Saudi Foreign Minister signals
coexistence with Israel,
pressure on Palestinians

American Thinker, by Thomas Lifson

Original Article

The rise of the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS’s depredations in Syria and Iraq, and Hamas’s misrule in Gaza have finally caused the Saudis to publicly signal a rethinking of the reflexive commitment to destroying Israel. A tacit alignment of Saudi Arabia with Israel has long been discussed, but a very senior and influential member of the Saudi ruling family has very publicly declared that maybe the Jewish state can be tolerated, the Palestinians should ramp down their attempts to destroy it.

The Saudi´s and the Egyptians both see Israel as an ally in the war against militant Islam. How ironic that it´s coming about because of the consequences of Obama´s failed foreign policy in the region.

If we should be attacked by terrorists who come across our unprotected, undefended southern border, and should Americans die in any such attack, we would do well to understand for what those lives were lost. They would have been spent for the ability of illegal aliens to cast illegal votes for politicians doing illegal things. While both parties are to some degree to blame for the porousness of our southern border, the party that has the singular ability to solve the problem via the levers of government, the Democrats, is ensuring that the problem becomes so pervasive and vast that

It´s the latest instance of black-on-white mob violence sweeping America -- and a YouTube clip of the attack has gone viral. It shows a 17-year-old boy in Memphis, Tennessee, getting punched, knocked to the ground, and kicked in the head while lying helpless. Jubilant shouts and laughter from the black mob can be heard in the background. You have to wonder, incidentally, if there would have been a scandal if Levenson had stated that the NBA needed to draw

Barack Obama stands apart from other modern American Presidents in many ways. (snip)the widespread view that he is the coolest President ever. This supernal coolness is not new. In his autobiography, Dreams From My Father, the President wrote that in his teenage years “I tried my best to be cool at all times” (p. 82). However, leaving aside the contradiction inherent in trying to be cool, it is possible that Barack Obama’s teenage experiences may have left him psychologically, and perhaps even neurologically, incapable of performing fundamental tasks of his current position. Much of the appeal of coolness is its

Left wingers are willing to sacrifice the actual interests of the poor in service to their aspirations of political power. A perennial dream of the American progressives is to organize fast food workers into a union, a move that would be an absolute disaster for the intended beneficiaries. Some have called it the worst summer ever. This may or may not include the summer when an asteroid crashed near the Yucatan peninsula, almost extinguishing life on earth. But, with Labor Day past and the kids going back to school, it´s time to reflect on the summer of 2014. Terrorists announced a new caliphate in Syria and Iran, as Vlad the Shirtless warned of possible nuclear exchanges in Europe. All-out war erupted between Israel and Hamas, and the entire Middle East seemed to fall apart faster than an Obamacare promise. Rioting broke out in the Midwest. (For a while it was

Where in the world is Obama’s strategy for dealing with ISIS? Apparently not in Tallinn, Estonia, where the president of the United States contradicted himself this morning on his search for his strategy in dealing with ISIS. First, he said: “The bottom line is this: our objective is clear. That is to degrade and destroy ISIL" (snip)But then, later in the course of his somewhat rambling (that’s a charitable adjective) remarks, he said: "We know that if we are joined by the international community, we can continue to shrink ISIL´s sphere of influence, its effectiveness, its financing, its military capabilities to the point

Schadenfreude, taking pleasure in others’ suffering, is a nasty emotion, one I take no pride in confessing as I watch Democrats attempting to dodge responsibility for foisting Barack Obama upon us. Nevertheless, it is certainly satisfying to see Dems scurry away from Obama as he visits their states. Because I am a black conservative, someone wrote asking me this great question. “What is it that compels some black men and women to cling to, and follow people like Sharpton, Jackson, Wright, Obama, Spike Lee, Black Panthers, Holder, etc.?” I have pondered the same question. Some black folks embrace victim status because it provides cover for their laziness and irresponsible lifestyles. Black Judases preach a false, evil gospel of victimhood-ism for profit. Some blacks are racist, pure and simple. I believe that a majority of black Americans simply have not been exposed to unfiltered conservatism – to blacks articulating how blessed they

In an interview with Penny Lee, Democratic Strategist and former advisor to Harry Reid (yeah, that kinda says it all), Megyn Kelly could not refrain from expressing exasperation with her guest. And who could blame her? Kelly started out asking Lee about Obama’s decision to attend a Democratic fundraiser while we’re weighing whether to bomb Syria. Golf is a challenging game, and he has been focused like a laser (as Bill Clinton used to say) on improving his game on Martha’s Vineyard, and there’s only so much a guy can do. Coming up with a strategy for dealing with guys who are the junior varsity can wait – and after all there are three fundraisers and a wedding beckoning this holiday weekend, so what’s the hurry? Unfortunately for any residual desire of President Obama’s desire to be seen as a serous leader, the above sarcastic apologia fits his pattern of behavior

Churchill came under intense scrutiny and was fired by the University of Colorado at Boulder. What concerned Kelly most in the first part of the interview was that “little Eichmanns” comment, the argument being that Eichmann played a role in horrible atrocities even though he didn’t directly carry out the Final Solution, which he views as similar to the financial

Free money for everyone! With weak job growth, rising poverty, and the rich continuing to devour nearly all economic growth, it´s an idea that is gaining more credence. Arguments for a universal basic income (UBI) — in which everyone without exception would receive an equal stipend — have flourished in policy-centric areas of the internet, including The Week. Advocates of UBI see it as a blunter, more effective means of reducing poverty and shrinking the inequality gap. But even if UBI proponents are right on the merits, Tyler Cowen argues that the politics of the issue are not favorable. Under
