A historic church in the heart of the nation’s capital has hired a married lesbian couple as co-pastors. Calvary Baptist Church in northwest D.C. announced the hiring of Sally Sarratt and Maria Swearingen on Jan. 8 during morning worship, where they were approved by the congregation. “We have found it so easy to fall in love with Calvary and its longstanding commitment to be a voice of justice and compassion for those who perpetually find the wholeness of their humanity disregarded and maligned,” the pastors said in a press release issued by the church. The progressive church severed its ties with the Southern
Comments: I never thought I would live to see things like this. Progressives a/k/a Communists destroy everything they touch.
They are not preaching from the bible as it was written. They are choosing their own path and it won´t lead to salvation. They think because we are to love everybody we need to accept their beliefs. Not so! God has given us a free choice and we can accept salvation or condemnation.
Sounds like we have arrived at Sodom and Gomorrah! We have women running around half naked (think Kardashian, Mariah and most of the women at the Awards show last night if I saw the clips correctly), Homosexuals taking over the House of God, People getting stinking drunk in the Streets and LGBTQ..demanding we accept them as they want to be, not as God created them. The government is even willing to pay for them to change to the other Sex if they don´t like the one they were born. If that isn´t the world going to Hell in a Handbasket I don´t know what is! I´m 75 years old, I´ve never seen anything like it! Wasn´t there a Bible story about someone turning to Salt! Maybe we´re almost there!
How is being an unrepentant lesbian Preacher any different that an unrepentant adulterer, drunkard, drug abuser, liar or thief Preacher?
We all have our sins, mine are no better than theirs and equal in the eyes of the Almighty. But how can you be a preacher without at least acknowledging your particular strain of sin and renouncing it?
Isn´t that part of salvation? Repentance of your ways? Going thy way and sinning no more?
How do you reconcile the attitude that the almighty must accept my ways?
More importantly, what is wrong with the sheep that would follow such a Shepard?
Religious freedom to me means if Calvary Baptist Church elects to be led by a lesbian couple they are free to do so. The righteousness of it is between them and God. If you love it go there if you don´t, don´t. How hard can it be? I am a 77 year old deeply conservative Christian man and I believe these things are for God to resolve. I don´t see why they make the National news. They didn´t cover my Church´s picnic.
Hillary Clinton’s political career is probably over, but just because she lost the presidential election to Donald Trump doesn’t mean she wasn’t prepared to win. Axios reporter Mike Allen has revealed Hillary’s list of prospective nominees for important cabinet posts in her administration, and it includes a number of interesting choices. John Podesta, her campaign chairman who accidentally exposed his entire email account to Russian hackers, was listed as the frontrunner to be Hillary Clinton’s secretary of state. Vice President Joe Biden was reportedly also being considered for the position. Facebook executive and Lean In author Sheryl Sandberg was in
(Washington DC) – Judicial Watch announced that a federal court judge ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to produce this week any “preservation requests” for emails sent to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Deputy Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Chief of Staff Christian Marrone, and General Counsel Stevan Bunnell. (Snip) At last week’s January 5 hearing, Obama Justice Department lawyers confirmed that nothing had been done to retrieve government records from Jeh Johnson or the other officials’ accounts. According to the hearing transcript: THE COURT: But you say to me there’s no reason to doubt that the agency will pursue the
Congress’s top immigrant-rights advocate said Tuesday that he’ll skip next week’s inauguration, saying he can’t stomach seeing President-elect Donald Trump take the oath of office. Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez, an Illinois Democrat who for years has led the push to legalize illegal immigrants, said Mr. Trump’s past remarks about racial and religious minorities — and particularly women — are ‘something I can never un-hear.” “Sorry. That is never OK,” Mr. Gutierrez said in a speech on the House floor. Instead, he said, he’ll participate in a women’s march a day later. He said he went to both inaugurations for former
Obama national security adviser Susan E. Rice said Tuesday that she is “rooting hard” for retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who will serve in the same key role for President-elect Donald Trump. “While it’s no secret that this administration has profound disagreements with the next one, I intend to make myself available to him, just as my predecessors have for me,” Ms. Rice said. “We are all patriots first and foremost. Threats to our security and democracy should be above partisanship.” Speaking at a transition conference at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington, Ms. Rice referred to a note
Citing fresh intelligence that freed Guantanamo Bay detainees are returning to terrorism, a top House Republican called on President Obama Tuesday to halt immediately any more releases from the prison. In a letter to the president, House Foreign Affairs Chairman Edward Royce, California Republican, said the administration knows that it’s transferring detainees to countries such as Uruguay that have little ability to prevent the terrorists’ return to the battlefield. “Your efforts to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay cannot come at the expense of U.S. national security,” Mr. Royce said. “In light of this dangerous revelation, I again ask
WASHINGTON — Democratic Missouri Rep. Lacy Clay wants to file a theft charge with Capitol Hill Police against Republican California Rep. Duncan Hunter for removing a painting in the capitol that depicts police officers as pigs. Clay told reporters Monday night that police spoke to his chief of staff earlier in the day and have not been helpful to the congressman in his quest to file charges against Hunter. “I think he was way out of bounds and he broke the law. It’s called theft,” Clay said. “I don’t think anyone up here is qualified to be an art critic. I’m not
Iranian-supplied rockets killed as many as 15 U.S. troops per month in Iraq in the summer of 2011, and Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis had a plan to retaliate. The Obama administration denied his request. Six U.S. soldiers were killed in a single such attack in early June of 2011, with another three killed just weeks later. Mattis, then the commander of U.S. Central Command, had had enough and decided the U.S. must strike back before the Iranian rockets caused further bloodshed. (Snip) The White House received the strike proposal and subsequently denied it. President Barack Obama was under the
Donald Trump has hit back at Meryl Streep calling her a ´Hillary lover´ after her Golden Globes acceptance speech took aim at the president-elect. Streep, who was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award on Sunday, slammed Trump in front of a room of stunned Hollywood stars. She said the moment he mocked and humiliated a disabled reporter ´broke her heart´ as Streep labelled it the year´s most stunning performance. Trump told the New York Times early Monday that he had not seen Streep´s speech or the Golden Globes coverage. Trump told the New York Times early Monday that he
Barbra Streisand is standing with Meryl Streep, who used her acceptance speech at Sunday´s Golden Globe Awards to criticize Donald Trump for lacking empathy and infamously mocking a disabled reporter in 2015. A day after Streep delivered her blistering rebuke of the president-elect, Streisand called in to Hardball With Chris Matthews and expressed her solidarity. I thought that [Streep] said what she said beautifully, Streisand remarked. Regarding Trump´s ridiculing of journalist Serge F. Kovaleski 14 months ago, Streisand added, I completely agree with Meryl. It was a heartbreaking moment and so beneath the dignity of the presidency, let alone any respectful person. What we need more in this world
Turning attention away from her and toward Donald J. Trump, Meryl Streep used her acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes to call out the president-elect for appearing to mock a disabled New York Times reporter in 2015, and warned that a free press would need to be defended. Ms. Streep campaigned for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. Some conservative commentators immediately criticized her decision to bring politics so vividly into the show. But the room roundly applauded her remarks, which included a plea to support the Committee to Protect Journalists.
Professor Michael Eric Dyson thinks that white people should have an ‘Individual Reparations Account’ to make donations to black institutions and individuals. (Snip) I agree with reparations, but maybe this is my white privilege speaking: I can’t imagine actually doing that. That is what I meant by an I.R.A.: an individual reparations account. You ain’t got to ask the government, you don’t have to ask your local politician — this is what you, an individual, conscientious, “woke” citizen can do. But charity can’t be the end of it, right? The Koch brothers gave the United Negro College Fund $25 million, but I
She is among the most famous and easily recognized women in the world, but first lady Michelle Obama feels "invisible" when she steps off her official stage, according to her best friend and ally in the White House. And the reason is a remarkable one considering that she and her husband, President Obama, are America´s first African-American presidential couple. According to top adviser Valerie Jarrett, Obama is invisible because she is black. In her new book about the importance of black mothers in America and how they walk a tightrope in society, White House correspondent April Ryan revealed that Jarrett
The Gold Star father who blasted Donald Trump at the Democratic convention this summer is returning to the national stage this week, firing off a letter demanding the Senate reject Sen. Jeff Sessions, Mr. Trump’s attorney general nominee. Khizr Khan, the Pakistan-born father of a U.S. Army captain killed in the Iraq war, said his son’s service was a rejection of people like Mr. Sessions, who he accused of associating with racially divisive and ‘intensely anti-Muslim” groups. Mr. Khan also said Mr. Sessions has defended proposals “that would single Muslim immigrants out for discriminatory treatment on the basis of their religious beliefs.” “My
One Silicon Valley executive had a few choice words to describe Americans living in the heart of the nation, and they were not flattering. Melinda Byerley, MBA and founder of Timeshare CMO, a Silicon Valley-based tech start-up, tweeted out Saturday afternoon describing what middle America could do to “get more jobs in their area.” Byerley says that the first thing those in middle America need to realize is that “no educated person wants to live in a sh**hole with stupid people.” Particularly, in a “sh**hole” filled with people who are “violent, racist, and/or misogynistic.” In Byerley’s opinion, “big corporations,” do
