What Exactly Is Trumpism?
National Review, by Victor Davis Hanson

Original Article

Donald Trump is hated by liberal Democrats because, among other things, he is likely to reverse the entire Obama project. And, far worse, he probably will seek fundamental ways of obstructing its future resurgence — even perhaps by peeling off traditional Democratic constituencies. The proverbial mainstream media despise Trump. Culturally, he has become a totem of their fears: coarseness, ostentatiousness, flamboyance, and the equation of big money with taste and success. His new approach to the media may make them irrelevant, and they fear their downfall could be well earned. The Republican Washington–to–New York establishment is alienated by Trump. It

Excellent article! Nominate for a "Must Read."

Trump remembers and reminds us of American exceptionalism. WTP want that back with a practical, common sense approach to the world. He also learned the lesson of WWII, if you´re going to fight, fight to win, preferably by portraying strength rather than brute force. But if it comes to brute force, we can and will use it.

Why Taking a Hot Bath

Many cultures swear by the benefits of a hot bath. But only recently has science began to understand how passive heating (as opposed to getting hot and sweaty from exercise) improves health. At Loughborough University we investigated the effect of a hot bath on blood sugar control (an important measure of metabolic fitness) and on energy expended (number of calories burned). We recruited 14 men to take part in the study. They were assigned to an hour-long soak in a hot bath (40 degrees Celsius) or an hour of cycling. The activities were designed to cause a 1 degrees Celsius rise

History moves in cycles. The plague of political correctness and assaults on free speech that erupted in the 1980s and were beaten back in the 1990s have returned with a vengeance. In the United States, the universities as well as the mainstream media are currently patrolled by well-meaning but ruthless thought police, as dogmatic in their views as agents of the Spanish Inquisition. We are plunged once again into an ethical chaos where intolerance masquerades as tolerance and where individual liberty is crushed by the tyranny of the group. Though it is hard to believe some days, the political atmosphere in Washington is slowly settling down. The Democrats drone tiresomely on, battering the piñata that there is no evidence that President Obama tapped candidate Trump’s telephones, and the Republicans, as if trying to extract a shark’s teeth, require the endlessly repeated admission that the allegation of collusion between the Russian government and the Trump campaign was horse feathers. The corresponding entrenched defense positions are that the Republicans have reason to believe that there was official surveillance of some kind of the Trump campaign, and the Democrats will claim there was

The biggest gamble in the House health-care bill is whether it includes enough reform to arrest the current death spiral in the individual insurance market. No one knows for sure, but critics are overlooking important provisions that will help people who are now exposed to ObamaCare’s rapidly rising premiums. Notably, the bill includes a new 10-year $100 billion “stability fund” that allows states to start to repair their individual insurance markets. Before ObamaCare, it wasn’t inevitable that costs would increase by 25% on average this year, or that nearly a third of U.S. counties would become single-insurer monopolies. With better policy

FBI Director James Comey made a big deal of publicly announcing — "I have been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm ..." — that his agents are investigating Trumpworld over allegations of collusion with Russia in the 2016 campaign. But until asked specifically at Monday´s House Intelligence Committee hearing, Comey said nothing about his decision to keep the investigation secret from Congress, the White House (via the National Security Council), the Justice Department and even from his colleagues in the intelligence community. In the course of questioning, Comey revealed that the investigation began in July 2016.

There was something for everyone in Monday´s House Intelligence Committee hearing -- for Democrats, some fuel for their unproven theory the presidency was stolen from them in last year´s election, and for Republicans, confirmation that there´s a serious problem with the leaking of secrets by officials in Washington. Russian espionage is nothing new, yet its possible role in the Trump campaign and administration is something the committee is just beginning to uncover. At Monday´s hearing, FBI Director James Comey addressed several key issues: the accusations of Trump Tower wiretapping, Russia´s influence in US elections and alleged collusion with the Trump campaign,

The American Health Care Act (AHCA) has cleared three of the four committees whose approval it must have to be considered by the full House, and GOP leaders are confident enough in its prospects with the Rules Committee that a floor vote has been scheduled for Thursday. In other words, the time for posturing at press conferences, making passionate speeches to C-SPAN cameras, and concocting sound bites for cable talk shows is over. Before the end of this week, House Republicans will have to cast actual votes for or against Obamacare repeal — and the American people will be watching.

Here’s an inconvenient question: Do Democrats have any new ideas to fix the objectively failing Obamacare health care reform? Let me save you some time: The short answer is no. I have seen no major Democratic legislation filed this Congress to “fix” Obamacare. Nothing to address rising costs, or the declining quality of coverage, or the increasing lack of choice in the market.Socialists in the European tradition like Sen. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, but for governments it’s not that easy. Once something is given — say, health insurance coverage to 20 million Americans — you take it away at your peril. This is true for any government benefit, but especially for health care. There’s a reason not one Western democracy with some system of national health care has ever abolished it. The genius of the left is to keep enlarging the entitlement state by creating new giveaways that are politically impossible to repeal. For 20 years, Republicans railed against the New Deal. Last week, the British intelligence agency GCHQ took the rare step of debunking as “utterly ridiculous” the Trump administration’s insinuation that Britain spied on Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign. On Monday, FBI Director James B. Comey testified plainly that “I have no information that supports” President Trump’s accusations that his predecessor ordered the “wires tapped” at Trump Tower. A group of Senate Democrats is beginning to explore trying to extract concessions from Republicans in return for allowing Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch to be confirmed, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. The lawmakers worry that Gorsuch could be confirmed whether Democrats try to block him or not — and Democrats would be left with nothing to show for it. That would be a bitter pill after the GOP blocked Merrick Garland for nearly a year. Dealing with the Obamacare mess has been the core focus of the Republican party for the past 7 years — not to mention a major campaign promise that helped propel Donald Trump to the White House.
