Obama´s ´no strategy´ gaffe
may become the ´read my lips´
signature of a failed presidency

American Thinker, by Thomas Lifson

Let’s cut President Obama some slack. Golf is a challenging game, and he has been focused like a laser (as Bill Clinton used to say) on improving his game on Martha’s Vineyard, and there’s only so much a guy can do. Coming up with a strategy for dealing with guys who are the junior varsity can wait – and after all there are three fundraisers and a wedding beckoning this holiday weekend, so what’s the hurry? Unfortunately for any residual desire of President Obama’s desire to be seen as a serous leader, the above sarcastic apologia fits his pattern of behavior

To show up for a few minutes, between golf games, vacations and fundraisers, tanned and in an ice cream suit, to say he had no strategy was perhaps the nadir of what passes for his presidency.

No. It fails to meet the "Read my lips" gaff on one super important level; Bush-1 was in his first term and the voters could express their angst at the voting booth and fire him. Øbama´s "gaff" (if it was a gaff- I think it was brag), comes too late for the voters to do anything about him.

Most of us know that, if you are a really bad golfer, all the practice in the world will do little to improve your game. Making the same bad strokes over and over does not improve them.

There´s a metaphor in there somewhere.

Rubbish. The old press distorted the "read my lips" comment and relentlessly smeared GHW Bush with it. The corrupt media has stamped the "no strategy" story with an August 29 expiration date.

Stopping in at the WH Pressroom, on his way to an ice-cream social (and so dressed) Obama, speaking freely, sans teleprompter, accidentally told the truth; he has no strategy and no clue.

Unfortunately, as obvious as this is to many of us, this is the man that Democrat voters have insisted (twice) they want to run the country, and even when he´s gone we´ll still have them.

Since the appearance of ISIS, the usual suspects on the left -- those in politics and media in particular -- have bent over backwards to argue that it has nothing to do Obama, that his silly foreign policy, undergrad strategic considerations, and infinitely collapsible notion of American responsibilities unfolded in a vacuum and could not possibly have had any effect on anything. No, the fault, of course, is that of George W. Bush and his neocon camarilla. If it weren’t for Bush, a strong, wise, and humane Saddam Hussein would be present to destroy this Jihadi upsurge, exactly the way

On the opening weekend of the 2014 NFL season, 1696 players suited up for game one. Of these, 1694 are in their twenties and thirties. Doesn’t anyone in the White House bother to think about the metaphors they use? In the wake of the awful, disgusting, hideous, XXX rated (for violence) video of David Haines being beheaded, carving his head off his shoulders, Barack Obama releases a statement with the most inappropriate metaphor possible: The United States stands shoulder to shoulder tonight with our close friend and ally in grief and resolve. Are they trying to be funny? Is there some demon inside the Obamas that is making them do things like commemorate 911 this year by sending Michelle to be photographed with a group named KaBOOM? Nations are much like living organisms. One fundamental function of life is to tell the difference between friends and foes. When a nation fails to do that it will soon die. For more than two centuries the United States has known how to tell friend from foe, because we’ve had a robust sense of identity -- we understood how “a nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal” would be tested over and over again, by enemies foreign and domestic, to see “whether any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure.” The West

The Ivanpah solar generating plant is located in California about 50 miles from Las Vegas near the California-Nevada border. 173,000 mirrors are used to concentrate the sun on 3 boiler-towers where water is turned into steam to drive turbines and generate electricity. The mirrors track the sun and concentrate sunlight so that the intensity of light falling on the boiler-towers is about 500 times stronger than sunlight -- a death ray. The Democratic Party and the mainstream media joined to run interference for Barack Obama when he became a national figure. Obama was painted as a charismatic, competent, new kind of politician. The passage of time destroyed this image. Now, the public increasingly sees Obama as incompetent, untrustworthy and unmotivated. Supporters are now in an awkward position. Do they continue to support what is increasingly seen as an inept president or do they turn against him? Continuing the subterfuge is dangerous. Lending credibility to an incredible man is a certain way to destroy one’s own validity. Obama, once considered a savior and asset

(Editor´s note: Three words -- Joseph. Robinette. Biden.) Based on interviews with DNC staffers -- both former and current -- the piece described Wasserman Schultz as something of a modern-day Tracy Flick: over-eager, disloyal and not shy about promoting her ambitions.
