The Osteens’ Donald Sterling Moment
The Federalist, by Hans Fiene

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 9/2/2014 10:13:47 PM

When Donald Sterling had to sell the Los Angeles Clippers because he was caught on tape saying he didn’t want his mistress bringing black people to his basketball games, many people cheered. But if you had paid much attention to Sterling prior to the TMZ-leaked audio, you probably didn’t cheer—not because you weren’t troubled by Sterling’s comments, but because Sterling’s downfall over those particular comments felt a bit anticlimactic. (Snip) At a recent service, Ms. Osteen commented that, when we offer God our obedience and worship, we do this for the sake of our own happiness rather than for the

I have never been able to tolerate those two. Joel Olsteen always makes me think of a slick used car salesman. He has never appeared sincere or trustworthy. Those are the true feelings I get when I see him. It´s obvious others love him.

Criticizing the Osteens´ theology is like shooting ducks in a barrel. It´s a safe thing to do.

If this guy wants to make an impact, he should criticize the leaders of his own branch of Christianity - and that can be any branch of Christianity - who are undoubtedly guilty of preaching one or more of the various heresies that keep cropping up in Christendom ad nauseam.

I don´t know their hearts, but their words are specious and lightweight. Perhaps if they talk enough about God, they will eventually encounter Him. "Be you either hot or cold, but if you are lukewarm, I will vomit you out of my mouth."

"...yes, Osteen’s comments are bad. Yes, the 37-second clip is a rambling mess born from almost incomprehensible Biblical ignorance. Yes, I hope these comments cause Osteen disciples to seriously reconsider their devotion to the most mega of America’s megachurches. But if these words succeed in toppling the Osteen empire, isn’t it a bit anticlimactic when the Osteens have said a thousand things that are even more theologically indefensible during their time at Lakewood Church?"

Anticlimactic, yes, but I´ll take it if it opens eyes to these false teaching religious frauds. It is beyond my comprehension how anyone who ever prayerfully opens a Bible to study, or even read, can be taken in by them.
It´s heartbreaking that they have grown wealthy misleading so many souls.

A perfect fulfillment of II Timothy 4:3-

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

Srsly, Federalist? You choose to put an article about this in your publication? Lame.

I have listened to the Osteens a number of times. No matter what anyone thinks of them or the depth of their theology, they absolutely DO preach Jesus, and according to Paul in Philippians, we should not bash them. They are accountable to God for their lives, and I am accountable to God for my life. I think all this criticism just looks silly.

What I object to is none of the mega churches, with exception of Billy Graham, have not stepped forward to condemn Muzlims killing Christians.

Pass the plate, buy a book, how about some tapes ?

Therein lies the problem #1, they have no theology unless it starts with "I am the $alpha and the $omega."

#9, churches should focus more on teaching the Truth of the Word of God than polluting the air with Satan´s lies. Knowledge of the Truth of the Word is what sets us free, not knowledge of the evils of religionism.

Eph 6:17
And take the Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

Thank you for posting this. The Osteens are charlatans, snake charmers - sly as snakes and charming the people with their flashy looks and smiles. We have a mega-church in the area. A friend gave me a tour of this church she was so excited about. The church was equipped with theater seats, a stage, professional lighting and sound. But there was not a cross to be seen. Finally, at the far end of this huge complex was a chapel room. There on the wall was a cross. My friend explained to me that the reason the cross was not so prevalent in the church was because it would make people feel sad to look at it, being reminded of Christ´s suffering. So -- this church´s cross philosophy is: Out of sight - out of mind. They are deaf to Paul´s words: "We preach Christ crucified!" (I Corinthians 1:23) Beware of such false prophets who refuse to preach Christ crucified.

First lady Michelle Obama said it was "natural" that kids are "grumbling" over new requirements for schools to fill vending machines and lunch lines with healthier food, but that it would not deter her from improving child nutrition. "Change is hard," the first lady said in an interview with Channel One. "And the thing about highly processed, sugary, salty food is that you get addicted to it. I don’t want to just settle because it’s hard." The first lady said she knew children "are grumbling because they have to make changes," and said her daughters roll their eyes when she

Michelle Obama spoke at the U.N. this week about women’s rights, and singled out the United States for how it treats women. Bill O’Reilly tonight found it grossly wrong for the First Lady to suggest that women are not treated fairly in the United States. O’Reilly cited statistics he argued show that women are doing very well, financially and educationally speaking, in the United States, and said the simple truth is “life is not fair.” And, he continued, “no government will be able to impose so-called fairness.” O’Reilly connected Obama’s comments to midterm politics and charged that Democrats are playing

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama enjoyed a romantic date night in a small tapas restaurant in New York on Wednesday. The couple dined at Estela, a tiny tapas-style restaurant on East Houston Street in Manhattan where they ate burrata with salsa verde and bread, two endive salads, and tomatoes and croquettes. And they even ditched the swanky restaurants at the Waldorf Astoria, where they had been staying in the city for a night at the eatery.
