Trump´s Transportation pick cruised
through her Senate hearing

Elaine Chao, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for transportation secretary, breezed through her confirmation hearing before the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee on Wednesday. There were no protests or interruptions. The exchanges never got heated. And there was plenty of praise for Chao. (Snip) Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) commented on how well-behaved and engaged Chao’s nieces were throughout the hearing. He also commended her for having a "great family."

Comments:
A solid connection with the establishment can be of great benefit.

I would have put her at the end.

Of course she did and it has nothing to do with her and everything to do with her husband. Smart of Trump to
add her to the Cabinet.

Giving McConnell´s wife a job was the price Trump paid for McConnell´s support for the rest of the cabinet. Of course she sailed through.

Well, of course Mizzuz McConnell cruised through. The Beltway elite are not very subtle.

What do you expect. She is the wife of Mitch McConnell. She got the job to grease the skids with Mitch. His family income just got a big shot in the bank account. Pay to play? Just sayin.

Of course she did. Thats why she was appointed to that position. She´s married to the swamp master and is there to ensure they all get their $1T boondoggle. Merry Christmas!

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus has raised a few eyebrows with some of the names he has picked for naval ships. Why, critics questioned, would he name a ship in honor of the late gay rights leader Harvey Milk or after former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords when there are plenty of military heroes to choose from? Mabus has said he is honoring people who have shown heroism, just as past navy secretaries have done. (Snip) Transgender Navy veteran Paula Neira and Sen. Dianne Feinstein are sponsoring Milk´s ship.

A federal appeals court decided Thursday that people do not have a constitutional right to carry concealed weapons in public. Overturning a three-judge panel’s decision, a larger group of judges from the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said California counties may require people who want permits for concealed guns to show a specific reason why they need the weapons. (Snip) The 11-judge panel took up the case after state Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris appealed a ruling by a panel of the 9th Circuit in February 2014 that struck down a policy of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Stacey Dash is weighing in on everything from gun control to feminism and why she thinks transgender people should go to the bathroom in the bushes. The actress is releasing a new memoir, "There Goes My Social Life: From Clueless to Conservative," and it is already proving to be as controversial as the Fox pundit herself. (Snip) "I don´t know what to tell you, but I´m not gonna put my child´s life at risk because you want to change a law."

Barbra Streisand is standing with Meryl Streep, who used her acceptance speech at Sunday´s Golden Globe Awards to criticize Donald Trump for lacking empathy and infamously mocking a disabled reporter in 2015. A day after Streep delivered her blistering rebuke of the president-elect, Streisand called in to Hardball With Chris Matthews and expressed her solidarity. I thought that [Streep] said what she said beautifully, Streisand remarked. Regarding Trump´s ridiculing of journalist Serge F. Kovaleski 14 months ago, Streisand added, I completely agree with Meryl. It was a heartbreaking moment and so beneath the dignity of the presidency, let alone any respectful person. Senator John McCain passed documents to the FBI director, James Comey, last month alleging secret contacts between the Trump campaign and Moscow and that Russian intelligence had personally compromising material on the president-elect himself. The material, which has been seen by the Guardian, is a series of reports on Trump’s relationship with Moscow. They were drawn up by a former western counter-intelligence official, now working as a private consultant. BuzzFeed on Tuesday published the documents, which it said were “unverified and potentially unverifiable”.

Sworn Donald Trump enemy John McCain admitted Wednesday that he passed the dossier of claims of a Russian blackmail plot against the president-elect. The Arizona senator issued a public statement amid mounting questions of his exact role in the affair - and how a document riddled with errors and unverifiable claims came to be published. ´Late last year, I received sensitive information that has since been made public,´ he said. ´Upon examination of the contents, and unable to make a judgment about their accuracy, I delivered the information to the Director of the FBI. ´That has been the extent of

President Obama, as he concluded his farewell address in Chicago on Tuesday, called the U.S. Constitution “just a piece of parchment." “Our Constitution is a remarkable, beautiful gift,” said Obama. “But it’s really just a piece of parchment.” “It has no power on its own,” he went on. “We the people give it power. We the people give it meaning with our participation and with the choices that we make and the alliances that we forge…” He later said that as he steps down from the presidency, he plans to play an active role in "the most important office in a democracy: citizen."

Hillary Clinton’s political career is probably over, but just because she lost the presidential election to Donald Trump doesn’t mean she wasn’t prepared to win. Axios reporter Mike Allen has revealed Hillary’s list of prospective nominees for important cabinet posts in her administration, and it includes a number of interesting choices. John Podesta, her campaign chairman who accidentally exposed his entire email account to Russian hackers, was listed as the frontrunner to be Hillary Clinton’s secretary of state. Vice President Joe Biden was reportedly also being considered for the position. Facebook executive and Lean In author Sheryl Sandberg was in

Fox News anchor Shepard Smith on Wednesday criticized President-elect Donald Trump for his shouting match with a CNN reporter. (Snip) "President-elect Trump today told CNN´s Jim Acosta the his organization amounts to fake news. CNN´s exclusive reporting on the Russian matter was separate and distinctly different from the document dump executed by an online news property," Smith said during his closing monologue. "Though we at Fox News cannot confirm CNN´s report, it is our observation that it´s correspondents followed journalistic standards and that neither they nor any other journalists should be subjected to belittling and delegitimizing by the president-elect of the

So the website BuzzFeed decided to publish a series of memos that have been floating around for months alleging all kinds of terrible things about Donald Trump. Some of those terrible allegations have to do with efforts to influence the American elections and Trump. Some of them have to do with Trump’s personal sexual conduct. Readers of this newspaper know well not to include me among Trump’s supporters. But the scurrilousness of what BuzzFeed has done here is so beyond the bounds of what is even remotely acceptable it should compel even those most outraged by Trump’s political excesses to come to
