Don´t take rights for granted

Associated Press, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 8/30/2014 5:14:30 PM

President Barack Obama is asking Americans this Labor Day to think about the rights and benefits that people often take for granted. In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama says he´s optimistic about the growing economy. He says decisions made now will determine whether the recovery will pick up speed. Obama says workers and unions fought for things like Social Security, Medicare, workplace safety laws and the right to organize. He says those fights built a stronger middle class. Obama says to strengthen the modern middle class, the U.S. must raise its minimum wage. He says states and businesses

Comments:
Text book leftist doctrinaire blather.
He views government regulation, confiscation of wealth and it´s redistribution as a "right".

The only things that Unions ever raised is the dues, and the cost of doing business which is being for by the consumer and the labor force earning "higher" wages. What a train wreck this moron is.

He is so used to talking to "organizees that he thinks that´s what ever neighborhood is made up of.

With Barry wielding presidential authority, acting like a king, and daring Americans to resist his egregious incursions across the separations of power, who can afford to take rights for granted? Our own government doesn´t respect the rights they are sworn to defend.

Raising minimum wage = more union dues.
Nice try.

Just once I would like for this POS to say something kind to the elderly in this country.
They cannot get by on SS with inflation. Raising minimum wage will only made it worse.

MILWAUKEE — She can rouse a crowd as she did here this week, connect with women and drive turnout among African-American voters. Yet despite the nail-biting closeness of state contests to decide which party will control the Senate, Michelle Obama has been largely absent from the campaign trail so far. She has her reasons, Democrats say: Mrs. Obama hates to be away from her daughters. She loathes Washington’s toxic politics. She resents Republicans for their opposition to her husband’s agenda. But she also believes some Senate Democrats have been insufficiently supportive of her own efforts to end childhood obesity.

WASHINGTON — Julia Pierson, the director of the Secret Service, is resigning in the wake of several security breaches, according to administration officials. The resignation came less than a day after lawmakers from both parties assailed Ms. Pierson’s leadership and said they feared for the lives of the president and others in the protection of the agency. A 30-year veteran of the Secret Service, Ms. Pierson was supposed to have been the one to repair the agency’s reputation after scandals that raised questions about a culture that gave rise to incidents involving drinking and prostitution during overseas trips.

Nearly 35,000 walruses were discovered this month on a northwest Alaskan shore as result of being unable to find sea ice to rest upon, a problem aggravated by climate change, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said. The unusually massive walrus gatherings were first spotted on Sept. 13 when NOAA conducted its annual arctic marine mammal aerial survey, a spokeswoman told the Associated Press. The marine mammals use sea ice as diving platforms to hunt for food in shallow areas, or as resting points to avoid long, exhausting swims. While it is normal for sea ice to recede into

A presidential defeat isn’t an easy thing to bounce back from. And Mitt Romney did it twice. So it was understandable that after he lost the presidential race in 2012, he was adamant about closing the door to the possibility of a third campaign. But recently, speculation is whirling that Romney may not be so adamant anymore. When asked if he was running in a New York Times interview published earlier this week, Romney said : “I have nothing to add to the story. We’ve got a lot of people looking at the race,” he said. “We’ll see what happens.” That response, which

Speaking at a Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors event last night, Hillary Clinton decided to talk about Alexis de Tocqueville. The problem? She got it wrong -- by about a hundred years. "There´s a wonderful phrase that was first used by Alexis de Tocqueville, who came to the United States in the very early 1930s and traveled around our country," said Hillary Clinton, a probable 2016 presidential candidate. "And he was so amazed at how Americans organized themselves -- you know, coming from aristocratic Europe, which was totally top-down and hierarchical -- he couldn´t believe how many of us were joiners.
