Obama vows to ‘destroy and degrade’
Islamic State after Sotloff beheading

Washington Times (D.C), by Ben Wolfgang

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 9/3/2014 6:23:14 AM

President Obama said Wednesday that the federal government has authenticated a video showing the beheading of American journalist Steven Sotloff at the hands of Islamist militants, and the U.S. objective now is to “degrade and destroy” those militants so they no longer pose a threat to the civilized world. Speaking at a press conference alongside Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves in the Estonian capital of Tallinn, Mr. Obama seemed to lay the groundwork for expanded U.S. action against the terrorist group known as the Islamic State, also known by the acronyms ISIL and ISIS. The U.S. continues to target Islamic State

Indeed! And he´s going to "annihilate and inconvenience" them after that.

Does this guy EVER think before speaking? Does he not have any educated advisors?

It is utterly painful to watch and listen to this man try to speak clearly on any subject, but especially this one. You can tell he is so conflicted about our military goals and the welfare of our country.

He is in so far over his head and obviously has decided to surround himself with the likes of "dude boy". It´s no wonder he feels more comfortable campaigning and golfing.

"Seemed to lay the groundwork for..." This is not believable at this point. Obama is no David, no Jack the giant killer.

More likely he´s an accomplice to the weakening of America.

Just a little more blah, blah, blah for the LOFO.

"Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as ´one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.´ Here is the first lines of that prayer:"

Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet…

It´s obvious he has been forced by overwhelming pressure, including from key players in his own party, to "do something". Or at least make noises like he´s going to do something. We´ll see.

So far, sending only an additional 350 troops isn´t going to "destroy and degrade" much of anything. He clearly does not want to damage his allies (ISIS, Iran). So this will be an interesting kabuki dance to watch.

Same statement he said ISIL should be a "manageable problem".

Oh, okay, so if they attack occasionally, is that a "manageable problem"?

I agree with the Seal´s mom who said that BO has to go. He´s not willing to do his job. He doesn´t want to act against Islam and destroy. Why? I think we all know the answer to that.

Which is it? "Degrade" or "destroy"? If you destroy something, there is no need to "degrade" it -- it´s been degraded by its destruction.

I believe that after a few head feints to this side or that, lobbing a few rockets here and there, Obama´s threat will turn out to be useless in "destroying" or even "degrading", except maybe temporarily, the biggest threat to America in my lifetime.

We know POTUS cannot be trusted. He has said that these latest 350 sent in to get ISIS "will not be combat" troops. So what are they? mahjong instructors?

The president also said the U.S. will seek to build an effective “regional coalition” capable of defeating the Islamic State....

Obama-speak for Iran to send more of its troops into Iraq. Iranian ground and air forces and the brutal Iraqi Shiite militia that Iran arms and trains stopped ISIS advance on Bagdhad. Obama will soon have US air forces attacking ISIS in northern Iraq and Syria, which will mean that Obama is assisting Syria´s dictator, Assad to remain in power. Not mentioned by Obama is that Iran also has 10,000 fighters supporting Assad´s war against moderate & extremist rebels.

In 2015, Iran will be the dominant power in the region, with a large conventional military and most likely nuclear weapons. Israel will be under greater threat since Iran is the major arms supplier to Hamas and Hezbollah while Saudi Arabia and the oil states will fear further Iranian expansion. Obama´s "regional coalition" will not bring peace to the Middle East.

Sorry for the blank post, my iPad has the yips this morning. Evidently, Obama is being pushed to address this issue. It clearly is not something he wants to do. He is very uncomfortable addressing possible military action against Muslims even these barbaric savages. It is as if a part of him wants no part of it. We see little righteous indignation that we would expect to see from a President who is confronted by these horrific acts perpetrated against American journalists. He can´t seem to anticipate ISIS´s actions even though they clearly articulate them beforehand. When they were marching across the desert, it would have been the perfect opportunity to strike them and prevent the death and destruction they left in their wake. Now they are stronger, better equipped and flush with cash. It makes no sense. Frankly, he wouldn´t be doing anything now if public pressure wasn´t mounting. He knows this looks bad politically and that is what is motivating him to act. If he had an interest in saving these guys, he had more than a year to make that happen and apparently it wasn´t on his radar. However, he has been focused like a laser beam on his golf game, vacations, and fund raising.

The DIC has always talked a good game but I will begin to pay attention when there has been some effective action. Dropping cases of water to starving people and bombing a few artillery positions constitute nothing more than attempted appeasement of those who consider him useless and clueless (which he is).

The time to engage ISIS was long ago. The longer he dithers the more lives will be lost.

The walls are closing in around Obama and it is obvious he knows it. It Really grates on him. By putting degrade at end of sentence it is probably code for containment, only, which is NOT going to work. The destroy reference is just a bone for the naive. This could be a great opportunity for us: although there appears to be insufficient testosterone in DC to force him out before his term is up, Republican victory in 2016 will be assured if ISIS scores a direct hit on US homeland. BTW is that missing Malaysian jet still in play, for 09/11/14?

Obama is about as likely to destroy ISIS as those politicians who passed the CFL light bulb law, who also made financial investments in them, are to vote to pull CFL´s off the market.

Remember the glum, stricken looks on the MSM´s faces when they had to announce Saddam Hussein had been captured? Remember how they made it seem like Barack Hussein had slain bin Laden with his bare hands, in a Call so incredibly Gutsy that Lightbringer was beyond Alexander and Napoleon in military genius? Remember how the MSM covered-up and lied for every Democrat who rooted for American loss in the War on Terror by trying to take down the commander in chief pre-2008? We can only be sure that the MSM will deal with Commander Choom´s dealings with ISIS as dishonestly as they possibly can.

Remember, Obama doesn´t like the concepts of winners and losers, victors and vanquished, preferring instead to do a little surgical bombing and then negotiate "the peace" with a properly chastened and rebuked adversary whose point of view must be considered as being equally as valid as America´s. The "strategy" he claims not to have is a strategy to bring ISIS to the bargaining table, NOT a strategy for their defeat. "Destroy and degrade" refers to their equipment and capability, not ISIS itself, and once they have gotten their comeuppance he can send John Kerry to talk to them. Interesting dream world he lives in. If only the world worked that way. Obama will NOT defeat ISIS. Stop asking.

He said it! After 2 beheadings, he´s going to ORGANIZE! That´s all he knows how to do! And isn´t it interesting that he thinks he has the ability to *unite* other countries when he´s spent the last 6 years *dividing* everyone in America?

When there is a metastasizing tumor, you MIGHT "degrade" it first, hit it with chemotherapy to shrink it. But then, you ERADICATE it, excise it.

The goal is to destroy every cell of the cancer so that it does not re-appear in another part of the body.

Would BO tell a physician to wait and watch a tumor on the brain of one of his children, or someone he really cares about, himself?

As the cancer spread, would he say it´s just a virus?

Everyone knew and knows that ISIS is now a raging cancer.

You only "manage" cancer when there is nothing else you can do. The fact that BO mixes up how we will deal with ISIS is evidence of his inner conflict between his fantasy world and the gory reality in his lap.

This is why a few days ago he is ranting against Republicans at a Labor Day rally. And today, a somnambulant foggy-brain drones on and on and on...

Destroy and degrade are two different things. Which is it? Already see Obama giving himself an out, and telegraphing his intentions to his enemy allies (our enemies, his allies). The guy is treasonable.

What exactly does he mean by degrade? Keep them out of Bagdad? Throw them out of Iraq, but leave them in Syria?

His sincerity is questionable. Especially considering past actions. He is a liar.

He could put on a display of power and declare victory. The media would cover for him.

The only way you can "degrade" an organization like ISIS is to stop them completely into the ground. They don´t know anything else. If just 1 or 2 are left, they will rise up like the Thunder Bird from their ashes. And Obozo isn´t smart enough to understand that like any ordinary person does.

This reminds me of an alcoholic that takes an oath to quit drinking forever. Two hours later he is drunk on his rear end. The only thing that is going to get destroyed and degraded is his golf cart and credibility. 9-11 is right around the corner and you can bet a dozen Titleist golf balls and a hot dog and a beer at the turn our friends in the Islamic terrorist world are going to attack us on multiple fronts. 9-11 is the day we will be attacked by terrorists for ever more. Just like Christmas and Easter comes every year for Christians, 9-11 is the day they wait for and plan on to celebrate their victory over America by attacking again. With no strategy to counter this probability, all that can happen is when it does go down, he will blame it all on Bush again.

With one month until Election Day, Republicans´ chances for retaking the Senate and picking up seats in the House are improving. The GOP has been buoyed by positive public polling, while red-state Democrats are still struggling to find distance from President Obama. There are bright spots and even some unexpected new targets on the map for both parties, but the overall national environment seems to have ticked a bit toward Republicans. The GOP needs to win a net of six seats to retake control of the Senate, and Republicans seem better-positioned to do so now than they did through much of

President Obama famously derided the Supreme Court over the Citizens United decision in a State of the Union address. Obama’s bashing of that First Amendment decision is also central in the scandal involving Internal Revenue Service targeting of Tea Party applicants for tax-exempt status. Lois Lerner followed Obama’s lead to suppress speech. Thursday, in an address at Northwestern University, however, Obama unwittingly undermined a whole regime of regulation of election-related speech. As reported at The Daily Caller: President Barack Obama gave GOP campaigns and right-wing super PAC’s across the nation fodder to

One would think that Friday’s announcement that the unemployment rate had fallen to its lowest point since Barack Obama took office would be good news for the president. Yet as the unemployment rate has declined, President Obama’s job approval rating has worsened. So it’s not clear how much of an effect modest changes in the economy’s condition will have on his approval ratings. (Snip) The latest unemployment numbers will be the last ones released before the midterm elections, and Mr. Obama is trying to leverage them to his party’s advantage. The surprising Ebola connection to chocolate

Just when you thought you knew all the consequences of the Ebola pandemic, here’s another one: it could affect the supply of chocolate. Of course that doesn’t rise to the seriousness of illness and death, but it does show how much Ebola affects trade and production. An estimated 70% of the world’s cocoa beans come from the West African countries of Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon. Ivory Coast is the world’s largest producer, exporting 37.8% of the world’s cocoa, according to the Wall Street Journal. (In fact, Ivory Coast just posted a record harvest and the government increased its

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama celebrated 22 years of marriage Friday and the husband-in-chief offered marriage advice to a new bride while at a stop in Princeton, Indiana. "He´ll screw up a bunch," Mr. Obama said. "Eventually we learn, but it takes us a little longer, because we´re not as smart." For her part, the first lady, who Obama said "has been very patient with me," tweeted a photo from their wedding, which took place Oct. 3, 1992, wishing her spouse a happy anniversary. (Tweet)

While small towns and cities throughout the country are gearing up for Halloween, one city in Ohio has a different kind of municipal decor — Planned Parenthood banners. Panetta chided the president´s team in his forthcoming memoir, excerpts of which have been published in the media. He alleges the White House didn´t try hard enough to strike a deal with Iraq in 2011 to leave a residual force of U.S. troops behind, in turn opening the door for the region to become a haven for the Islamic State. The dictionary defines nepotism as, “the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.” It perhaps should come to no surprise to anyone even remotely aware of the ethical scandals permeating Democrats in the State Senate that a new scandal should emerge surrounding untoward hiring practices in the State Senate, and a cover-up by Senate Leadership. In the first chapter that addresses the encounter, Dunham describes the "ill-fated evening of lovemaking" as awkward and hollow. It’s the “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” A New York appeals court next week will consider whether chimps should have the same rights as human beings. The extraordinary proceeding is the result of a lengthy battle by animal-rights activists who argue that animals with human qualities — including chimps — are entitled to human protections, including freedom from captivity. Steven Wise, part of the Nonhuman Rights Project, which is leading the effort, will have to convince a panel of Albany appellate judges that a chimp name Tommy is a “legal person” to get him moved from a cage

President Obama was at Northwestern University on Thursday to deliver an economic speech that, he and his team hoped, would lay out the case for why the public is better off today than they were six years ago -- even if they didn´t feel it in their everday lives. Instead, Obama just gave every Republican ad-maker in the country more fodder for negative ads linking Democratic candidates to him. Here are the four sentences that will draw all of the attention (they come more than two thirds of the way through the speech): "I am not on the ballot this

It is the stuff that nightmares are made of, and day by day it is getting worse. The Ebola epidemic, says Dr Margaret Chan, director-general of the World Health Organisation (WHO), is now “the greatest peacetime challenge” since the Second World War. Yet her own organisation’s tardiness, partly caused by cuts, together with reductions in--and misuse of--funds elsewhere, are largely responsible for Ebola spiralling out of control. ATLANTA — Texas, America’s second-most populous state behind California, saw 13 of its last abortion clinics turn away women on Friday, after a federal appeals court upheld a law that practically guarantees that only a handful of clinics will remain open in the state. The strictest-of-its-kind Texas law requires abortion providers to build hospital-grade facilities and obtain sometimes impossible-to-get hospital admitting privileges. After signed into law last year by Gov. Rick Perry (R), the law forced most of the 41 clinics operating to close. Thursday’s ruling wiped out a brief victory this summer for abortion rights proponents,
