HARRISBURG, Pa. — Green Party-backed voters dropped a court case Saturday night that had sought to force a statewide recount of Pennsylvania’s Nov. 8 presidential election, won by Republican Donald Trump, in what Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein had framed as an effort to explore whether voting machines and systems had been hacked and the election result manipulated. (Snip) Lawyers for Trump and the state Republican Party argued there was no evidence, or even an allegation, that tampering with Pennsylvania´s voting systems had occurred. Further, Pennsylvania law does not allow a court-ordered recount, they argued, and a lawyer for
Comments: Prayers were offered for the November 8th election; prayers of gratitude for that answered blessing, as well as prayers to protect that victory from being undermined by the Left would be most appropriate at this time.
Until Donald Trump has been actually declared the winner by the Electoral College count, I will trust absolutely nothing that the left is doing. For decades they have been "finding" previously uncounted votes for their candidates.
Though more optimistic I am still very CAUTIOUSLY optimistic but agree with #4. Even with the statewide recount going away I have no confidence in Allegheny County not yet certifying its vote and whatever shenanigans can happen in any recount in Montgomery or other counties where voters filed - I hope that the state was correct when it said that they all filed a week too late.
The other piece of this where it might be helpful is that it may strengthen the Attorney General´s argument in Michigan that Stein is not "aggrieved".
That is because the fix is in where Allegheny and Philadelphia Counties alone recount and magically find just enough votes to give Hillary the state. I hope you didn´t fall for the "can´t afford it" talking point.
The only thing Hillary has to fear if she swindles this election is a Republican Senate and House continuing investigations. The DOJ will stonewall but there is still a chance Hillary may not want to pull off any more crimes.
This witch is either stone cold crazy or she´s in fear of her life. Since dropping the case in the state court, she is going to file in federal court. My (crazy??) theory is Hillary holds her responsible for getting enough votes to cost her the election, and is threatening her if she doesn´t make the recount happen.
She can´t pursue it in Federal court. This is a state issue. The results are a piece of the EV to be sure, but what if this occurred October 15? It would be kicked back and she would be told "state law, take it up with them" and close it.
They can count all they want. None of it is official and none of it means anything.
The March for Science is tomorrow and no one in their right mind would say they are against it because of its name. First of all, you are standing against the right of people to march for whatever cause they wish. Second, you would be portrayed as someone who is against science. I am all for science. I think the climate changes. It always has and always will. Yet I have been portrayed as anti-science and a climate change “denier” by many who will be marching for things I certainly believe in. Just who does not believe in science? It’s
Bethlehem (Palestinian Territories) - Down a Bethlehem alleyway, sunlight illuminates a golden icon of the Virgin Mary and Jesus, signalling the revival of an ancient art being practised in the workshop inside. The building near the Church of the Nativity -- the site where Christians believe Jesus was born -- houses a group of enthusiasts specialising in the sacred art of iconography. They are doing so some 2,000 years after Christian iconography began in nearby Jerusalem -- also where Christians believe Jesus was resurrected after his crucifixion, to be commemorated this Sunday for Easter.
In the past few months, we’ve witnessed an assortment of leftist groups trying their best to advance a discredited and pernicious narrative that attempts to link the current administration with a spike in white nationalist anti-Semitism. There is little if any empirical data to support this contention. In fact, we now know that those responsible for the majority of bomb threats directed against Jewish community centers across the U.S. have absolutely no connection to white nationalist groups.(Snip)Unfortunately, these very leftist groups--including the SouthernPoverty LawCenter and the fringe AnneFrankCenterforMutualRespect--which did their best to derail Trump with hoaxes and false narratives pertaining
Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said Wednesday that there is “more than circumstantial evidence now” to suggest that President Donald Trump’s campaign may have colluded with Russia’s attempts to disrupt the election, but he would not offer details. (Snip) “I don’t want to go into specifics, but I will say that there is evidence that is not circumstantial and is very much worthy of investigation, so that is what we ought to do,” Schiff said.
WASHINGTON — A network of some of the nation’s wealthiest Democratic donors is weighing providing money and support to several of the new activist groups that have cropped up since Election Day to challenge President Trump and his agenda. Organizers of January’s Women’s March on Washington and leaders of Indivisible will make presentations later this week to the Democracy Alliance when the influential donor coalition holds its private spring meeting in Washington, the group’s president Gara LaMarche said. (Snip) The alliance, aligned with billionaire financier George Soros, also is weighing building a pool of money that can be deployed for
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Monday accused Democrats of making up allegations that Russia interfered in last year´s election, and said Congress and the FBI should be going after media leaks instead. His tweets came just hours before a potentially politically damaging hearing in which FBI Director James Comey and National Security Agency Director Michael Rogers planned to testify on allegations of Russian hacking and whether there were any connections between Moscow and Trump´s campaign. “The Democrats made up and pushed the Russian story as an excuse for running a terrible campaign. Big advantage in Electoral College & lost!”
Republican senators are asking Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to investigate claims that U.S. taxpayer money is being used to back left-wing billionaire George Soros´ political meddling and similar efforts overseas. A letter sent Tuesday asked for a probe into how U.S. funds are being used by agencies such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to back left-wing political groups in other countries. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, one of the co-signers, even said foreign officials and political leaders have come to him with "reports of U.S. activity in their respective countries."
A man carrying a backpack was arrested Friday night after breaching security at the White House complex and was discovered by a Secret Service officer by the south entrance to the executive residence, officials said. The incident happened just before midnight while President Donald Trump was at the White House. A Secret Service source said the intruder might have entered the White House grounds on the east side before making his way near the residence´s south portico entrance. (Snip) The President was spending the weekend in Washington and was alerted to the incident late Friday night, an administration official said.
A senior Senate Democrat is asking the Treasury Department to evaluate whether President Donald Trump and his family´s business associates and possible investors from Russia and other countries have violated U.S. laws against financing terrorism, money laundering and other illicit activities. Trump´s refusal to jettison or disclose investments that create potential conflicts of interest raises concern over his extensive international holdings, Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio said in a letter Thursday to the new Treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin. Brown is the senior Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee. Brown asked Mnuchin whether he has requested or received from Trump and
President Trump welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to the White House on Friday. Before the two world leaders held a press conference, they met in the Oval Office and shook hands. That 19-second handshake is one of the most talked about things on Twitter right now. “I shook hands but I grabbed him and hugged him because that’s the way I feel,” Trump said at the press conference in the East Room later. Trump and Abe are flying to Mar-a-Lago for a round of golf and “long talk” this weekend. (Entire article.)
A Texas high school art teacher has been placed on administrative leave after video surfaced showing her “shooting” President Donald Trump inside a classroom while screaming, “Die!” The Secret Service field office in Irving tells me they are aware of the incident, but declined further comment. (Snip) Video of the inauguration was being broadcast inside the classroom on a whiteboard. The video shows the teacher lunging at President Trump and firing the squirt gun numerous times while shouting, “Die!” It is disturbing, to say the least. Dallas Independent School District seems to be taking the matter quite seriously.
Josef Joffe, the editor-publisher of German weekly Die Zeit, suggests the easiest way to end the “Trump catastrophe” is to murder the president in the White House. Joffe joined panel show ARD-Presseclub to answer questions from the public. A viewer called in to ask if it was possible to impeach President Donald Trump and end the “catastrophe.” “There has to be a qualified two-thirds majority of the Senate in order for a removal of office to take place,” a female panelist responded. (Snip) Joffe then jumped in with a calm response. “Murder in the White House, for example,” he said. Link repaired by Staff
Fox News host Sean Hannity has been forced to deny he sexually harassed a former contributor. Debbie Schlussel said the prime time anchor invited her back to his hotel in Detroit after a debate. After she turned down his advances, she claims she wasn´t invited back on his show. In an interview with Tulsa, Oklahoma-based radio host Pat Campbell, she said: ´This kind of stuff is all over the place at Fox News and anything that has to do with Sean Hannity.´ Her comments came just two days after Bill O´Reilly was fired from Fox News over similar allegations. Hannity
Barack Obama has agreed to a $400,000 fee for speaking to a prominent Wall Street firm, according to Charlie Gasparino of the Fox Business Network. Former president Obama will speak to a health care conference sponsored by Cantor Fitzgerald in September, Gasparino reports. (Tweet/Video) The huge fee puts Obama at the top of the list of speaking fees for former government officials. Former Fed chair Ben Bernanke charges between $200,000 and $400,000, former Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner charges $200,000, and former President George Bush charges around $150,000, according to a person familiar with the matter. Hillary Clinton received over $200,000
SAN FRANCISCO — A federal judge in San Francisco has blocked a Trump administration order to withhold funding from communities that limit cooperation with U.S. immigration authorities. U.S. District Judge William Orrick issued the temporary ruling Tuesday in a lawsuit over the executive order targeting so-called sanctuary cities. The decision will stay in place while the lawsuit moves through court. The Republican president’s administration and two California governments that sued over the order disagreed about its scope. San Francisco and Santa Clara County argued that it threatened billions of dollars in federal funding. But an attorney for the Justice Department,
Monday on MSNBC former Obama White House press secretary Josh Earnest said former President Barack Obama would come back to the political debate if President Donald Trump crosses “red lines” such as using information from deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) applications to deport so-called DREAMers. (Snip) “I think what would motivate President Obama to re-engage in the political debate is if we saw the federal government start to cross some clear red lines in terms of long observed norms and values that frankly I think we have started to take for granted. One example that President Obama has himself
Sean Hannity is the latest Fox News personality facing allegations of sexual harassment. During a Friday interview with Tulsa, Oklahoma-based radio host Pat Campbell, former Fox News contributor Debbie Schlussel accused Hannity of inviting her to his hotel room before and after a debate with a pro-Palestinian guest in Detroit. Schlussel said she rejected Hannity’s alleged advances and that she was never invited on his show again. Schlussel and Hannity were scheduled to speak together at the Detroit show, Schlussel said. But before the show, Hannity allegedly invited her to an event at a nearby bookstore. “He had some event at a bookstore
The entire U.S. Senate has been invited to the White House for a briefing Wednesday on the North Korea situation, amid escalating tensions over the country’s missile tests and bellicose rhetoric. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer confirmed the upcoming briefing, for all 100 senators, on Monday. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats plan to provide the update to lawmakers. It is rare for the entire Senate to be invited to such a briefing. Spicer clarified that while the event will
Former President Barack Obama on Monday partly blamed the nation´s splintered politics on a media structure that lets people only listen to or read media outlets they agree with, which prevents them from hearing the other side. "Because of changes in the media, we now have a situation in which everybody is listening to people who already agree with them, and are further and further reinforcing their own realities to the neglect of the common reality that allows us to have a healthy debate, and then try to find common ground and actually move solutions forward," Obama said in his
Ex-President Barack Obama is the mystery man of American politics. Given the absence of a viable paper trail, nobody can say for sure who he is. He manifests for us as a figure of multiple identities: a Christian, a Muslim, a secularist, a socialist, a humanist, an intellectual, a man of the people. His lack of definable substance, his inner absence, has been an important political advantage. As Obama himself confessed (or boasted) in The Audacity of Hope, this layering of anonymities enabled him to “serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—I’m loving all these Ancestry.com commercials where dim-witted actors say, “I thought I was a Tahitian Eskimo Mexican until I sent in my DNA test kit, and boy was I flummoxed when the results came back! I’m really Croatian with a mix of sub-Saharan! I guess I’ll be turning in my furry hat!” This is a scam I’m thoroughly in favor of, because it reveals, once and for all, the dirty secret of American politics: Race doesn’t exist! Don’t get me wrong. I don’t believe for a second that these tests mean anything. If you believe that DNA patterns
Liberal activist and Hollywood director Rob Reiner slammed President Donald Trump on Monday and suggested that Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election was the "greatest attack" on American democracy since Japan´s attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. "We´ve had the greatest attack of this democracy since 1941, and we have to understand that," Reiner said on MSNBC. Reiner also suggested that American society might collapse given the pressure Russia placed on democratic institutions in the country. Japan drew the United States into World War II after attacking its naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941, killing
A group of executives who want to fight global warming has published a new report calling for countries to spend up to $600 billion a year over the next two decades to boost green energy deployment and energy efficiency equipment. [SNIP] To meet that goal ETC claims the world needs “investment in renewables and other low-carbon technologies some $6 trillion higher ($300 billion per year); while the largest required increases – of almost $9 trillion ($450 billion per year) – will be in more efficient energy saving equipment and buildings.” That’s a $15 trillion price tag to theoretically limit future
It was a message repeated several times at a Democrat news conference Tuesday afternoon: Republicans, agree with us on a spending bill, or we’ll blame you for shutting down the government. And it appears that Republicans, who control all three branches of government, are listening: “Now last night, we received a bit of good news -- not just for Democrats but for the country – that the president is easing off his demands for a border wall in the government funding bill,” Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told the news conference. “The money is better used elsewhere,” Schumer said. “If the
