Absolutely tragic. This young man was not a gang-banger...he had so much potential and a family who loved him.

So was Trayvon, Michael Brown, and the thousands of black kids killed by other blacks.

That´s what they always say!

According to a report on the incident obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Thursday, Douglas said someone rang her doorbell around 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 3. She looked out her bedroom window and spotted a truck parked nearby in the middle of the intersection of Falconhurst Drive and Hewatt Road. Douglas called

Their release poses no public health risk, Dr. Bruce Ribner of Emory University Hospital stressed. Dr. Kent Brantly, 33, and Nancy Writebol, 59, show no evidence of Ebola, and generally patients do not relapse and are not contagious once they´ve recovered, said Ribner, director of the hospital´s infectious disease unit. At a news conference, Brantly, who walked in holding hands with his wife, said, "Today is a

Police have arrested two more suspects in a string of car thefts involving women in parking lots, bringing to three the number of teenagers now in custody on charges stemming from attacks that started July 5. Atlanta police said Wednesday members of the U.S. Marshal’s counter gang unit picked up 17-year-old Ethan Gathright on Tuesday in DeKalb County. Members of the Atlanta Police Department’s gang unit arrested Hoye Anderson, 18, also on Tuesday.

ATLANTA — Atlanta police now say a mother whose 3-year-old son shot himself in the face had three unsecured guns in the home, including an AK-47. The news that police said 22-year-old Angel Douglas had three guns in her home when her toddler found one and shot himself in the face caught some of Douglas´ northwest Atlanta neighbors by surprise. "Why so many guns? Why so many guns?" LaShandra Pope asked. Officers said Douglas had that AK-47, a 12-gauge shotgun and a handgun. "It´s not that serious to have that many guns around a child. Not that many to keep safe,"

UNTERFÖHRING, Germany — In nearly 30 years at Heckler & Koch, a legendary German gunmaker, Ernst Mauch designed some of the world’s most lethal weapons, including the one that reportedly killed Osama bin Laden. A state regulator once called him a “rock star” in the industry. Now the gun world sees him a different way: as a traitor. The target of their fury is the smart gun Mauch designed at Armatix, a start-up near Munich. The very concept of the weapon has been attacked by U.S. gun rights advocates even as it has helped Mauch resolve a sense of guilt that

I feel confident in saying that most Americans are disgusted by the perfectly legal practice of U.S. companies avoiding taxes by incorporating in another country. So why does it take a whopper of a story to get the media to pay attention? Burger King, as you know, is moving to buy the Canadian chain Tim Hortons, and this is more about dollars than doughnuts. The hamburger giant plans to move its headquarters to Canada, thereby slashing its Treasury tax bill. The White House doesn’t like it. Democrats don’t like it. The Republicans don’t like it. Our AJC colleague Nicholas Fouriezos passes along the following dispatch: The racial unrest caused by tensions over the shooting of black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., could be a rallying cry for Democratic get-out-the-vote efforts, according to the voter education committee chair for the Democratic Southern caucus. “There is a story beneath the story in Ferguson,” chairwoman Janet May said at the Southern Caucus meeting during the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta on Friday. May ran through the stats of the 21,000-person Missouri town: 13,000 black citizens, about 7,000 white. Five city council members– one of whom was black.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.— Former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist continued his political comeback Tuesday as Democratic voters selected him as their nominee to challenge Republican Gov. Rick Scott in Florida, one of four states where voters were choosing candidates for statewide office. Crist easily defeated former state Sen. Both have struggled with sagging approval ratings and run-ins with conservatives. “It’s a wonderful night,” Crist declared after accepting a concession call from Rich. Crist said the strong showing is a sign that Democrats

A ´supercavitating´ submarine creates a bubble of air that encompasses the whole vehicle by ejecting gas through the nose with enough force that it forms water vapor. This greatly reduces drag and allows it to travel at high speeds not possible by standard submarines. Photo: The Washington Post In the annals of vehicular locomotion, the submarine is the equivalent of the Walkman. It dazzled the masses when it hit, flexing nuclear-tipped missiles that completed the "nuclear triad" of deterrence. But other technologies soon surpassed it in terms of speed and agility. Now, years later, the submarine may be making a
