Marco Rubio´s course
correction on immigration

Washington Examiner, by Byron York

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 8/27/2014 12:11:25 PM

Marco Rubio´s office got in touch this week to say the Florida senator and possible 2016 GOP presidential hopeful wanted to discuss immigration. The specific subject was President Obama´s expected move to unilaterally legalize as many as half of the 11 million immigrants currently in the United States illegally. But Rubio, speaking by phone during a visit to Atlanta, had much more to say about the broader issue of immigration reform. What he outlined amounted to an entirely new approach to the issue that has contributed to his rise, then fall, and perhaps rise again, in the Republican Party. Rubio

Comments:
Rubio keeps twisting himself into knots trying to show his "new" stance on immigration. His pushing of security first, blah, blah, blah. What stuns me is what is never, ever mentioned is enforcing laws ALREADY on the books that would solve many of these problems. It´s a complete waste of time to even consider immigration as long as the lawless, corrupt, malevolent Obama is in the White House.

@#1: I disagree that Rubio knows where he ´misstepped´. A U.S. senator is a very high position and therefore, if Rubio was as smart as we were lead to believe, he should have thought out his immigration position carefully before going rogue on everyone. As far as I´m concerned, Rubio is no better than Paul Ryan who said one thing before the 2012 election and went in the other direction afterwards. Either these people are idiots or scoundrels - or both.

I still like the guy. He made a mistake. He admits he made a mistake. His outline on immigration is a good start. I look for a Rubio European tour by next summer. He´s going to become a very popular man with world leaders. He´s already one of the most respected American political figures in Israel.

Anybody that needs a course correction is not trustworthy.

All that means is he wants to ingratiate himself with the most voters possible while holding beliefs that are not what those voters would hold.

We already have a President that is the master of that rouse.

A man´s first intent tells us a lot. Course correction would not be needed if he had said enforce the laws on the books, add more agents and build the border fence. Deport all illegals when caught with no anchor babies plus no services once you are here.
I dislike terms like course correction and walk it back (lies), no Rubio just by his participation with gang of eight erased him from my thoughts or choice.

I do not trust Rubio. The mistake was just too big. How could anybody make a mistake as to what amnesty mean to the country´s future? With polls showing that the voters oppose amnesty and illegal aliens, he tried to adjust just to collect.

It does not make any difference how many borderline fences are built, how many new border patrol agents are hied and trained, or what sort of modernized mandatory e-verify system is put in place, as long as Obama is President and maintains executive policies that allow just about all illegal alien comers who unlawfully cross the borderline to stay, with his authorization to work in the USA, to await some future amnesty.

Those policies are now becoming precedent without any basis in the law and you can bet that if another liberal Democrat President is elected in 2016 that those non-enforcement policies will remain in place. There are too many potential poor and uneducated foreign born Democrat voters out there in the growing illegal alien population group for that not to happen. Besides have you ever actually seen the Republicans roll back any such liberal Democrat social policies?

While more famous for his anti-war activities as a founder of the Weather Underground in the 1960s and ‘70s, he is now a committed educator. Retired from his education professorship at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Ayers continues to give lectures to teachers in training, speak at education conferences and agitate against America’s two-tiered educational system – one for rich, one for poor – on behalf of low-income parents, students and instructors. In early June 1964, a group of Republican governors sought to wrestle control of their party from Barry Goldwater, the Arizona conservative who was about to lead the GOP to one of the most crushing defeats in its history. The governors saw a disaster in the making, and sought a moderate candidate who could capture the imaginations of grassroots Republicans—but also beat President Lyndon Johnson in the general election. Led by Ohio’s James Rhodes—the Republican Governors Association was meeting in Cleveland, and Rhodes was a legendary vote counter—the group included Pennsylvania’s William Scranton and later New York’s Nelson Rockefeller.
