Rick Perry has assembled
an all-star legal team

Washington Post, by Sean Sullivan

In case you haven´t heard, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) is facing felony charges alleging he abused his powers and tried to coerce an elected official to resign. Perry insists he isn´t guilty. And he´s hired an all-star legal team to make that case for him in court. Here´s a quick look at the lineup: Steve Schmidt: Schmidt is the latest addition to Perry´s team. A veteran Republican strategist best known for his role as a senior adviser on Sen. John McCain´s 2008 presidential campaign, he was portrayed by Woody Harrelson in the HBO film "Game Change." Ben Ginsberg: Ginsberg is a longtime

If he had only Ben Ginsberg, Ben would have been able to handle it quickly,m efficiently and impressively. The others are just helpers. ;)

Sometimes you really do hire people for a certain expertise. It´s a sign of a smart executive. This is a legal fight, not a political fight. Schmidt is there for messaging and PR, Fabiani is a crisis management expert. When Fabiani was added to the team he made this statement. “I’m proud to join Gov. Perry’s outstanding team which has been assembled to fight back against this attack on the rule of law,” Mark Fabiani said.

You guys do realize you only like Schmidt because you hate Sarah Palin as much as he does, right? Because he was a terrible adviser to McCain and now that I know he was also an adviser to Bush in 2004, I feel certain he´s just a terrible adviser all the way around.

He´s been spending the last five years in the warm, cozy embrace of the Democrats and their media wing, enjoying every minute of it. If Perry doesn´t think he´s going to get slammed in "behind the campaign" trash talk by Schmidt after this is all over he is truly naive.

But it´s a hoot to see all those who helped Romney unfairly eviscerate Perry in 2012 jump to his defense on the basis of Palin Derangement Syndrome.

The Obama administration has “widened the loopholes” that Islamic State and other extremist fighters could use to enter the United States, a leading union of immigration officials says. In a statement obtained by National Review Online, the U.S. National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council, a union representing 12,000 federal immigration agents, sounded the alarm that not only could jihadists “slip across our porous southern border,” but that fighters could also “exploit our loose and lax visa policies to gain entry to the United States.” USCIS cites two main issues: a dearth of resources for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for enforcement and

A man who’s a better speechwriter than his speechwriters, a better political director than his political directors, and who knows more about policy than his policy advisors must surely also be a better general than his generals, no? The U.S. military campaign against Islamist militants in Syria is being designed to allow President Barack Obama to exert a high degree of personal control, going so far as to require that the military obtain presidential signoff for strikes in Syrian territory, officials said. The requirements for strikes in Syria against the extremist group Islamic State will be far more stringent than those targeting

The president´s strategy of launching air strikes against ISIS and arming its opponents will not achieve the goal of "degrading and destroying" the group, according to 63 percent of National Journal´s Security Insiders. Some Insiders who said the campaign would meet its goals were confident in the ability of U.S. air power to tamp down ISIS. "Air strikes have already had a great effect—the situation on the ground in Iraq has stabilized." "There is much less than meets the eye with ISIS when it comes to military capability," one insider said. Other Insiders qualified their affirmative answers, predicting that the U.S. campaign would

During the 2014 primary elections, a ragtag group of unknowns took on the Goliaths and won. And no, I’m not talking about the Tea Party versus Establishment fight in the Republican Party. Those following election night coverage on the Internet this primary season may have noticed that a newcomer — the Ace of Spades Headquarters Decision Desk (that’s @AOSHQDD on Twitter) — often tallied the votes faster and called the results sooner than the Associated Press. The Decision Desk, run by blogger Brandon Finnigan as an extension of the conservative Ace of Spades blog, began as an idea a decade ago.

Edinburgh - Scotland began voting Thursday on whether to become independent, in a referendum that could break up the centuries-old United Kingdom and create Europe´s newest country since the collapse of Yugoslavia. Some 97 percent of eligible Scots -- 4.3 million people -- have registered to vote, underscoring the passions that the historic decision has kindled across the country. After months when it looked like the independence camp could not win, a surge in support in the final two weeks has left pollsters warning the outcome too close to call. Congressman Jason Chaffetz broke this shocking news Wednesday that four known terrorists were apprehended at the US border in Texas on September 10 – the day before the 13th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks. Chaffetz questioned Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson on whether he is “aware of any apprehensions of suspected or known terrorists.” Johnson dodged the question. Tonight, Rep. Chaffetz told Megyn Kelly there were four terrorists arrested crossing the US border in Texas on September 10. “There were actually four individuals trying to cross through the Texas border, who were apprehended at two different stations, that do have ties to known terrorist

Two years after initiating their first ride, however, the organization has disbanded, tens of thousands of dollars are unaccounted for and some are accusing the man behind the project of having broken the law. Casey Miller, along with five other participants, set out on a long-distance bike ride from Seattle, Wash. to Washington, D.C. SANTA ROSA BEACH, Florida – Mike Huckabee bought a beachfront lot here in 2009, a year after his failed bid for the Republican presidential nomination. A longtime friend and political ally of the former Arkansas governor bought the lot next door. They planned to build $3 million vacation villas side-by-side, each with a pool and sweeping views of Walton County’s renowned sugary sand beaches and the azure waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The only hitch was that their lots lay on a severely eroding beach. Under state regulations, they couldn’t build on the seaward side of the sand dune nearest

Who lost Iraq? In so many words, that is now the increasingly potent counter to years of liberal charges that America’s problems in the world can be traced to the Bush-Cheney foreign policy — specifically the invasion of 2003. The question has now taken root, with “Iraq” serving as shorthand for everything from Iraq itself to ISIS, the Syrian mess, Benghazi, and more. Graphically illustrated by the beheadings of two American journalists, a British aid worker, ISIS armies causing chaos in the once-stabilized region.
