Before the president from Chicago
says farewell, there´s disappointment

Chicago Tribune, by John Kass

Original Article

For all the gooey talk about President Barack Obama´s legacy, it can probably best be described in four blunt words: Disappointment. And Donald Trump. What we can´t measure, not completely, not yet, is the inspiration he´s given to millions of people — particularly to African-Americans — who years ago couldn´t dare dream that a black man would ever be elected president. And we can´t measure what his presidency has triggered in the minds and imaginations of the young. It´s all part of his charm that offered hope for future generations, and the long lines of proud families waiting to see him speak Tuesday

His impact on black families in America has been zero. Zero.

For all of those white citizens who chose to carry the burden of "white guilt", and voted for Obama so that they could tell their grandchildren that they proudly voted for the first black president, I hope much of that "white guilt" has now been washed away.

If so, improvement in that social condition can be credited to an otherwise disappointing eight years.

FTA:

"Donald Trump is Obama´s true legacy.

"Obama prepared the ground for him, watered and fertilized it with his failed and questionable policy, like Obamacare, which, according to Obamacare guru Jonathan Gruber, was built on lies."

Nailed it.

John Kass trying to paint a rosy picture on the back of a loud mouthed, clinically narcissistic, lazy, good for nothing buffoon who turned out to be a huge disappointment to everyone.

Well, the one good thing Obama Hussein did was to help us see the errors of our ways and elect Donald Trump.

All of the "Hope and Change" that could have been was DOA because of Obama´s complete self-absorption.

Not to mention the inspiration he has given to millions of jihadists.

FTA: "And, we can´t measure what his presidency has triggered in the minds and imaginations of the young."

Sure we can. The knock-out game, savage brutality against whites, rioting, looting, the systematic murder of police officers, Black Lives Matter, and all-round permission and, moreover, encouragement for the black community (and, especially black youth) to be feral and ignorant.

And, that´s just off the top of my head.

John of this article is making nice with his own disappointment and his water color picture of incompetency. Stay with it John, other writers tend to be a bit more brutal and a bit more honest in their evaluation.

Chicago´s casualty list, especially the annual hundreds of preponderantly black dead, are mute testimony supporting President Barack Obama´s legacy.

Liberals and other fools will, in the long run, discover they exchanged their white guilt for obama guilt. The latter will be real and deserved.

In the presidency´s long march toward full-spectrum dominance over American life, the POTUS has become, among other things, host in chief of our national talk show. Barack Obama fulfilled that role better than most. Our 44th president never seemed more completely in his element than when trading zingers at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. We find it reassuring somehow to be reminded that the guy with the kill list has a sense of humor. At the 2015 version of the annual press and pols confab, Obama got one of his bigger laugh lines when he joked: "Dick Cheney says he

The transgender bathroom case arrives

Back in October I wrote about the announcement that the Supreme Court would be hearing the case of G.G. v. Gloucester County School Board. This is the long awaited “transgender bathroom law” challenge to the Obama administration’s reinterpretation of Title IX law which sought to morph the definition of “sex” to include the SJW concept of gender identity. At the time I expressed concern over both how a split court might rule on the science behind the question as well as the possibility that they would dodge the fundamental questions entirely and choose to narrowly rule on the legal mechanics. In his first public remarks as President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to be secretary of state, former ExxonMobile chief executive Rex Tillerson will say he believes Russia is “a danger” and that NATO allies are right to be alarmed by its aggression. But he makes no mention of Moscow’s interference in the U.S. election campaign or the future of U.S. sanctions. “I come before you at a pivotal time in both the history of our nation and our world,” Tillerson will testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Wednesday morning in an opening statement that lays out a realist and tough view

Republican senators on Tuesday heaped praise on their colleague Jeff Sessions during his confirmation hearing to be the next U.S. attorney general, sending a strong signal that the Alabama lawmaker is likely to pass muster in the full Senate. Democrats, skeptical of Sessions on issues ranging from civil rights to immigration to abortion and same-sex marriage, questioned him carefully on his tenure both as a senator and U.S. attorney and appeared to be mostly opposed to his confirmation. In the hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sessions offered some insight into how he would run the Department of Justice, suggesting he would

What Exactly Is Trumpism?

Donald Trump is hated by liberal Democrats because, among other things, he is likely to reverse the entire Obama project. And, far worse, he probably will seek fundamental ways of obstructing its future resurgence — even perhaps by peeling off traditional Democratic constituencies. The proverbial mainstream media despise Trump. Culturally, he has become a totem of their fears: coarseness, ostentatiousness, flamboyance, and the equation of big money with taste and success. His new approach to the media may make them irrelevant, and they fear their downfall could be well earned. The Republican Washington–to–New York establishment is alienated by Trump. It

Democrats’ opposition to Trump

It is a tough time to be a Democrat. The weeks that follow a defeat at the ballot box are never flattering for the losers, but this time around, the Democrats seem to be particularly demoralized. Their melancholy and fatigue appear to be getting worse. Their opposition to President-elect Donald Trump and the Republicans is lame, lazy and leaderless. Eventually they will get their game back, but I admit to feeling some satisfaction watching them struggle as the confirmation hearings for Trump’s Cabinet picks get underway. Jeff Sessions (R), my senator from Alabama, appears to be waltzing to his confirmation as

Barbra Streisand is standing with Meryl Streep, who used her acceptance speech at Sunday´s Golden Globe Awards to criticize Donald Trump for lacking empathy and infamously mocking a disabled reporter in 2015. A day after Streep delivered her blistering rebuke of the president-elect, Streisand called in to Hardball With Chris Matthews and expressed her solidarity. I thought that [Streep] said what she said beautifully, Streisand remarked. Regarding Trump´s ridiculing of journalist Serge F. Kovaleski 14 months ago, Streisand added, I completely agree with Meryl. It was a heartbreaking moment and so beneath the dignity of the presidency, let alone any respectful person. Senator John McCain passed documents to the FBI director, James Comey, last month alleging secret contacts between the Trump campaign and Moscow and that Russian intelligence had personally compromising material on the president-elect himself. The material, which has been seen by the Guardian, is a series of reports on Trump’s relationship with Moscow. They were drawn up by a former western counter-intelligence official, now working as a private consultant. BuzzFeed on Tuesday published the documents, which it said were “unverified and potentially unverifiable”.

Sworn Donald Trump enemy John McCain admitted Wednesday that he passed the dossier of claims of a Russian blackmail plot against the president-elect. President Obama, as he concluded his farewell address in Chicago on Tuesday, called the U.S. Constitution “just a piece of parchment." “Our Constitution is a remarkable, beautiful gift,” said Obama. “But it’s really just a piece of parchment.” “It has no power on its own,” he went on. “We the people give it power. We the people give it meaning with our participation and with the choices that we make and the alliances that we forge…” He later said that as he steps down from the presidency, he plans to play an active role in "the most important office in a democracy: citizen."

Hillary Clinton’s political career is probably over, but just because she lost the presidential election to Donald Trump doesn’t mean she wasn’t prepared to win. Axios reporter Mike Allen has revealed Hillary’s list of prospective nominees for important cabinet posts in her administration, and it includes a number of interesting choices. John Podesta, her campaign chairman who accidentally exposed his entire email account to Russian hackers, was listed as the frontrunner to be Hillary Clinton’s secretary of state. Vice President Joe Biden was reportedly also being considered for the position. Facebook executive and Lean In author Sheryl Sandberg was in

The saga over alleged Russian interference in the U.S. elections took another sinister turn Tuesday, as it was revealed that U.S. intelligence officials provided President-elect Donald Trump with a charge that the Russians had obtained dirt on him. U.S. officials included a two-page synopsis of ´kompromat´ – Russian for compromising material – as part of their security briefing of Trump on Friday. The material was based on memos compiled by a British intelligence operative who was considered ´credible´ by the U.S. intelligence community, CNN reported. What is believed to be the document itself was published by Buzzfeed, which pointed out

So the website BuzzFeed decided to publish a series of memos that have been floating around for months alleging all kinds of terrible things about Donald Trump. Some of those terrible allegations have to do with efforts to influence the American elections and Trump. Some of them have to do with Trump’s personal sexual conduct. Readers of this newspaper know well not to include me among Trump’s supporters. But the scurrilousness of what BuzzFeed has done here is so beyond the bounds of what is even remotely acceptable it should compel even those most outraged by Trump’s political excesses to come to
