The Air Force has just released it´s annual collection of best pictures, which give a unique insight to the lives of America´s Airmen. The pictures show Airmen carrying out adventurous acts like speeding through the skies in jets, jumping out of airplanes at 10,000 feet and helping NASA launch rockets into space. The pictures also show them performing lesser-known military activities, like airlifting a donated firetruck to Nicaragua and evacuating American families from politically tumultuous Turkey. Other Airmen spend most of their time grounded - like Senior Airman Angelique Culver, a dental lab technician at the Joint Base San Antinio-Lackland

Rex Tillerson is asked: ‘Is Putin a war

Washington Times, by Guy Taylor    Original Article

Sparks flew early in Wednesday’s secretary of state nomination hearing for Rex Tillerson when Republican Sen. Marco Rubio ripped the former ExxonMobil CEO for refusing to say outright that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a “war criminal.” “Is Putin a war criminal?” the Florida Republican asked. “I would not use that term,” Mr. Tillerson said. Mr. Rubio, who expressed skepticism when President-elect Donald Trump first named the former oil executive to be secretary of state, was being closely watched at the hearing. His tough line of questioning suggested he still had trouble with both Mr. Trump and Mr. Tillerson’s approach

Almost minutes after President Barack Obama concluded his farewell address Tuesday night, CNN jumped into whining about not being able to hear such deep speech from President-elect Donald Trump. “Also as we think about the next president about to take office, I mean, their speaking styles could not possibly be any more different,” noted moderator, Anderson Cooper, as unseen members of his panel laughed. “We’re not going to be hearing a speech LIKE THIS from a sitting president for the next four or eight years,” he continued to bemoan, as CNN’s chief political correspondent Dana Bash chimed in to glorify

(Video) One of Chuck Todd‘s big takeaways from President-elect Donald Trump‘s press conference today was just “how normal a circus is now to us.” “This was a circus,” he said on MSNBC earlier this afternoon. “We’ve never seen a president-elect, a transition, like we saw today.” Todd described it as the apparent normalization of a “crazy scene,” but a scene that worked well in Trump’s favor. He noted how it’s environments like this wherein Trump can thrive and make the press look “disjointed,” and so he should want to hold pressers more often. Watch above,

CNN is defending its decision to publish a story based on an unverified report that claimed the Russian government has compromising financial and personal information related to President-elect Trump. The network released a statement Wednesday following a press conference Trump hosted in New York, wherein the president-elect called CNN "fake news" and called BuzzFeed "a failing pile of garbage" for posting the actual unverified report, along with a story that called on Americans to decide on their own whether it´s true. "CNN´s decision to publish carefully sourced reporting about the operations of our government is vastly different than BuzzFeed´s decision

Tillerson swats Obama, blasts ‘weak’

President-elect Donald Trump’s Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson says the U.S. response to Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea should have been significantly more aggressive — particularly by delivering a more robust flow of defensive military equipment to Ukrainian forces. “The absence of a very firm and forceful response to the taking of Crimea was judged by the leadership in Russia as a weak response,” Mr. Tillerson said early during his nomination hearing on Capitol Hill Wednesday, adding that Moscow was encouraged by the lack of U.S. power projection to meddle further in eastern Ukraine. Wednesday’s Good Morning America had anchor George Stephanopoulos struggling to regain control of the interview after Trump’s senior advisor Kellyanne Conway called the media out for for their pro-Clinton bias. After repeated attempts to get Conway to answer whether or not Trump accepted that Russia hacked the election, Conway hit back, accusing the media of being the ones who tried to sway the results of the election for Hillary. For most of the nearly five-minute long interview, Stephanopoulos hammered Conway on the just-released anonymous report claiming Russia had damaging information on Donald Trump. Barbra Streisand is standing with Meryl Streep, who used her acceptance speech at Sunday´s Golden Globe Awards to criticize Donald Trump for lacking empathy and infamously mocking a disabled reporter in 2015. A day after Streep delivered her blistering rebuke of the president-elect, Streisand called in to Hardball With Chris Matthews and expressed her solidarity. I thought that [Streep] said what she said beautifully, Streisand remarked. Regarding Trump´s ridiculing of journalist Serge F. Kovaleski 14 months ago, Streisand added, I completely agree with Meryl. It was a heartbreaking moment and so beneath the dignity of the presidency, let alone any respectful person. Senator John McCain passed documents to the FBI director, James Comey, last month alleging secret contacts between the Trump campaign and Moscow and that Russian intelligence had personally compromising material on the president-elect himself. The material, which has been seen by the Guardian, is a series of reports on Trump’s relationship with Moscow. They were drawn up by a former western counter-intelligence official, now working as a private consultant. BuzzFeed on Tuesday published the documents, which it said were “unverified and potentially unverifiable”.

President Obama, as he concluded his farewell address in Chicago on Tuesday, called the U.S. Constitution “just a piece of parchment." “Our Constitution is a remarkable, beautiful gift,” said Obama. “But it’s really just a piece of parchment.” “It has no power on its own,” he went on. “We the people give it power. We the people give it meaning with our participation and with the choices that we make and the alliances that we forge…” He later said that as he steps down from the presidency, he plans to play an active role in "the most important office in a democracy: citizen."

Hillary Clinton’s political career is probably over, but just because she lost the presidential election to Donald Trump doesn’t mean she wasn’t prepared to win. Axios reporter Mike Allen has revealed Hillary’s list of prospective nominees for important cabinet posts in her administration, and it includes a number of interesting choices. John Podesta, her campaign chairman who accidentally exposed his entire email account to Russian hackers, was listed as the frontrunner to be Hillary Clinton’s secretary of state. Vice President Joe Biden was reportedly also being considered for the position. Facebook executive and Lean In author Sheryl Sandberg was in

So the website BuzzFeed decided to publish a series of memos that have been floating around for months alleging all kinds of terrible things about Donald Trump. Some of those terrible allegations have to do with efforts to influence the American elections and Trump. Some of them have to do with Trump’s personal sexual conduct. Readers of this newspaper know well not to include me among Trump’s supporters. But the scurrilousness of what BuzzFeed has done here is so beyond the bounds of what is even remotely acceptable it should compel even those most outraged by Trump’s political excesses to come to

The saga over alleged Russian interference in the U.S. elections took another sinister turn Tuesday, as it was revealed that U.S. intelligence officials provided President-elect Donald Trump with a charge that the Russians had obtained dirt on him. U.S. officials included a two-page synopsis of ´kompromat´ – Russian for compromising material – as part of their security briefing of Trump on Friday. The material was based on memos compiled by a British intelligence operative who was considered ´credible´ by the U.S. intelligence community, CNN reported. There may as well have been a banner hanging in the grand marble meeting room that housed Jeff Sessions’ hearings for attorney general: Booker 2020. After 10.5 hours of questioning on Tuesday, Wednesday’s panel of witnesses felt less urgent alongside Donald Trump’s press conference and Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson’s hearings beginning a building away. But Booker, swarmed by far more cameras than any other witness of the day when he entered the room, used the afternoon to take a splashy stand and lay groundwork for a potential 2020 presidential run. “In a choice between standing with Senate norms

At one point in President Obama´s interview with ABC News that aired over the weekend, George Stephanopoulos noted that "the Democratic Party got pretty hollowed out on your watch, about 1,000 seats lost in the Congress, Senate, governors, state houses." Then he asked: "Is that on you?" It was a good question. Since Obama took office, Democrats´ fortunes have plummeted. The party lost 900 seats in state legislatures, 12 governorships, 69 House seats and 13 Senate seats. Clearly, whatever leadership Obama provided, it wasn´t helping Democrats connect with voters across the country. So what was Obama´s response? At first, he

As honeymoons go, Donald Trump’s wasn’t much to write home about. He was voted in as the most unpopular president-elect in modern history and got slightly less unpopular in the weeks that followed, as the goodwill flowed. Even then, though, he clearly remained the most unpopular president-elect in modern history. Again, that was the honeymoon. And now it’s over. A new poll from Quinnipiac University suggests that Trump has reverted to his pre-election standing, with Americans having major concerns about his temperament and the direction in which his presidency will lead the country.
