Mystery of the missing tanker:

A tanker loaded with $100 million of crude oil that has been at the center of a dispute over Iraq´s oil billions vanished off the coast of Texas on Thursday. The Kurdish tanker disappeared from Coast Guard radar screens following a month of legal wrangling over whether it can offload its cargo in the U.S. As the disintegration of Iraq amid mounting violence continues, the semi-autonomous regime in Kurdistan – in the north of Iraq – is trying to cash in on Iraq´s oil reserves and export its own crude. Iraqi Kurdistan has exported at least eight million barrels of oil

If this oil slick starts killing seagulls and pelicans, ISIS better watch their back sides. Obama, the EPA and the greenies will start carpet bombing the culprits.

Do ships use transponders (like aircraft) in order to be seen on radar at a distance? If so, they may have turned theirs off for a while.

Yasser Tabbaa, a specialist on Islamic art and architecture, remembers taking many trips to a 13th-century shrine dedicated to the Imam Awn al-Din, in Mosul in northern Iraq. The building was one of the few to survive Mongol invasion, never mind the destructive effects of weather and time. And this shrine had a stunning vaulted ceiling, like a honeycomb. “It is a beautiful pyramidal tower at the edge of the Tigris,” said Mr. Tabbaa, who taught at New York University Abu Dhabi and lives in Ann Arbor, Mich. His heart fell this summer, however, when he saw an online video

PRINCETON, IND. — President Obama on Friday credited his administration´s policies with helping to boost the economy and said the recovery is "real ... steady and happening." Speaking at a steel plant outside Evansville, Ind., on "Manufacturing Day," Obama touted the unemployment rate, which on Friday fell to 5.9 percent in September, the lowest number in six years. The report said the economy added 248,000 jobs in September. Obama said the country is "on pace" for the strongest job growth since the 1990s and experiencing the longest period of uninterrupted growth in U.S. history. Still, he acknowledged that the

DAKAR- Journalists will need official permission to cover many aspects of the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, under new rules that the government said aimed at protecting patient privacy. The move was announced on Thursday, the day an American cameraman working for NBC News in Liberia became the first foreign journalist to test positive for Ebola. There was no indication that the new rules were related to that case. Growing international media interest in the outbreak that has killed nearly 2,000 people and infected 3,696 in Liberia has highlighted the challenges to the West African country´s healthcare system. The clip, which is in English with Arabic subtitles, then shows Jihadi John stepping forward to cut Mr Henning´s throat before it cuts to black, then shows his body lying on the desert floor. Some students are skeptical, though others are ´freaking out´. Typically at the start of October, freshman students like Quencey Hickerson, 18, would be preparing for their first Howard University homecoming. But on Friday, Hickerson and her fellow students were preoccupied with news of a possible case of Ebola virus being treated at the Howard University Hospital, which lies on the southern end of the Washington, D.C. school’s campus. Hickerson, who heard the news via social media, told TIME she was “shocked” by the news. “I didn’t expect [the virus] to spread so quickly,” Hickerson said.

President Obama is not popular at this point in his presidency, even in a blue state like Minnesota. Our own Senator Al Franken repeatedly bristled as GOP candidate Mike McFadden cited Franken’s 97 percent voting record in support of Obama at their debate in Duluth earlier this week. Franken mocked the statistic but didn’t offer a correction. That’s because the statistic is correct and because any purported correction would be even more damning if it came from Franken. The 97 percent figure is a good one to use. It doesn’t come from a partisan source; it comes from Congressional Quarterly.

My last article for American Thinker was too long. And too short. Too long because the gurus tell us articles should be about 600 words. My story about the president talking to the black caucus about white people inflicting constant racial injustice on black people came in at 1500 words. I was just getting warmed up. The quintessential question of Watergate was “what did the President know and when did he know it?” Obamagate, the vast scandal that encompasses an entire presidency, offers a preemptive answer. Obama didn’t know anything and he never knew it. At least not until, like smuggling weapons to druglords, bugging journalists, IRSing his political enemies and killing vets, his right hand found out about what his left hand was doing from the morning paper. After skipping 58% of his daily intelligence briefings in Term 1 and 59% of them in Term 2, he went on 60 Minutes and blamed intelligence agencies for being

President Obama was at Northwestern University on Thursday to deliver an economic speech that, he and his team hoped, would lay out the case for why the public is better off today than they were six years ago -- even if they didn´t feel it in their everday lives. Instead, Obama just gave every Republican ad-maker in the country more fodder for negative ads linking Democratic candidates to him. Here are the four sentences that will draw all of the attention (they come more than two thirds of the way through the speech): "I am not on the ballot this

A recent fight between Rosie O´Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg has producers at The View looking to add a cool-down room for the ladies. A presidential defeat isn’t an easy thing to bounce back from. And Mitt Romney did it twice. So it was understandable that after he lost the presidential race in 2012, he was adamant about closing the door to the possibility of a third campaign. But recently, speculation is whirling that Romney may not be so adamant anymore. When asked if he was running in a New York Times interview published earlier this week, Romney said : “I have nothing to add to the story. We’ve got a lot of people looking at the race,” he said. “We’ll see what happens.” That response, which

Speaking at a Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors event last night, Hillary Clinton decided to talk about Alexis de Tocqueville. The problem? She got it wrong -- by about a hundred years. "There´s a wonderful phrase that was first used by Alexis de Tocqueville, who came to the United States in the very early 1930s and traveled around our country," said Hillary Clinton, a probable 2016 presidential candidate. "And he was so amazed at how Americans organized themselves -- you know, coming from aristocratic Europe, which was totally top-down and hierarchical -- he couldn´t believe how many of us were joiners.
