It’s a War, Stupid!
Time Magazine, by Garry Kasparov

As Russian troops and armored columns advance in Eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian government begs for aid from the free world it hoped would receive it and protect it as one of its own. The leaders of the free world, meanwhile, are struggling to find the right terminology to free themselves from the moral responsibility to provide that protection. (Snip) This vocabulary of cowardice emanating from Berlin and Washington today is as disgraceful as the black-is-white propaganda produced by Putin’s regime, and even more dangerous. Moscow’s smokescreens are hardly necessary in the face of so much willful blindness. Putin’s lies are

Make no mistake, unlike the American public, the Russians know exactly who and what hussein is. They have his number.

I love the mention of "there is no military solution" in the article. It´s the equivalent of "war is not the answer". Ask those people liberated from Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, Buchenwald and others if war solves anything.

The last sentence of the article, quoted above, puts it all in perspective. And does barry and the rest even care? I don´t think so. Deleted by Taste Police.

The writer of the article, Garry Kasparov, is a virulent antagonist of Vladimir Putin. He should stick to what he does best, playing chess (I presume he is the same Garry Kasparov that was World Chess Champion for a long time).

Hitler was allowed to take Austria and then Czechoslovakia and then . . . . Guess what, WWII? Czechoslovakia could have defeated Hitler, but Chamberlain and France caved and the rest is history. Putin is using a well established paradigm for taking real estate.

Okay, let us think about the options for war. We send, what? aid? How much aid would it take for 20 million people to defeat 245 million people with nuclear weapons, ten thousand modern tanks, a fantastic air force, and 1.5 million men in uniform? What if we send in our air force and Navy? How long before the Russians start sinking our carriers, blasting our planes out of the air? Then what? Do we accept defeat, or do we resort to the ultimate showdown, putting the world on the brink of nuclear annihilation?

Truly? Over the Ukraine? For a people who are so screwed up they could not put together a responsible government since they were freed from the USSR nearly 25 years ago? For some quasi-fantastic concept to them of "freedom"? We don´t even want to fight for our own freedom! We will not go to a mass rally for our own freedom! Most us us would not even sign a petition to protect our own freedom!

So stop it!

Just cool the jets, boys and girls...there is no win in this situation. We gave up this fight years ago when we dumped all our eggs in the Iraqi and Afghanistan baskets! We quit this fight when we elected a non-qualified "Choomer" to the office of President of the United States of America. It will take two generations for us to gain back our strength- if we ever can (I doubt it seriously!). Then we can talk deterrence and "freedom" again.

The EU was giddy with delight that President Weakest Horse was elected as the de facto leader of the free world in 2008. Precisely because he was the Weakest Horse. Now the EU will face the consequences of their idiotic giddiness every bit as much as Ukraine will.

Now we are in "after the election" and Putin is moving west. When or where will Putin stop?

The U.S. military´s top officer said Wednesday that almost half of Iraq´s army is incapable of working against the Islamic State militant group, while the other half needs to be rebuilt with the help of U.S. advisers and military equipment. (Snip) Sectarianism has been a major problem for the Iraqi security forces for years and is in part a reflection of resentments that built up during the decades of rule under Saddam Hussein, who repressed the majority Shiite population, and the unleashing of reprisals against Sunnis after U.S. forces toppled him in April 2003. Sunni resistance led to the relatively brief rise of an extremist group called

The Minnesota Vikings issued a statement early Wednesday saying that running back Adrian Peterson must remain away from all team activities until his felony child abuse case is settled. The statement, from team owners Zygi and Mark Wilf, said that Peterson was being placed on the Exempt/Commissioner´s Permission list. The move was an about-face for the team, which reinstated Peterson to the active roster Monday after deactivating him following the All-Pro running back´s indictment Friday. "In conversations with the NFL over the last two days, the Vikings advised the League of the team´s decision to revisit the situation,"

Washington - The U.S. House of Representatives began debating legislation on Tuesday to authorize President Barack Obama´s plan to arm and train moderate Syrian rebels to fight Islamic State militants, and lawmakers said the measure would likely pass the full Congress by the end of this week. (Snip) House members were expected to vote to pass the amendment on Wednesday, congressional aides and lawmakers said. It would then be sent to the U.S. Senate for approval this week, before lawmakers leave Washington to spend the next six weeks campaigning for the Nov. 4 congressional elections.

Baghdad - Militia justice is simple, the fighters explained. “We break into an area and kill the ones who are threatening people,” said one 18-year-old fighter with Asaib Ahl al-Haq, a Shiite militia that operates as a vigilante force around Baghdad. That means Asaib Ahl al-Haq and the United States military are now fighting on the same side, though each insists they will not work together. Republicans have found a way to combat Democrats’ “war on women” strategy by calling for more open access to contraception, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said Tuesday. GOP Senate candidates have made inroads in North Carolina and Colorado by saying the answer to this year’s Supreme Court decision ruling that companies cannot be forced to pay for employees’ contraceptive care is to make birth control medications available over the counter without a prescription. Pro-choice activists and Democrats have vehemently rejected that, arguing that birth control pills will actually become more expensive if offered over the
