Outraged over the theft of nude
Jennifer Lawrence photos? I´m not

Los Angeles Times, by Robin Abcarian

What is wrong with me? I can’t seem to work up any kind of outrage over news that nude photos of celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence and Rihanna were pilfered, possibly from iCloud storage accounts and passed around over the Labor Day weekend on sites, including Perez Hilton, Reddit and 4Chan. I maintain now, and have always maintained, that if you are a celebrity and you make a sex tape, you should not expect it to stay private. If you are a celebrity, and you pose nude for digital photos, you should not expect them to stay private. Especially if

#1 Vanity and Stupidity.

If these starlets want nude pictures of themselves, don´t put them in the cloud. It´s idiotic.

Have to disagree with the "publicity" angle, at least regarding Jennifer Lawrence. She hardly needs to seek out attention at this stage of her career, especially with "Mockingjay" due out in a couple months.
I just can´t believe that any of these women are still that naive about putting anything sensitive into the cyber-verse.

What #7 said. Yes. I agree.

On almost any day, everywhere, you can see Kate Upton in so little "clothing" that she might as well be nude. Carl´s Jr. commercials come to mind. She has made her fortune on her big boobs and her lack of modesty in publicly exposing as much of them as the law will allow.

It is ironic that the stock photos being used on TV to accompany this non-story show these very women in verrrry skimpy attire and provocative poses aimed to maximize exposure.

And no, the rest of us do not have to worry about our photos. But how many of us have nude photos (for starters) and how many would put them on their cell phones if they did have them?

They appear naked onscreen so privacy or embarrassment isn´t really the issue. A good practice for celebrities (and everyone else) is not to have nude photos taken unless you don´t mind them being made public.

The celebrities in question do go about in public without much on anyway. And it seems to me to be an extreme form of vanity and obsessive to take all these pictures of yourself in sexual poses.

It is wrong though for anyone to hack into people´s private accounts and display these pictures. I would go so far as to say it´s wrong to show them to others even if you´ve been sent some of these personally. It is a matter of trust. Ultimately I think it´s about these women hopefully eventually realizing their worth is not in taking and sending all these pictures of their bodies for attention and affirmation. It shows a lack of respect for themselves and it tells the world what they think is important--using their bodies to get whatever it is they´re looking for.
