By Taking Down DeVos, Unions And
Democrats Hope To Kill School Reform

Education: Democrats and unions are joining to kill any prospect of meaningful education reform by President-elect Donald Trump. How? By fatally damaging school reformer Betsy DeVos´ nomination as Secretary of Education. DeVos is unquestionably qualified to head the Education Department. She has spent most of her adult life as an enthusiastic and thoughtful school reformer, fighting the teachers unions and their bought-and-paid-for Democratic political pals, to bring hope and educational change to the state of Illinois´ dysfunctional schools. What irks unions and Democrats alike is that DeVos is an unabashed advocate of school choice, which mostly means charter schools and voucher programs.

Just remember one of Hillary´s emails that stated that it was a good idea to keep the voters uninformed so that they could be "easily managed".

And the best way to do that, #1, is to start with the little children in the primary grades of school.

Alert to Dems at the confirmation hearings: Imperative that we take down DeVos so that we can keep control of our hopeless inner city schools and assure that no one has the opportunity to get a quality education.

They are already putting out the lie that she will completely cancel and defund special education.

The heading starting with the word ´By´ suggests it is either an accomplished or easily achievable task. IMO they are underestimating Trump. He is not in this business to be ´taken down´.

The Superintendent of Grand Rapids public schools, Teresa Weatherall Neal has expressed great appreciation for the contributions Betsy DeVos has made towards the GR public schools.

Devos will make a great Sec of Ed., she has been involved in public school improvement for many years here in Michigan.

One can observe the results of Democrats and Unions by watching the tears running down the faces of people in the “Farewell” audience last night!

God Bless the little children. They don’t have a chance, what with the schools and the liberal parents pouring nonsense into their heads.

Before she leaves in 4-8 years, she needs to have gutted DOE, and then turn off the lights at the end. We do not want the fedgov involved in education at any level, for any reason.

The Department of Education is the last Democrat Money Laundering Operation to be touched. There never be reform of education in the US, and there will never be an accounting of the DOE.

Reading the NYT smear piece on DeVos, they have nothing. Leftwing "logic" is that because they have nothing, there must be something being hidden.

I suspect that DeVos will be as well prepared as direct, and as unflappable as Sessions was. The question is, is there a Senator on the committee she is facing that will as effectively fill Cruz´s shoes as an advocate? Cruz took on the racist charges head on and shredded them. When the Franken clown popped up, Cruz chopped him off at the knees by pointing out that the old, old info that Franken dredged up was recanted by the original witness just days after it was given. Cruz may as well have stuck a big red nose and a goofy wig on Franken. Cruz is the kind of Senator that needs to be on every committee reviewing a nominee.

They´re not taking anybody down. Their playbook is antiquated, and the tactics that were once so successful in cowing Republicans into submission today only illicit laughter, as was on full display with the buffoonery they engaged in at the Sessions hearing yesterday.

When the liberal democrats ask her a question, and if they´re from inner-city districts with failing schools, she should respond by saying "how has the current system been doing the last 50 years"?

Are children better off today?

This is a two-pronged essential to Democrat leaders. Not just the union cash cow, but the fear that inner city Black Americans won´t continue to support Democrats if they become well educated (and preventing good education in the inner cities is something that with all of their public grandstanding to the contrary, Democrats have been accomplishing for 50 years). We are in for one h of a fight. But I agree with other posters, these are not typical R´s of past years. They had d well better not go wobbly on DeVos, no matter how much dirt the D´s throw.

Do the Dims actually think that only DeVos is in favor of reforming the disastrous, federally-controlled government-run school system.

Millions of citizens are in line to take up the position and make America Great Again.

If that happens, Trump should send legislation to congress to do away with the education department and give the education funds to the states to run their programs. That should take care of the teachers union.

Voting: In yet another move by the Obama administration to stick its thumb in the nation´s eye on the way out, it has decided to have the federal government meddle in state and local elections. It´s yet another terrible decision that Donald Trump is going to have to undo. With almost no notice, Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson announced that his department was designating the nation´s elections system as "critical infrastructure," thereby giving DHS greater control over how states run their own elections. This is a classic example of a government solution in search of a problem, one that will itself end

At one point in President Obama´s interview with ABC News that aired over the weekend, George Stephanopoulos noted that "the Democratic Party got pretty hollowed out on your watch, about 1,000 seats lost in the Congress, Senate, governors, state houses." Then he asked: "Is that on you?" It was a good question. Since Obama took office, Democrats´ fortunes have plummeted. The party lost 900 seats in state legislatures, 12 governorships, 69 House seats and 13 Senate seats. Clearly, whatever leadership Obama provided, it wasn´t helping Democrats connect with voters across the country. So what was Obama´s response? At first, he

Sears. Macy´s. Kohl´s. Traditional department store retailers have taken hard hits over the Christmas holidays, with sales lagging the generally robust performance of retailers overall. Now, these mall stalwarts are slashing thousands of jobs and hundreds of stores, trying to right-size themselves. It´s no coincidence. Sears on Thursday became the latest retailer to announce that it was restructuring after a weak Christmas season. It´s closing 150 Sears and Kmart stores and selling its iconic Craftsman tool brand for just under a billion dollars to Stanley Black & Decker. Meanwhile, Macy´s is letting 10,000 people go. And Kohl´s warned about its decline

Health Reform: Remember when Democrats were promising that ObamaCare would cut the deficit by $1 trillion in its second decade? Turns out they were off by, well, about $1 trillion. A report from the centrist Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget says that, left in place, ObamaCare would reduce the deficit by between $350 billion and $150 billion over the next 10 years, depending on whether or not you account for the economic harm caused by the law. It might look like a big number, but it´s far smaller than the $1 trillion Democrats promised. What´s more, a realistic accounting shows that

When a company fails at its basic mission in a way that harms the public, and then tries to mislead the public about it, newspaper reporters can be counted on to immediately swoop in and demand that the company be held to account. So what happens when the company in question is a major, highly influential newspaper? Let´s see. On Friday, the Washington Post published an earth-shattering report that Russian hackers had infiltrated the U.S. electricity grid through a Vermont utility. The story´s lede said that a "code associated with the Russian hacking operation dubbed Grizzly Steppe by the Obama administration has been

Regulation: As President Obama continues his bizarre last-minute regulatory siege without letup, Donald Trump has made it clear he´ll undo most of the unneeded rules once he´s in office. And Congress hopes to make it very easy for him to do. As he heads for the exits, Obama is engaged in a frenzy of regulation, intended to hamstring American businesses and reward green groups and unions. But while the pace has picked up recently, it´s really nothing new. As Paul Bedard of the Washington Examiner has noted, Obama´s "lame duck administration poured on thousands more new regulations in 2016 at a a

Barbra Streisand is standing with Meryl Streep, who used her acceptance speech at Sunday´s Golden Globe Awards to criticize Donald Trump for lacking empathy and infamously mocking a disabled reporter in 2015. A day after Streep delivered her blistering rebuke of the president-elect, Streisand called in to Hardball With Chris Matthews and expressed her solidarity. I thought that [Streep] said what she said beautifully, Streisand remarked. Regarding Trump´s ridiculing of journalist Serge F. Senator John McCain passed documents to the FBI director, James Comey, last month alleging secret contacts between the Trump campaign and Moscow and that Russian intelligence had personally compromising material on the president-elect himself. The material, which has been seen by the Guardian, is a series of reports on Trump’s relationship with Moscow. They were drawn up by a former western counter-intelligence official, now working as a private consultant. BuzzFeed on Tuesday published the documents, which it said were “unverified and potentially unverifiable”.

President Obama, as he concluded his farewell address in Chicago on Tuesday, called the U.S. Constitution “just a piece of parchment." “Our Constitution is a remarkable, beautiful gift,” said Obama. “But it’s really just a piece of parchment.” “It has no power on its own,” he went on. “We the people give it power. We the people give it meaning with our participation and with the choices that we make and the alliances that we forge…” He later said that as he steps down from the presidency, he plans to play an active role in "the most important office in a democracy: citizen."

Hillary Clinton’s political career is probably over, but just because she lost the presidential election to Donald Trump doesn’t mean she wasn’t prepared to win. Axios reporter Mike Allen has revealed Hillary’s list of prospective nominees for important cabinet posts in her administration, and it includes a number of interesting choices. John Podesta, her campaign chairman who accidentally exposed his entire email account to Russian hackers, was listed as the frontrunner to be Hillary Clinton’s secretary of state. Vice President Joe Biden was reportedly also being considered for the position. Facebook executive and Lean In author Sheryl Sandberg was in

The saga over alleged Russian interference in the U.S. elections took another sinister turn Tuesday, as it was revealed that U.S. intelligence officials provided President-elect Donald Trump with a charge that the Russians had obtained dirt on him. U.S. officials included a two-page synopsis of ´kompromat´ – Russian for compromising material – as part of their security briefing of Trump on Friday. So the website BuzzFeed decided to publish a series of memos that have been floating around for months alleging all kinds of terrible things about Donald Trump. Some of those terrible allegations have to do with efforts to influence the American elections and Trump. Some of them have to do with Trump’s personal sexual conduct.
