It was a brutal murder case of an elderly Utah woman that had sat cold for 23 years. But now police say they the mysterious death of 78-year-old Lucille Johnson in 1991 - who was found bludgeoned and strangled in her Salt Lake City home - has been solved, all because of some pieces of Lego. The toy building blocks were found in the entry way of the house in Holladay and stored away as part of an evidence file (Snip)That file was reopened last year, with DNA testing discovering residue that linked them to the alleged killer - John

Here´s a weirdly interesting case for the CSI types among us....

This monster apparently took his child along when he murdered this poor woman.

I lived in Phoenix when he committed the murder that landed him on death row in AZ. He and his wife called a church food pantry, and asked for a food box delivery. A woman from the church came and this guy killed her, in front of the kids. He and his wife left this woman´s body in the living room and the kids saw the dead body. Who knows if they saw the murder take place. It´s bad enough to kill someone, but how diabolical to involve a kid on two murders.

Maybe the son is taking after his old man. Sounds like the police had the son´s fingerprints in the system. They had to compare the fingerprints on the Legos to something. Unfortunately, the article doesn´t explain this.

STOCKHOLM-A Swedish woman has become the world´s first to give birth after having a womb transplant, opening up the possibility for thousands of infertile women to have babies, the doctor in charge of the research project said on Saturday. The unnamed Swede in her mid-30s delivered a healthy baby boy by caesarean section in early September, around two years after receiving a uterus donated by an unrelated, 61-year-old. She was one of seven women who successfully underwent a womb transplant from a live donor – in most cases the recipient’s mother - and subsequently had in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment.

North Korean officials pay rare

KYOTO, Japan — North and South Korea have agreed to hold another round of high-level talks after a top-level Northern delegation, including the men thought to be second and third in command behind Kim Jong Un, paid a surprise visit to the South on Saturday. The unusual and unannounced trip — the first such high-level visit in more than five years — comes at a time of intense speculation about North Korea’s leadership, given that Kim, the third-generation leader of the communist state, has not been seen in public for a month. It also comes amid a steady stream of disparaging comments

Officials at the Dallas hospital treating the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the U.S. have conceded that doctors handling the case knew when the patient was initially turned away that he had traveled to Texas from Africa. They said the miscommunication was due to a flaw in the electronic medical record system. But a new statement suggests that doctors were indeed made aware of Duncan´s travel history. Earlier this week, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital officials said that emergency room doctors who first treated the man, Thomas Eric Duncan, were not aware that had recently arrived from Africa, even though a nurse who questioned

I don’t think any single story has the potential to reveal so much about what is wrong, fundamentally wrong, with political correctness and law enforcement. The scope of avoidance is so unbelievable it’s taking hours of assembly and reconfiguration just to comprehend. And let me be absolutely clear the timeline where the broadcasted BOLO’s were needed is 2009 to 2014. Between 2002 and 2009 there was MORE than enough connective information and factual forensic evidence to know there was a serial rapist/abductor around VA college campuses. It’s the “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” A New York appeals court next week will consider whether chimps should have the same rights as human beings. The extraordinary proceeding is the result of a lengthy battle by animal-rights activists who argue that animals with human qualities — including chimps — are entitled to human protections, including freedom from captivity. Steven Wise, part of the Nonhuman Rights Project, which is leading the effort, will have to convince a panel of Albany appellate judges that a chimp name Tommy is a “legal person” to get him moved from a cage

It is the stuff that nightmares are made of, and day by day it is getting worse. The Ebola epidemic, says Dr Margaret Chan, director-general of the World Health Organisation (WHO), is now “the greatest peacetime challenge” since the Second World War. ATLANTA — Texas, America’s second-most populous state behind California, saw 13 of its last abortion clinics turn away women on Friday, after a federal appeals court upheld a law that practically guarantees that only a handful of clinics will remain open in the state. The strictest-of-its-kind Texas law requires abortion providers to build hospital-grade facilities and obtain sometimes impossible-to-get hospital admitting privileges. After signed into law last year by Gov. Rick Perry (R), the law forced most of the 41 clinics operating to close. Thursday’s ruling wiped out a brief victory this summer for abortion rights proponents,
