Bashar Al Assad Is Laying a
Deadly Ambush for Obama in Syria

New Republic, by Fred Hof

President Barack Obama´s decision to authorize aerial surveillance of Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) positions in Syria suggests that airstrikes employing manned and unmanned aircraft may not be far behind. All of this is right and proper. Yet danger lurks. The head of Syria´s preeminent crime family—President Bashar Al Assad—waits, crocodile-like, for the American angler to tumble out of the boat. For Assad, opportunity knocks. If he handles matters correctly he can, with an assist from American inaction, return to polite society while others do the anti-ISIS heavy lifting for him. From the beginning of Syria´s 2011 popular

Frankly, I am sick to death of the mess Obama has made in the world. The only thing that saves him from world condemnation is his skin color. He has singlehandedly from day one destroyed everything he has touched. I challenge anyone to point to one successful policy endeavor (that is not anti-American) that Obama has enacted. He is a wrecking ball of incompetence.

I´m with other posters.
Obama and Valarie Jarrett have made all the poor decisions that have ruined this once great country so let the mess that they created consume both of them. This global mess can´t be fixed now and Assad along with Russia are laughing.
I can only hope that American lives aren´t lost while the Golf King dithers.

Perhaps the policy of antique/porcelain stores applies here: You break it, you bought it. Let´s see Valerie get Obama out of this one: When it comes to the Middle East Obama has boxed himself in. Everywhere he turns there is a wall, a maze with no exit. When one stands for nothing, has no discernible policy, the sky is the limit on negative outcomes. Subjective eclipses objective. Now Obama has a situation where he must decide whether to be allies with someone he formerly wanted to attack, depose. It couldn´t happen to a nicer person! ha ha. This man is not up to the job but he cheated to get there so let him take the heat/crash n burn.

American Presidents have been ambushed in the Middle East since Ike. Until we fight to annihilate the army of nut jobs, stop fooling with "real" governments who finance and totally support these guys in the process, nothing will be accomplished. First step is secure borders. Heck, we´re not even willing to do that.

Here are two easy lessons from recent history that Obama might do well to heed:

1. Military incrementalism doesn´t work (c.f. Vietnam). Either go in with everything you´ve got and win it, or stay home.

2. Democracy in the Middle East, Israel excepted, will never work unless the Sectarian Arabic Muslim culture fundamentally changes. In that milieu, dictators, savage as they tend to be, are the only political survivors capable of containing the marauding hordes of seventh century sectarian savages bent on slaughtering each other.

ZeroKing could send his old friend from Chicago, Farrakhan, to the Levant as ambassador to Islam in general. Farrakhan, as the leader of American Muslims, could straighten out that place in the very way ZeroKing - for a variety of reasons - just can´t.

Yes, Louis Farrakhan must play the very role for the president, that the great Texan, James Baker, played for his predecessors, the Bush clan.

It would be great television. Farrakhan in a white silk suit under a fez. Mirror shades. Surrounded by his private army of bow-tied guards. From Jordan to Istanbul back through Damascus, Beirut, Filistina, Ancient Persia, eating camel hump a la Riyadh with the King Fahd, Farrakhan goes deep with Hassan I Sabbah in nameless mountains, a high pitched piped supersonic envelope protects him, big speech at the Sphinx named: "The End of the Beginning, The Beginning of the End."

Farrakhan, recognized, acknowledged for what he has all along known he is: The Mahdi!

On June 25, 2014, 19 year-old Brendan Tevlin hopped into his car to return home after spending the evening at a friend’s house. Minutes later, Ali Muhammad Brown approached the vehicle as it was stopped at a red light and fired ten rounds into the car, killing Brendan. Originally, the teen’s murder was labeled an attempted robbery, allowing the media to remain silent. Now, court documents have revealed that Brown’s motivation for killing Tevlin had less to do with thievery, and more to do with America’s pushback against Jihadist terrorism in the Middle East. First Lady Michelle Obama has made healthy eating and exercise her signature issue. But, a recent study published by the Sage Journal found that her “elitist” advice actually “shames poor and middle class mothers.” The College Fix added that the study found that Michelle Obama’s healthy eating program is also sexist. It’s also sexist, the study’s authors suggest, noting that “intentionally or not, it places the burden of a healthy home-cooked meal on women.” Sage Journals published the study by North Carolina researchers Sarah Bowen, Sinikka Elliott and Joslyn Brenton. Whatever the result of the forthcoming referendum, the relations between England and Scotland will henceforth undergo a profound change. Under the present arrangement the Scots have twice as many votes per head as the English – one to govern themselves, by electing members to the Scottish Parliament, and one to govern the English, by electing members to the Parliament of the United Kingdom. And while the English are more likely to vote Conservative, the Scots send only Labour members to Westminster – even if they don’t send them to Edinburgh. From 2010 to 2013, 48-year-old Venita Godfrey-Scott directed her employees to use materials and supplies intended for VA medical center upkeep on her own house. These taxpayer-funded home improvement projects included “a deck in her backyard, carpet installation, and various kitchen, bathroom and basement improvements.” She also instructed employees to buy other necessary materials with her government-issued credit card, and had them work on these projects during normal work hours, when they were being paid by the VA.

All of the health plans offered by Obamacare exchanges in five states include coverage for abortions in a potential violation of the law that says at least two plans must be available to consumers who don’t want any association with the controversial procedure, according to a government audit released late Monday. Altogether, more than 1,000 Obamacare plans offer abortion coverage in 28 states that don’t prohibit it, the Government Accountability Office said, including 95 percent of the plans in California and all of the plans in Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Hawaii and New Jersey. The question is whether Perry represents the future of his party on immigration — or whether his nuanced positions on the issue will again become a liability in national politics. “It takes a very skilled politician to come across as tough on border security while, at the same time, not
