WH: Checked-out Obama

The Hill, by Amie Parnes

The White House is bristling at suggestions President Obama is disconnected, checked out or out of touch. White House allies maintain that the storyline of a checked-out president is a myth drummed up by the media during the summer doldrums. “It’s bullshit,” said one former senior administration official. “This is a guy who reads 10 letters a day simply to keep in touch with the American people. He spends all his time thinking about the economy and improving lives of the American people. He’s constantly in touch.” Obama has been criticized as out of touch by critics and supporters, with the subject

He should be spending 8 hours a day on the job just like "ordinary" folks. He does not meet with members of his cabinet; he does not meet with members of Congress; however, he does play golf, go to parties, watch hours of TV, talks to Valerie who tells him what she wants him to know about the decisions on the economy and national security that she has made. He just nods and smiles and eats his dinner like a good little boy.

Obama´s daily schedule is posted on the official web site.
His days begin at 10:30 or 110. Most days he receives a daily briefing with Biden, then they have lunch. There might be a meeting listed very late in the afternoon sometimes.

Remember her name - AMIE PARNES - if you don´t recall it already.

She wrote so many Obama puff pieces (especially on Mooch) in that the PARNES-O-METER was born, rating her articles with numbers of kisses, 1 to 10 as I recall. Most were 10s.

In those days she wrote for Politico.

Tells us a lot about The Hill. When I´d see A.B. Stoddard ( whom I cannot stand) on Bret Baier´s panel, waffling between left and moderate positions), it was a tipoff as to how The Hill leans. And Juan is there... Sounds like a beach where other lefty sites´s detritus washes up.

Here´s the amusing 2011 article about Amie Parnes and how the PARNES-O-METER was born:

We’re not the only ones who have noticed Parnes’ smooching.

Each week we’ll bring you Parnes’ story samplings and give her a weekly Parnes-o-meter rating of 1 to 10 kisses. For instance, 1 is mild suckup, and 10 is, well, she might as well be making out with FLOTUS.

There is an election coming up, so for the next couple of months look for Obama to become a busy beaver and to emulate at least temporarily being a war hawk by dispatching the drones, to look the situation in Syria over so that the military can access the problems they could have with any modern Russian supplied anti-aircraft systems that may be located there if Obama authorizes manned bombing missions.

A lot of National Football League players have been right up on the front page lately, but for all the wrong reasons. Ray Rice is in serious trouble for knocking his then-fiancé out cold—the tape of the event is enough to make almost anyone at least slightly ill. Vice President Biden´s Wednesday kicked off with an acknowledgment that he had used a "poor choice of words." By day´s end, he had put foot in his mouth again. Twice. Biden opened the door to the possibility the United States could commit ground troops to fight the Islamic State in Iraq, a strategy the Obama administration has painstakingly avoided raising. That came shortly after he walked back his use of the word "Shylocks" and his use of the anachronistic term "Orient" to describe Asia. Nearly two million Americans could be affected by what’s been termed the “family glitch” within President Obama’s healthcare law, according to a new study by the American Action Forum. In theory, Obamacare is supposed to offer fully or partially subsidized health insurance to Americans below a certain income threshold if they do not have the option of obtaining affordable coverage through their employers. "Affordable" is defined as coverage cheaper than 9.5 percent of household income. But under a ruling by the Internal Revenue Service, an employer is only required to offer affordable coverage to individuals. The “glitch” arises when one or both spouses

On the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, President Obama used the occasion last week to remind Americans that “our combat mission in Afghanistan will come to an end” in three months. Ed Royce (R-Calif.), who chairs the House International Relations Committee, told The Post of the Kurds. Royce, who met this week with the foreign minister of Kurdistan, cited recent reports of young female Kurdish troops “laughing” at ISIS forces they had turned back. “These ISIL soldiers apparently believed that if

On Thursday In a session with the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Secretary of State John Kerry was asked by Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) whether America was at war in Iraq and Syria. (Video) Kerry responded: “If you’re more comfortable calling it a war against this enemy of Islam then please do so. We’re happy to call it that.” So its official: America is at war with the enemy of Islam. While enteroviruses in general are quite common, this particular strain — enterovirus 68 — has not cropped up terribly often since it was first identified in 1962. It can cause severe breathing problems, a particular danger for children who may suffer from asthma or other

(Video)Friday during the White House press briefing, National Security Advisor Susan Rice abruptly left in the middle of a question after confusing reporters with her announcement President Barack Obama was going ahead with air strikes in Syria. When reporters began to grill Rice about whether the president had already given the authorization to the militarily to bomb in Syria, Rice kept repeating they would not be releasing information on the timing of those air strikes. Reporters continued to push with several trying to explain their question is if the president has already given authorization. Laughing uncomfortably Rice exited the room

A man who’s a better speechwriter than his speechwriters, a better political director than his political directors, and who knows more about policy than his policy advisors must surely also be a better general than his generals, no? The U.S. military campaign against Islamist militants in Syria is being designed to allow President Barack Obama to exert a high degree of personal control, going so far as to require that the military obtain presidential signoff for strikes in Syrian territory, officials said. The requirements for strikes in Syria against the extremist group Islamic State will be far more stringent than those targeting
