CNN Hypes Audio Recording of Gunshots
Power Line, by John Hinderaker

Original Article

CNN has obtained and published an audio recording of a Ferguson, Missouri man engaged in what sounds like a sex chat with a woman. In the midst of it, you can hear gun shots in the background. These are presumed to be, although CNN says repeatedly that it has not verified the recording, the sounds of Officer Darren Wilson shooting Michael Brown. Erik Wemple relates the story behind the recording. Various observers, including CNN’s talking heads, have tried to attach great significance to the audio recording. CNN, promoting the recording as if it were a Blowup-type moment, recruited an audio expert

CNN is desparately clinging to the story they put forward from the beginning. Now they are manufacturing flimsy evidence to back it up. An audio recording does not ´contradict´ an autopsy and for them to claim so makes them look ridiculous.

There is most likely solid proof of the gun going off when the two punks reached inside of the heroic officer´s patrol car. That shot is curiously missing.
MSNBC also pimped out the tape.

Yeah, and the eyewitness (sic) said that Brown was shot in the back. Until the autopsy showed that was false.
Maybe CNN should have waited until they did have verification (imagine that) - the fact that they "repeatedly" say they haven´t verified is just more journalistic malpractice.

It´s so bad for CNN that the other night the only protestor on the streets of Ferguson appeared to be Don Lemon.
The sound of gunshots is apparently
fairly routine in this area which is why Barry White, Jr didn´t even notice.
Or perhaps he was busy.

Mark Fuhrman said the tape could be relevant if it was done at the time of the Brown shooting and if it was verified by all of the police´s facts: bullets remaining in Wilson´s firearm, casings found at the scene, bullet trajectories etc. Fuhrman said policemen are trained to do the initial firing and then stop to access the situation and resume firing if the assailant hasn´t been disabled.
Fuhrman seems(to me)more credible than a lot of the talking heads that just spout off with the usual Black Talking Points.

I could be wrong but I, for one, don´t buy it - at least not yet and certainly not without unbiased, impartial, professional corroboration.

With today´s sophisticated computers and audio technology, it would be easy to isolate the sound of gun fire from a gangster rap song or video and then re-use that snippet of sound in the background of a different, recorded conversation.

“Zone of Interest” is Martin Amis’ tour de force, but it couldn’t have happened without the influence of Peter Foges, Christopher Hitchens and others. In the years after the war, Britain was awash with stories and images of Nazi hell. The war crimes trials had revealed the full horror of what Hitler had done. Books like Lord Russell of Liverpool’s “Scourge of the Swastika” made the front pages and topped best-seller lists for months. When he was five, Martin Amis saw one of these lurid accounts accompanied by pictures of the railway tracks and crematoria of Auschwitz. Unable to understand them

On the polling front this weekend, Republicans have a few reasons to celebrate. Last week, the building blocks of the narrowest Republican Senate majority were clearly coming together. This week, polls indicate that Republicans have a number of avenues to pursue in their quest to win back the majority. In Louisiana, Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) has significantly narrowed the gap with Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), but that race looks set to head to a runoff. A CNN/ORC survey released on Sunday shows Cassidy and Landrieu statistically tied with 40 to 43 percent support respectively. That poll also revealed that retired

In most of its details, the domestic-violence case of Mark Fuller was not all that unusual. One night in August, a woman called 911 from a hotel room in Atlanta, pleading for help, because a man was beating her. When the police arrived, Fuller’s wife, Kelli, opened the door. She had “visible lacerations to her mouth and forehead,” the police report said. During an argument in which she had accused her husband of infidelity, the report continued, she said that he “threw her to the ground and kicked her. Mrs. Fuller also stated she was dragged around the room and Mr. Fuller hit her in the mouth several times with his hands.

Political pollsters have a tough job. They have to create formulas to determine if the person they are interviewing is likely to vote, and it is within this calculation that their reputations are made. Typically, those who are likely to vote in an off-year election are pretty set. They are the people who always vote in elections — with some motivated by specific issues. In a wave election, the number of those motivated by specific issues escalates, changing the electoral landscape as the candidates who are beneficiaries of this increased participation sweep to victory. The 2014 election is rapidly looking like something new
