Cable Karma: Fox News soars as CNN
reportedly to announce huge layoffs

American Thinker, by Thomas Lifson

According to a report in The Wrap, CNN and sister network Headline News are planning to lay off 550 staffers, a huge and very painful cutback. (snip)Because progressives dominate 90% of media outlets and studiously ignore major stories like the IRS scandals, Benghazi, and basically anything harmful to Democrats, Fox News is handed the opportunity to reach the public with distinctive content unavailable elsewhere, and the public is responding. Most major media would rather be progressive than successful. But then again, progressivism almost never works as it promises, based as it is on a false notion that human nature can be

The best thing for ALL people in the U.S. would be when the MSM plays only movies and reruns , becau, hysterical news they present simply warps the thinking of viewers, in my opinion.

Is like to see the commie news network fold completely, but then, we´d probably be seeing AlJazeera in airports and hotel lobbies, not that it would make much difference.

CNN made money and news when they broke up the MSM monopoly.

Yet the public does not need another outlet to say the same old stuff.

This is why Fox is NOW making money and news, but we have to be on the lookout for them to slowly drift leftward.

Fox should go for the royal flush and dump Jerry Rivers, Uncle Juan, and Beckel.
Compared to the rest of the LSM that would be what I would call fair and balanced.

The Ivanpah solar generating plant is located in California about 50 miles from Las Vegas near the California-Nevada border. 173,000 mirrors are used to concentrate the sun on 3 boiler-towers where water is turned into steam to drive turbines and generate electricity. The mirrors track the sun and concentrate sunlight so that the intensity of light falling on the boiler-towers is about 500 times stronger than sunlight -- a death ray. Remember when Barack Obama was going through his “sort of god” phase in the media? Back then before he had a presidential track record, he was frequently pictured in the media with a halo. How times (and staff work) have changed! Last night’s speech clearly showed President Obama with horns protruding from his head. The staff that once upon a time posed him in front of Styrofoam columns managed to pull a Gingrich on him. The Democratic Party and the mainstream media joined to run interference for Barack Obama when he became a national figure. Obama was painted as a charismatic, competent, new kind of politician. The passage of time destroyed this image. Now, the public increasingly sees Obama as incompetent, untrustworthy and unmotivated. Supporters are now in an awkward position. Do they continue to support what is increasingly seen as an inept president or do they turn against him? Continuing the subterfuge is dangerous. Lending credibility to an incredible man is a certain way to destroy one’s own validity. Obama, once considered a savior and asset

If we should be attacked by terrorists who come across our unprotected, undefended southern border, and should Americans die in any such attack, we would do well to understand for what those lives were lost. They would have been spent for the ability of illegal aliens to cast illegal votes for politicians doing illegal things. While both parties are to some degree to blame for the porousness of our southern border, the party that has the singular ability to solve the problem via the levers of government, the Democrats, is ensuring that the problem becomes so pervasive and vast that

Barack Obama stands apart from other modern American Presidents in many ways. (snip)the widespread view that he is the coolest President ever. This supernal coolness is not new. In his autobiography, Dreams From My Father, the President wrote that in his teenage years “I tried my best to be cool at all times” (p. 82). Qua speech, Barack Obama’s address Wednesday on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was surprisingly terrible: a disorganized mess, insincere and unconvincing. To appreciate just how bad and bizarre it was, compare the president’s speech announcing a new air campaign in Iraq and Syria to Dwight Eisenhower’s 1958 statement on his decision to intervene in Lebanon with 14,000—14,000!—troops. The statement contains no chest-thumping about America’s leadership in science and medicine. No pivot to the auto industry and medical research. Eisenhower simply explained what had been done, and why.

Rarely has a president faced a greater challenge in establishing his credibility for a new foreign-policy move than Barack Obama did in his nationally televised speech tonight. A CNN poll earlier this week found that just 30 percent of voters thought Obama had presented a clear plan for fighting the Islamic State. While Obama now pledges to ask Congress to train and aid Syrian rebels who would fight the group, voters remember that he backed similar plans in Syria in 2013, when his advisers saw Syrian president Bashar Assad as the major threat. President Obama just announced that he is bringing a counter-terrorism strategy to an insurgency fight. He was at pains to repeat the phrase “counter-terror” four times in a short speech. Noting that ISIL is not a state (partly because the international community thankfully does not recognize it), he declared, “ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.” Neither of those sentences, unfortunately, is true. Throughout his presidency, President Obama has emphasized one point while talking about Islamist extremists: They are not practicing Islam, he has said, they are perverting it. He took that a step further Wednesday night. While announcing that he´s expanding the campaign against the Islamic State extremist group into Syria, Obama said flatly that this group, which is trying to install a caliphate in the Middle East, "is not Islamic."
