Barbra Streisand blasts Donald Trump:
´I completely agree with Meryl´

Entertainment Weekly, by Oliver Gettell

Original Article

Posted By:NorthernDog, 1/10/2017 9:16:13 AM

Barbra Streisand is standing with Meryl Streep, who used her acceptance speech at Sunday´s Golden Globe Awards to criticize Donald Trump for lacking empathy and infamously mocking a disabled reporter in 2015. A day after Streep delivered her blistering rebuke of the president-elect, Streisand called in to Hardball With Chris Matthews and expressed her solidarity. I thought that [Streep] said what she said beautifully, Streisand remarked. Regarding Trump´s ridiculing of journalist Serge F. Kovaleski 14 months ago, Streisand added, I completely agree with Meryl. It was a heartbreaking moment and so beneath the dignity of the presidency, let alone any respectful person. What we need more in this world

Comments:
I liked it better when droopy, old celebrities quietly faded away.

Poor babies, what this is all about is that now, their status has changed, no more going to parties at the White House. They are just ordinary mouth breathing, lip flapping citizens without power recognition.

These ´celebrities´ do not understand that normal folks don´t care what THEY espouse. We have our own lives to live and we don´t need them to tell us how to live it. Obviously they can´t remember this line - " the election is over "- I think it was despicable to turn an awards show into a political diatribe, not that I have ever watched an awards show. They just entertain each other with their arrogance.

Barbra needs a teleprompter to sing her own songs at her concerts. It´s glorified karoake seeing one of her shows.

That line by Meryl about holding power to account? Didn´t seem to bother Hollywood when the power (democrat administration) was using the IRS against people, because it was against Republicans. Didn´t seem to bother the Hollywood crowd when the EPA was poisoning the water in Colorado and New Mexico.

OK. Meryl Streep. The thing to remember is that she’s an actor. She makes her living memorizing and delivering lines written for her by other people. She’s not a writer, and she doesn’t do improv.

So – who wrote her lines for her? Someone from Hillary’s camp? How long did she rehearse them? Did she rehearse in front of a mirror to get the facial expressions just the way she wanted them? Did she practice that little voice quiver, trying it out at different places? Did she practice different placements and durations of the pauses? How about her hand gestures?

As virtue signaling performances go, it wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really rise to the level of excellence, now did it? Because she is who she is, on a scale of 1 to 10 she always gets the gentlelady’s 3 just for showing up. So for this, I’d giver her a 4. I mean, she couldn’t even muster up a tear or two?

I saw La La Land. I’d like to see what Miss Stone could do with this script. Next!

Armed cops swarmed around the Palace of Westminster this afternoon amid reports of gunfire and several people lying wounded in the street. Up to a dozen innocent pedestrians were mowed down by a vehicle on Westminster Bridge which then crashed into the gates outside Parliament. With Democrats facing tough prospects in the midterm elections, will they also have to worry about primary challenges from their left flank? During his presidential campaign, Sen. Bernie Sanders never quite decided whether his "political revolution" could coexist with the Democratic Party or needed to overthrow it. Now, Sanders is one of the most popular political figures in the country and the activists he galvanized have gone on to start new groups, join old ones, or run electoral campaigns. The path of Sanders´ former staffers reflects the split in his movement, and the some are already galvanizing for the 2018

Gorsuch Confirmation Presents
Democrats With 2 Difficult Paths

WASHINGTON — When it comes to the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Neil M. Gorsuch, Senate Democrats appear to have two options: Get out of the way or get run over. Senate Republicans’ enthusiastic backing of President Trump’s nominee ensures majority support even before the confirmation hearing begins Monday. But the Republicans also hope that enough Democrats are won over by Judge Gorsuch — or recognize the inevitability of his confirmation — that they join in efforts to head off an explosive showdown over a filibuster. Should Democrats ultimately deny the judge the necessary backing to clear the way for

CHICAGO -- Police warn CTA commuters who take the Red Line to look out for thieves. There have been three robberies this week. During the robbery, three-to-four offenders approach the victims outside of a CTA Red Line Station or on the train. One asks a question to distract the rider -- then the others punch the victim in the face multiple times and goes through their pockets or purse. Two of the robberies happened just after 1 a.m. Friday; the first incident in the 100 block of West Adams -- then 20 minutes later again, in the 100 block of West Van Buren.

Is Colin Kaepernick being blackballed

It seemed a little early to condemn NFL teams for freezing out Colin Kaepernick. Barely a week had gone by in free agency. With one exception — albeit a grotesque, borderline-obscene one — not many quarterbacks had been coming off of the market. Bleacher Report’s Friday story on how front-office types still want nothing to do with him for his protests during the national anthem shined another light on it. (Snip) Come on. Stop it. Do not ever say Colin Kaepernick can´t get a job because he´s not good enough. Think of a better excuse. Think of a better lie.

Tabloid titan Jimmy Breslin — the cigar-chomping, hard-nosed newspaperman who won the Pulitzer Prize for his Daily News’ columns championing ordinary New Yorkers — has died, according to two friends of his family. He was 86. The cause of death was not immediately released. The curmudgeonly ink-stained wretch — whose velvety and witty writing style uplifted the downtrodden and eviscerated the scoundrels — crafted scores of columns for The News, Newsday, the New York Herald Tribune and New York Journal American. For more than 40 years, James Earl Breslin was a newspaper reporter New Yorkers trusted and clamored to read,

BOULDER, Colo. — A new study by the University of Colorado Boulder spells out the suggestion that the first letter of your last name may determine your success in life. According to the study, which examines “alphabetism,” people with surnames beginning with a letter in the last half of the alphabet may face a tougher time academically, landing a first job and getting through life in general. The study, published last month, is not necessarily grounded in indisputable science. One of the lead researchers in the study said the results, however, were surprising. “Statistically, we were looking at two people

NEW YORK - An aspiring model has died after being hit by a train in Texas on what was her first photoshoot. The family shared a photograph of the 19-year-old pregnant woman moments before the incident. Authorities said Thompson was standing between two sets of tracks on Friday in Navasota when a BNSF Railway train approached. She moved out of the way of the train but was apparently unaware that a Union Pacific train was coming in the opposite direction on the other tracks and was struck. Sears is on the verge of declaring bankruptcy. All department stores have faced increased competition from Amazon.com, but Sears is out of cash and about to fail. Why? Because the CEO, Eddie Lampert, is a guy with nutty ideas who treated Sears like a dotcom, conveniently forgetting that it has physical stores that need maintaining. (snip) It´s closing hundreds of stores. Others are in shambles, with leaking ceilings and broken escalators. In some, employees hang bedsheets to shield shoppers from sections that stand empty. Before Sears and Kmart, Lampert had no experience in retail. The big plan he hoped would transform Sears

Last week, the British intelligence agency GCHQ took the rare step of debunking as “utterly ridiculous” the Trump administration’s insinuation that Britain spied on Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign. On Monday, FBI Director James B. Comey testified plainly that “I have no information that supports” President Trump’s accusations that his predecessor ordered the “wires tapped” at Trump Tower. These false statements from the White House are part of a disturbing pattern of behavior that poses real and potentially profound dangers to U.S. national security. A group of Senate Democrats is beginning to explore trying to extract concessions from Republicans in return for allowing Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch to be confirmed, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. The lawmakers worry that Gorsuch could be confirmed whether Democrats try to block him or not — and Democrats would be left with nothing to show for it. That would be a bitter pill after the GOP blocked Merrick Garland for nearly a year. The deal Democrats would be most likely to pursue, the sources said, would be to allow confirmation of Gorsuch in exchange for a

British Lawmaker Lord Digby Jones does not believe the religion of the London attacker is pertinent, The Washington Post reports. Jones comments come in the wake of a tweet by Donald Trump Jr. criticizing London Mayor Sadiq Khan for once telling citizens that terrorist attacks are “part and parcel” part of living in a big city. Some British lawmakers drew offense from the tweet, saying Trump was attacking the mayor in the midst of a terrorist situation. “You’re safer in London than you’ve ever been,” Jones declared. He continued, “If this turns out to be an act of Islamic terrorism,

Three bodies were visible on the floor outside Parliament and the Palace was placed on an immediate lock down. Others were seen lying in the road on Westminster Bridge, where reports suggest around six people were knocked down by a car. As Republicans hail Judge Neil Gorsuch as an "outstanding" Supreme Court nominee, Democrats are lining up against him for partisan reasons. "My view is very simple," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told a news conference on Tuesday. "And that is, there is a cloud now hanging over the head of the president, and while that´s happening, to have a lifetime appointment made by this president seems unseemly, and there ought to be delay." Washington -- Communications of Donald Trump´s transition officials - possibly including the incoming president himself - may have been scooped up in legal surveillance but then improperly distributed throughout the intelligence community, the chairman of the House intelligence committee said Wednesday. In an extraordinary set of statements to reporters, Republican Rep. Devin Nunes said the intercepted communications do not appear to be related to the ongoing FBI investigation into Trump associates´ contacts with Russia or any criminal warrants. President Trump is facing the first crucial test of his presidency — repealing and replacing Obamacare — and he needs to apply the negotiating chops and deal-making skills he bragged about in his bestselling book, “The Art of the Deal,” to fixing our broken health-care system. And given his low approval ratings, he needs a win. Dealing with the Obamacare mess has been the core focus of the Republican party for the past 7 years — not to mention a major campaign promise that helped propel Donald Trump to the White House. So it’s imperative that the president seal the deal and

Alphonse Maddin worked as a truck driver for TransAm Trucking. Like a lot of Americans, he did the kind of hard work that puts food on the table, and pays the bills and the taxes. The work that people like Maddin do every day may not receive lots of media attention, but our economy will not function without it. Such workers do not ask for a lot in return, just to be treated fairly and with dignity under our laws. Unfortunately, even that modest expectation has too often gone unfulfilled in recent years. Democrats plan to filibuster Neil Gorsuch’s nomination for the Supreme Court, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) said Thursday. Speaking on the Senate floor Thursday morning, Schumer said Gorsuch -- who is three days into his confirmation hearings with the Senate Judiciary Committee -- will need 60 votes to be confirmed. Currently, the Senate has 52 Republicans and 48 Democrats. “After careful deliberation, I have concluded that I cannot support judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court,” he said. “His nomination will have a cloture vote. He will have to earn 60 votes for confirmation. My vote will
