Sam Kass, the Obamas’ Foodmaster General
New York Times, by Jennifer Steinhauer

Original Article

Washington--Back in 2005, when President Obama was a mere freshman senator, his wife, Michelle, found herself overwhelmed with the stress of being a full-time working mother, largely alone in her Chicago home, with two daughters who got sick a little too often.(snip)In a demonstration of Mr. Kass’s closeness to the Obamas, Mr. Obama spent five hours in Mr. Kass’s Logan Circle apartment last week — in the middle of crises in Iraq, Ukraine and Ferguson, Mo. — ostensibly celebrating the chef’s last week as a bachelor. This weekend, the first family will attend Mr. Kass’s wedding, to Alex Wagner of

Comments:
I find the news that Zippy goofed off at a bachelor party for 5 hours in the midst of a world crisis just a wee bit perplexing.

Alex definitely fits right in with this arrogant bunch.

Obama knows he´s way over his head dealing with real problems,so any excuse he can come up with to dodge the seriousness of the office,he´s going to take it.He never meets meets with his cabinet people because he doesn´t know what to say, that would take leadership. Whatever does get done is through czar type people. The other people are on the payroll for union dues collections.

Ms. Steinhauer presents an apalling profile of elitism and pure fiction. Is this what the NY Times considers part of all the news that´s fit to print?

If the Obama´s were as poor as they say back in Chicago, how did they afford a personal chef? Why do these Democrats feel they must present themselves as they want to be rather than as how they really are?

I read the entire article, what a hoot! Liberalism is a mental disorder that only the elite can afford to suffer.

The Obie lovers refer to mr. kass´ (and the Mooch´s) food campaign as a "social movement". A foodie with a social conscience, something only the mentally disordered could create.

Furthermore, this quote takes the cake, referring to mr. kass´s Chicago University Lab school experience, ´The school was ´sort of a utopian fantasyland´.

These Chicago communists are a laugh riot.

I don´t understand why a "smart" woman can´t work and raise two children at the same time without hiring a chef. I raised three children, taught school, and cooked dinner for my family every night. My husband was building a business and was working 7 days a week often making house calls at night. He was a veterinarian. We made it without a nanny or housekeeper. Michelle must be as lazy as her husband.

And what does the other WH chef do? We are paying her, too.

In between, Mr. Kass manages a frantic schedule of travel, cooking and commuting, although he can be found grilling prime beef for the Obamas just outside the North Portico on many a Friday, steak night at the White House.

Moochie gotta have her Wagyu beef!

This piece of puffery is just so much - what do you call it? Barbara Streisand?

And they picked a photo of Mooch at her puffiest to match the piece.

Re #2, those of us who read about Kass back in the day know that Kass had some sort of a healthy food restaurant of undetermined size in Chicago. He also "catered" food for busy households. Services like this are not uncommon in urban areas. Menus are selected and food prepared and boxed up for fridge and freezer for (usually) five days, assuming dining out on weekends.

He was not the Obamas´ "personal chef" and that stuff about watching him chop chop is probably another O´lie. He most likely had his kitchen people do that chop chop while preparing food to take to the Obamas.

The Obamas have a schtruggle between trying to portray themselves as poor like us (see Hillary, too) and very tony (personal chef). You can´t have it both ways.

Washington--In a get-to-know-you visit fraught with awkward undertones, President Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India sought to repair a strained relationship between their nations on Tuesday, emerging with expressions of good will but little in the way of concrete deals. (Snip)Mr. Modi sat in front of an empty plate and had warm water for dinner while Mr. Obama and the two leaders’ entourages ate avocados and goat cheese, crisped halibut and basmati rice, a pumpkin crème brûlée and a California chardonnay. The Obama administration was grilled on Monday for inviting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a state dinner while he is fasting as part of a Hindu religious observance, a move that has been criticized by some as insensitive. Obama will host Modi Monday evening at the White House “for a private dinner” that will also be attended by Vice President Joe Biden, the White House announced Monday morning. The event is closed to the press. However, the administration appears to have forgotten that Modi is in the middle of carrying out a religious fast in observance of the Hindu

Fierce fighting has been reported on the outskirts of Baghdad where ISIS militants are attempting to seize control of the Iraqi capital - despite ongoing Western airstrikes against the terror group. The fighting is taking place just one mile to the west of the city, with government forces desperately trying to hold off the militants, who allegedly killed up to 1,000 soldiers during clashes yesterday. ISIS have held a number of towns and villages close to the Iraqi capital since earlier in the year, when government troops melted away following a lightning advance in the west of the country -

As the midterm campaigns heat up, Democratic candidates are turning to the White House for help and an injection of star power. But it is the first lady, not President Barack Obama, ?who in some places is emerging as the more sought-after campaigner. Some Democrats contend that Mr. Obama´s sagging popularity limits where he would be helpful this election cycle. Bringing higher approval ratings and a less-partisan pitch, Michelle Obama already has hit the trail, appearing earlier this month in Georgia with Senate candidate Michelle Nunn. Next month, the first lady´s campaign travel will include a visit to Iowa, where

So it was understandable that after he lost the presidential race in 2012, he was adamant about closing the door to the possibility of a third campaign.
