Obama Administration Yanks Second

PJ Media, by Liz Sheld

Last week, the Obama administration put the finishing touches on a new policy that would deprive recipients of disability insurance and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) of their Second Amendment rights. The administration will now characterize those citizens as "mental defectives," thereby having their ability to own a firearm subject to the federal Gun Control Act. Supplemental Security Income helps blind, disabled, and elderly people with little to no income. Previously, it was understood that "mentally defective" referred to one´s mental health. Citizens who have been institutionalized against their will are restricted from owning a firearm. The new definition of "mentally

#2, the Soviet Union used "mental illness" to justify incarcerating political enemies. It appears that the soon-to-be-gone administration is taking a page out of that playbook.

I don´t think this will stand Constitutional scrutiny, but the fact that zer0 and his cohorts are trying it is instructive.

Not so #7.

The phrase ´pro-forma´ is derived from Latin, meaning ´formality.´

Congress doesn’t consider itself adjourned or on recess if it’s ´meeting´ every three days. And that’s all it takes to block a recess appointment for the rest of the president’s term.

Syphilis, on the rise across the United States for more than a decade, surged in Philadelphia last year, a worrisome signal that yet-to-be reported national numbers might reflect a similar pattern. Infections rose 36 percent in 2016, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health reported Wednesday, driven largely by men who have sex with men. National numbers lag a year behind, but other big cities are experiencing similar spikes, said Caroline Johnson, acting deputy commissioner, who oversees disease control.
