Networks: ´Tough´ Obama ´Wasted No

After President Obama admitted on Thursday that he had "no strategy" for dealing with the ISIS terrorist network, on Wednesday, the network morning shows rushed to portray the aimless commander-in-chief as a tough-talking leader ready to "destroy" the radical killers. At the top of ABC´s Good Morning America, co-host George Stephanopoulos hyped: "President Obama´s tough words to the ISIS terrorists who executed American journalist Steven Sotloff." In the report that followed, correspondent Brian Ross proclaimed: "President Obama vowed that ISIS will pay the price for the murder of a second American journalist. The President delivered fighting words this morning..." [Listen

Oh, please. With his ashen, vacant face, and his shoulders looking narrower than ever (without his boxy tan used car salesman suit), he looked and sounded anything but tough. His words were the same empty pap he´s been spewing for how long?

He has made a fool of himself here and abroad as well.

Pope orders review of annulment
process to simplify procedure
Reuters, by Philip Pullella    Original Article
Posted By: Drive- 9/20/2014 3:39:51 PM     Post Reply
VATICAN CITY - Pope Francis has ordered a review aimed at simplifying the Church´s procedures for annulments, the Vatican said on Saturday, a move that could make it easier for Catholics to end marriages. A statement said Francis had appointed an 11-member commission of canon lawyers and theologians to propose reform of the process, "seeking to simplify and streamline it while safeguarding the principle of the indissolubility of marriage". An annulment, formally known as a "decree of nullity," is a ruling that a marriage was not valid in the first place according to Church law because certain pre-requisites, such as free will, psychological maturity and openness to having children, were lacking.

A lot of National Football League players have been right up on the front page lately, but for all the wrong reasons. Ray Rice is in serious trouble for knocking his then-fiancé out cold—the tape of the event is enough to make almost anyone at least slightly ill. Adrian Peterson will soon be up on charges for punishing his four-year-old son with a switch. Two other ballers of an especially hard-nosed type are also in trouble with the law over domestic abuse. Greg Hardy of the Carolina Panthers has been convicted of the crime: his case is on appeal.

Joe Biden pulls off

Vice President Biden´s Wednesday kicked off with an acknowledgment that he had used a "poor choice of words." By day´s end, he had put foot in his mouth again. Twice. Biden opened the door to the possibility the United States could commit ground troops to fight the Islamic State in Iraq, a strategy the Obama administration has painstakingly avoided raising. That came shortly after he walked back his use of the word "Shylocks" and his use of the anachronistic term "Orient" to describe Asia. Even for the gregarious and outspoken vice president, whose candor has all too often gotten him into hot

John Travolta is feeling his celebrity Achilles heel aching after claims that he´s gay and a lawsuit to boot. "This is every celebrity´s Achilles heel," the 60-year-old actor told The Daily Beast in an interview published Tuesday. Travolta was referring to the lawsuit by Douglas Gotterba, a former pilot for his aircraft company, Alto, who worked for him in the ´80s and is alleging they were also lovers. Gotterba is seeking the right to publish a tell-all book about their romance. "It´s just about people wanting money," the award-winning actor said. "That´s all. It happens on many levels."

David Gregory, the ousted moderator of NBC´s "Meet The Press," thinks Washington´s political media are too lazy to go against the "narrative." Moderating a panel at the No Labels´s National Strategic Agenda meeting on Wednesday, Gregory said journalists often fail to report on anything that fights the set narrative in Washington media. “[I]n Washington political journalism the narrative gets set, and it gets set early and built on. And things that fight the narrative get harder to report out, I think, often because of laziness in media,” Gregory said. “I think that the media…has gotten very attached to the idea that Washington

Obamacare´s ´family glitch´

Nearly two million Americans could be affected by what’s been termed the “family glitch” within President Obama’s healthcare law, according to a new study by the American Action Forum. In theory, Obamacare is supposed to offer fully or partially subsidized health insurance to Americans below a certain income threshold if they do not have the option of obtaining affordable coverage through their employers. "Affordable" is defined as coverage cheaper than 9.5 percent of household income. But under a ruling by the Internal Revenue Service, an employer is only required to offer affordable coverage to individuals. The “glitch” arises when one or both spouses

Power outages linked to L.A.´s intense heat wave rolled across the city Tuesday. As temperatures approached dangerous highs, harried crews restored service to one area only to be sent to another blackout. The scorching heat wave has pushed demand for electricity to an all-time high, and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power dispatched extra crews to respond to damaged equipment that had left thousands of customers without service. As of 10 a.m., there were 3,300 customers without power, most of them in Los Feliz and Hollywood.

It may be thought that as an Australian I have no right to publish an opinion on American politics, but the whole world has an interest in who leads America. Your hopes and fears are ours. So, as one who has watched Obama’s policies of defeatism, retreat, and serial blundering with dismay, here goes. Dr. Ben Carson has many qualities that make him superbly suitable for high office: he has, pre-eminently, brains and force of character. No one can read his biography and fail to be impressed by his achievements and credentials. He is a fine speaker, and his background is, unlike

I don´t blame Rubio for not discussing whether he indulged n his youth or not. He is a public official with young children and carries a different responsibility than the rest of us. On the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, President Obama used the occasion last week to remind Americans that “our combat mission in Afghanistan will come to an end” in three months. But the cost to U.S. taxpayers for reconstruction in Afghanistan will continue. The U.S. has spent $104 billion to rebuild Afghanistan’s security forces, infrastructure, economy, and health care and education sectors. America is spending more on the effort this year alone than it’s spending on foreign assistance for Israel, Iraq, Egypt and Pakistan combined, said John Sopko, special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction.

As a select House committee probing the 2012 attacks in Benghazi convenes Wednesday, three Democratic outside groups are mobilizing to protect Hillary Clinton from any fallout. In a plan shared with POLITICO, officials with the pro-Hillary Clinton group Correct the Record, working with the Democratic research super PAC American Bridge, said they will launch a new website, www.benghazicommittee.com. It’s a research hub that is designed like a news site and will issue detailed, rapid responses to charges against Clinton — mimicking the way a campaign would defend a candidate in real time during a presidential debate.

WASHINGTON — Kurdish fighters battling ISIS desperately want more guns and armor, but they already have a secret weapon: The fanatics they’re fighting fear that if they get killed in combat by a woman, they won’t go to heaven. “They have many female battalions, as you know who fought very bravely,” Rep. Washington - The Secret Service is coming under intense scrutiny after a man who hopped the White House fence made it all the way through the front door before being apprehended. President Barack Obama and his daughters had just departed the White House on Friday evening when an intruder scaled the north fence, darted across the lawn and into the presidential residence, where agents nabbed him. The security breach triggered a rare evacuation of much of the White House, with Secret Service officers drawing their guns as they rushed staffers and journalists out a side door.

Three and a half months have come and gone and the Pentagon has offered no clarity on what happened to alleged Army deserter and Taliban collaborator Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Fellow soldiers and other critics fear the military’s now-delayed investigation is shaping up to be a whitewash. The case has become a political powder keg for President Obama. Since he traded five imprisoned Taliban leaders for Bergdahl, the US Government Accountability Office has declared the swap illegal, and nearly two dozen House Democrats have joined Republicans in officially condemning the move for making “Americans less safe.”

The French did for President Obama on Friday what they refused to do for his predecessor — they joined the fight in Iraq. Two Rafale fighter planes armed with laser-guided bombs “entirely destroyed” an Islamic State munitions depot and killed dozens of ISIS fighters, making France the first coalition country to make good on its promise to battle the murderous militants. “Other operations will follow in the coming days with the same goal — to weaken this terrorist organization and come to the aid of the Iraqi authorities,” French President Francois Hollande vowed. The National Security Advisor of the United States did something astonishing yesterday. In the middle of a reporter’s questioning, she bolted from the podium of the White House pressroom, saying, “Nice to see you,” fleeing a situation she evidently was unable to cope with. The question that caused Ms. Rice to flee was a fairly simple one: whether or not the president has authorized the bombing of targets in Syria. Rice responded multiple times that the timing of strikes would not be released, but that was not the question at hand, and reporters pressed her on whether her boss had authorized
