READING, Pa.- On the second day of class at Reading Senior High School, teacher Eric Knorr directs his students´ attention to the banners hanging on the wall. Syracuse. Temple. Brown. Penn State. All of them brought back by former students who bucked the odds and went to college. "You need to make sure you have a plan," Knorr exhorts the class. "Because your plan will lead to a banner, OK? It will lead to an opportunity to go to college." Long seen as a way out of poverty, higher education eludes most students at Reading High. The public schools here

Wait a minute.

If "most of the parents" don´t speak any English, you can be pretty sure that translates into the parents are illegal aliens.

Isn´t it nice to know that YOUR kids may be passed up for scholarships taken by kids that should never have been here in the first place?

I will enjoy watching these liberal academic institutions fail one by one as they provide more loans to illegal aliens´ kids and have them default on them.

Lie-berals will not stop until they totally destroy this once-great nation.

One of their main goals is to assure that Anglo people (especially the boys) from middle-class and above families have no opportunities to have any success in life.

They will destroy this nation and turn it into a 3rd world cesspool to accomplish their sick social experiment.

#1, not only passed up for scholarships, but admission. There are only so many openings in the freshman class.

Colleges have been giving much smaller scholarships to many more middle class students, on the premise that their families can afford the remaining tuition, or that the students will take large loans for the difference. The students are so desperate to get into their "dream" school, they do it.

As a 1948 graduate of Reading High who long ago moved elsewhere, I am shocked by this article. I received a really excellent education there, supplemented by the very good Carnegie-endowed public library. In our class a lot of my friends not only went to college, they earned doctorates or professional degrees. At least three had prominent scientific careers. What happened? At mid=century, Reading was prosperous and not majority Hispanic.

House Republicans are using National Coffee Day to keep up the buzz about President Obama’s “latte salute.” Monday marks the unofficial caffeine-filled holiday. The House Republican Conference tweeted to its more than 150,000 followers: (Tweet) Obama was on the receiving end of plenty of criticism for saluting Marines with a coffee cup in his hand last week as he exited Marine One. Republicans appear to have the coffee celebration covered, with several GOP lawmakers noting on Twitter their love of a good ole cup o’ Joe. Afghanistan´s new government plans to sign a strategic agreement Tuesday with the United States that would allow for approximately 10,000 U.S. troops to remain in the country after the U.S.-led NATO coalition’s mandate expires in December. U.S. officials say the extended troop presence is needed to continue training Afghanistan’s 350,000 soldiers and police, and to conduct counter-terrorism operations. The pact – which outgoing Afghan President Hamid Karzai refused to sign in his final months in office, fueling tensions with Washington – is expected to be signed by U.S. Ambassador James Cunningham and a senior member of the Afghan government. Speaking to ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on “This Week” over the weekend Boehner spoke about the immigration reform effort in the House and reiterated his commitment to achieving reform. In an unaired portion of the interview provided by Boehner´s office, however, Boehner made one of his most aggressive statements about how Obama’s expected executive actions on immigration would affect the reform effort in Congress —

Even as President Obama clearly attempted during a Sunday 60 Minutes interview to blame others for his failure to recognize ISIS as a growing threat in the Middle East, Monday´s NBC Today spun the buck-passing as a "very candid" admission by the commander-in-chief. Co-host Matt Lauer opened the morning show by proclaiming: "Underestimated. The President admits his administration and U.S. intelligence officials misjudged the threat of ISIS." While that headline suggested to viewers that Obama was taking responsibility for the failure, a soundbite ran of the President distancing himself from blame: "I think they underestimated what had been taking place

BEIRUT — U.S.-led coalition warplanes bombed Islamic State group positions overnight across four provinces in northern and eastern Syria, hitting a grain silo as well as the country’s largest gas plant, activists said Monday. Washington and its Arab allies opened their air assault against the extremist group last week, going after its military facilities, training camps, heavy weapons and oil installations. The campaign expands upon the airstrikes the United States has been conducting against the militants in Iraq since early August. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said coalition forces hit Islamic State group facilities overnight in Aleppo, Raqqa,

Maine’s incumbent conservative GOP governor is locked in a dead heat for his position, holding fast after many in the political class thought it would be a cakewalk to make him a one-term proposition. For President Obama, the color of a man’s skin is far more important than the content of his character. On the night when a police officer was shot in a Missouri town torn by racial strife, the president donned a shiny tuxedo to attend a ritzy black awards dinner, where he said police nationwide are to blame for community mistrust, even claiming that “most Americans” think the country is racist. Remember, when Ferguson exploded in racial rage in August, Mr. Obama chose not to curtail his 15-day vacation, spending day after day on the golf course in the white-skinned, white-wined, millionaire playground
