There´s No Such Thing as ´Black America´
Daily Beast, by Ron Christie

Original Article

Posted By:garnet, 8/27/2014 8:59:48 AM

In light of the tragic shooting of Michael Brown, I’ve been troubled by the notion that a monolithic entity called “Black America” or “the black community” still exists in the 21st century—if it ever existed at all. Moreover, I think that it is simply dangerous for the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to be allowed to act as if they speak for all black Americans. They don’t, but the media and our first black president perpetuate this insidious myth. America has obviously made tremendous progress since the days of Jim Crow, Bull Connor, and voter intimidation at the polls.

Sharpton and Jackson are continuing a form of slavery ... slavery of the mind. They speak and the majority of their subjects obey.

Too late the race baiters have poisoned the minds of a complete generation and the thugs now rule the streets of Black America. Build more prisons.

The BS of Sharpton and his pea brained ilk has in fact caused me and others who might be sympathetic to TURN OFF. Not interested in the divisive rhetoric. I suspect other people otherwise sympathetic have followed suit as well. In the long run that hurts the cause of harmony in USA.

Further to the above. If you express disagreement with Sharpy et al you are called an Uncle Tom. If you express disagreement with IS** and all you are called an apostate.

That said, these guys DO get attention so the less "involved" keep quiet.

Climate Change Has Jumped

Lay aside for now all of the arguments that can be made about the weaknesses of catastrophic climate change predictions. In fact, for purposes of discussion, let’s assume that the worst-case scenario is likely to come true. The paradox of climate change is exactly this: the more serious the problem, the more implausible are the remedies of the environmental community. That’s what ought to make the climate campaigners realize that last weekend’s mega-march in New York City represents the dead-end for their cause. Truly we can invoke that overused cliché that climate change has “jumped the shark.” Here’s why: From the

A new poll finds that three-fifths of likely voters support the repeal of Obamacare. A large plurality — 44 percent — wants to see Obamacare repealed and replaced with a conservative alternative. A much smaller group —16 percent — wants to see it repealed but not replaced. Less than one in three respondents — 32 percent — would like to keep Obamacare, whether in its current form or in amended form. So, with a conservative alternative in play, 60 percent of Americans support repeal, while only 32 percent oppose it.McLaughlin & Associates asked 1,000 likely voters

Two-time presidential loser Mitt Romney´s sprawling network of consultants and aides is sitting tight, waiting for the former Massachusetts governor to decide whether he wants to run for president a third time. Romney, who until recently had long denied any true interest in another bid, is reportedly talking the idea over with his family. Ann Romney isn´t exactly denying it. Former running mate Paul Ryan, thought to be a possible presidential contender himself, is almost encouraging it. And Romney himself declined to close the door on the possibility in an interview with Romneyphile Hugh Hewitt. As I write this, an email signed

Random thoughts on the passing scene: What a non-judgmental society amounts to is that common decency is optional — which means that decency is likely to become less common. The biggest issue in this fall’s election is whether the Obama administration will end when Barack Obama leaves the White House or whether it will continue on, by appointing federal judges with lifetime appointments who share President Obama’s contempt for the Constitution. Whether such judges will be confirmed by the Senate depends on whether the Senate continues to be controlled by Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid. Why in the world would any sane American

It was a hit job. Sixty veterans signing a much publicized “Open Letter to Fox News” — yet the signers were mysteriously never identified beyond the military branch in which they served. No wonder. I have been through the list of sixty, and it is filled with Obama campaign workers, one ex-Obama White House aide, liberal activists, Democratic Party congressional candidates, Democratic Party state legislators, and more. The letter was sponsored by the Truman Project, a ten-year-old think tank with a focus on national security. Its board of directors includes Hunter Biden, the son of the Vice President. It’s decision time for Republicans and Democrats battling for control of the Senate. Five weeks before the midterm elections, party leaders are peering into their campaign bank accounts, doing their math and trying to figure out where to put their money — and where to abandon hope. While it is unclear which party will be running the upper chamber in 2015, the states that will decide the race are now apparent. The decisions by D.C. power brokers are sure to be a disappointment for some candidates who will be left to the wayside. “It’s not a job for the sentimental. It’s hard to call

Except for the brief interregnum that separated the Republican Party’s George W. Bush era from its current Tea Party incarnation, President Obama has never enjoyed the kind of high approval ratings that used to accompany most two-term presidents. Whether it’s due to his race, our growing ideological polarization, the poor economy, or a combination of all of the above, Obama’s rarely known what it feels like to be a president of whom more than half of Americans approve. According to the Huffington Post, it only took until the tenth month of his first year before his number dipped below 50

LAKE VILLAGE, Ark. -- Tom Cotton has been traveling this large, rural state in a camouflage-painted RV, on the hunt for an “elusive” and “mysterious” Arkansan. This enigmatic figure is one who invariably sides with President Obama on the issues -- a stance generally viewed with distain in a state that voted for Mitt Romney by 24 percentage points in 2012. “I can’t find him anywhere I go in Arkansas!” the Republican congressman tells a group of supporters gathered last week at JJ’s Lakeside Café, located here in the southeastern part of the state, a region that traditionally has voted

Walker had found Jesus behind bars, earned a degree, started a Jaycees chapter, and been a model prisoner. But North Little Rock cops invariably rallied to prevent his parole and one day Walker walked away from a furlough. He showed up in California where he lived peacefully until he was picked up a few years later. There was some evidence that Walker was innocent—and

President Barack Obama has taken a lot of flack since his Sunday night “60 Minutes” interview, in which he blamed the intelligence community for his failure to tackle the threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. And that is right and proper. Because not only was his excuse of blaming us a lie, but when questioned on his lie, White House press secretary Josh Earnest doubled down with a whole new lie — both of which are easily, publicly proven false. The Obama administration found itself scrambling on Tuesday to defend President Barack Obama for his lackluster 42% attendance record on daily intelligence briefings, a finding from a new report issued by the non-partisan Government Accountability Institute (GAI). When asked about the GAI revelation on Fox News, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki appeared flustered and unprepared. "Well, I have no validation of those statistics," said Psaki. "There are a range of ways that you can get your intelligence briefings on the road, in the White House, and I know that he receives those whenever he can."

The sympathetic news media is avoiding mentioning his name, instead they are blaming the lack of a football intro for the massive collapse in ratings Sunday night for President Barack Obama’s appearance on CBS’ 60 Minutes. Americans turned away from watching Obama even though he was being interviewed about the nation’s new war on ISIS. For example, Deadline Hollywood didn’t even mention Obama’s 60 Minutes interview when reporting on the drop in viewers. “With no football lead-in, CBS’ Sunday lineup fell from last week. Sacramento, Calif. - Gov. A national coalition of plastic bag manufacturers immediately said it would seek a voter referendum to repeal the law, which is scheduled to take effect in July 2015. Under SB270, plastic bags will be phased out of large grocery stores starting next summer and convenience stores and pharmacies in 2016. President Obama this week committed professional suicide. Let me explain. There is a theory in politics that once a leader has fired 50 or more people from his or her administration, he or she is finished. The reason being that by creating so many enemies ‘outside the tent’, the tent itself becomes too deluged with poisonous bile to avoid sinking into a quagmire of back-stabbing ignominy. Obama went a lot further than firing 50 people. He managed to single-handedly alienate 200,000 employees in the American intelligence agencies by going on 60 Minutes and ruthlessly chucking them all under a bus
