Year in Review: We keep reading in the mainstream press how terrible 2016 was. We beg to differ. This year was a good one for many reasons. And next year will almost certainly be better. It was the Year of the Monkey - the year characterized by the high and mighty getting ´made a monkey of´ in the old Chinese almanac calendar. It sure as heck lived up to its name.

We got what we wanted so it was a good year for us!

Obama’s sanctions ‘gesture of
despair, poisoned gift’ for
Trump admin – Russian senator

Obama’s sanctions against Russia are simply a “gesture of despair” and could be a “poisoned gift” for the Trump administration, Aleksey Pushkov, Chairman of the Federation Council Mass Media Committee, told RT. The recent sanctions are an indication of the Obama Administration´s “incapacity to isolate Russia, to weaken Russia,” Pushkov said. The senator called the sanctions a measure of “vengeance and retaliation.” “Nothing actually worked out the way President Obama wanted it to work out,” he said, adding that the Obama administration wanted “to take revenge on Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin.” The new sanctions could be a problem

Kremlin response to Obama´s
expulsions? Laughter

Early Thursday, President Obama´s State Department posted notice of new sanctions against Russia and the expulsion of 35 diplomats in retaliation for its claimed (yet still unsubstantiated) allegations of Russian hacking of the U.S. election. The New York Times intoned that it was the greatest mass spy expulsion since the Cold War. But the Kremlin response? Laughter. Monitoring the Russian press and the Kremlin´s Twitter feed, there hasn´t been anything so far in the way of a response, but two embassies have been having a field day.

Obama´s Sanctions On Russia
Are Really Aimed At Trump

Cyberwar: President Obama, living up to his promise, has hit Russia with sanctions for hacking the U.S. election. We´re all for protecting America´s information grid. But the timing and Obama´s reasoning for the actions raise serious questions about the real motivation. "All Americans should be alarmed by Russia´s actions," President Obama said from his vacation in Hawaii. "Such activities have consequences." He then announced sanctions, including giving 35 Russian intelligence officials 72 hours to leave the country. He also levied sanctions against a number of high officials of Russia´s two main spy services, the GRU and FSB, along with companies that work

Shocker! Trump Plans To Privatize
The VA Just Like He Promised

Veterans´ Health: News headlines this week screamed about how President-elect Trump is considering a plan to partially privatize the Veterans Health Administration. Did nobody read his campaign website during the election? In July, Trump issued his 10-point plan to fix the VA. Number 10 on the list: "Mr. Trump will ensure every veteran has the choice to seek care at the VA or at a private service provider of their own choice. Under a Trump Administration, no veteran will die waiting for service. These days are over starting January 2017." At the time, we wrote that, while Trump´s plan wasn´t full-fledged privatization,

Trump Can Reverse Obama´s Betrayal
Of Israel By Defunding The U.N.

President Obama´s stunning decision to back Israel´s many enemies in the United Nations is one of the worst foreign policy decisions in decades. It´s a good thing that a new president will soon reverse this travesty, which further destabilizes the Mideast. Working hand-in-hand with Israel´s enemies, Obama and his Secretary of State John Kerry no doubt thought that they were pulling a clever trick on Israel, which has suffered repeated diplomatic insults and attempts at undermining its very existence during the Obama years. By abstaining in a vote that declared Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem illegal, the

Health Reform: On the eve of President-elect Donald Trump´s inauguration and the looming repeal of ObamaCare, Democrats are making claims that the law is just now starting to work as promised. It´s a convenient narrative for the left, but totally false. ObamaCare advocates point to a couple bits of news as evidence that after a rough year, the law appears to be stabilizing. Last week, the Obama administration celebrated what it called "a record" level of sign-ups, with enrollment up 400,000 from last year. "Today´s enrollment numbers confirm that some of the doomsday predictions about the marketplace are not bearing out," said Health

The US has ordered 35 Russian diplomats to leave the country in retaliation for alleged interference in the presidential election — and imposed sanctions on Russian officials and intelligence services for hacking political sites and email accounts, officials said. The State Department gave the 35 diplomats and their families 72 hours to leave the Russian Embassy in Washington and consulate in San Francisco. The government officials were declared personae non gratae for acting in a “manner inconsistent with their diplomatic status.” President Obama also said Russians will no longer have access to two Russian government-owned compounds in the US —

Washington-As his second term as President of the United States nears its end, Barack Obama reflected on the role friendship has played in his life in a wide-ranging exit interview with his friend and former senior adviser David Axelrod, saying his relationships have given him "serenity." "One gift I do seem to have is getting really, really good friends around me who´ve got my back. And that gives you a certain serenity in the midst of a lot of foolishness," Obama said in the latest episode of "The Axe Files" podcast. "Their relationships with me never depended on my success

Billionaire financier George Soros lashed out at President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday, calling him ´a con artist´ and a ´would-be dictator´ whose election this past November was a ´powerful boost´ to the ´forces of disintegration.´ Soros, the Hungarian-born magnate who supported Hillary Clinton´s candidacy as well as other liberal causes worldwide, says that the rise of Trump and his affinity for rulers like Russian President Vladimir Putin threaten the open society model championed by the European Union. ´Democracy is now in crisis,´ Soros writes in Project Syndicate. ´Even the US, the world´s leading democracy, elected a con artist and would-be dictator as its

Some things never change. In full alignment with President Obama, the ever faithful war monger Senator John McCain calls for a declaration of war against Russia. …and if you disagree with him, well, you’re “a Hobbit“, or “a crazy“… or something. (Via Reuters) […] Republican John McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said on Friday that Russia must face a penalty for the cyber attacks and that is was possible to impose many sanctions. “When you attack a country, it’s an act of war,” McCain said in an interview with the Ukrainian TV channel “1+1” while on a visit to

Mormons are urging a choir who are set to sing at Donald Trump´s presidential inauguration to refuse to perform at the event with one of the singers even resigning in protest. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir are one of a few acts to confirm they will sing at Trump´s swearing-in ceremony later next month. The group has already performed at the inaugurations of George Bush, George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan and added they were honoured to be picked to perform. But now it has emerged, a petition has been set up by fellow Mormons requesting that the choir do not perform at

Even The Huffington Post cannot let the down-ballot gutting of the Democrats go unnoticed. Senior politics editor Sam Stein was on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Wednesday, where he said that while Obama was re-elected twice proving himself to be an excellent candidate—his party has suffered catastrophic losses during his presidency. In all, the Democrats have lost 1,030 seats at the state and federal level, a wipeout of at least a generation of Democratic talent. Stein added that with such a political butcher’s bill, you have to ask whether this man was good for Democrats (via The Hill):

Mama Ayesha’s in Washington D.C. has been serving Middle Eastern food in the Adams Morgan neighborhood since 1960. Over the last seven years, however, it’s become known for something other than its food. In 2009, artist Karla “Karlisima” Rodas finished a mural that it took him two years to paint that depicts the restaurant’s founder, “Mama” Ayesha Abraham with every U.S. President since Dwight Eisenhower. A quick location search on Instagram for the restaurant turns up more photos of the mural than of the food. The mural is about to change, however. Or, rather, it won’t change.
