Mike Brown’s shooting and Jim Crow
lynchings have too much in common.
It’s time for America to own up

Guardian [UK], by Isabel Wilkerson

Original Article

Not terribly long ago in a country that many people misremember, if they knew it at all, a black person was killed in public every four days for often the most mundane of infractions, or rather accusation of infractions – for taking a hog, making boastful remarks, for stealing 75 cents. For the most banal of missteps, the penalty could be an hours-long spectacle of torture and lynching. No trial, no jury, no judge, no appeal. Now, well into a new century, as a family in Ferguson, Missouri, buries yet another American teenager killed at the hands of authorities, the

Comments:
Isabel Wilkerson is black. And this is absurd.

First, 18 is not a teenager. It is the age of majority in the UK and in most if not all of the United States of America. That "eighteen" has teen in it is meaningless, immaterial. Unless one is trying to manipulate thinking.

She didn´t "misremember". She never got the truth in the first place.

And for black on black killings, has she heard of Chicago?

Yes the party of Bull Connor is calling for the lynching of the police officer.

Same party same reasons, different faces.

Brown wasn´t lynched, but shot for viciously assaulting a police officer. It is Officer Darren Wilson that they are trying to lynch, without a trial or evidence of guilt. Liberals always twist the truth like this, and will never tell you that it was Democrats who instituted Jim Crow, segregation, and lynched Blacks.

Back in the Bull Conner days, those blacks were truly innocent and it was Democrats lynching them. Victims like Brown and Trayvon could have avoided being killed by behaving differently. Case closed. Teach your children well and they´ll survive.

Michael Brown was an overgrown thug with no ethics or principals. He used his huge body to intimidate others to take whatever he wanted. He was running full speed at the officer thinking he would hit him with the full force of his 300 lbs. which would probably have killed the officer. Had Michael Brown simply gotten off the street and out of traffic, he would be alive. Michael Brown did this to himself. Why do you not concern yourself with all the Black on Black killings in Chicago?

Perhaps England should mind their own business and keep their attention centered on the Muslim head slicers populating their inner cities.

According to the official FBI statistics for 2012 (the most recent they have released), only 193 black people were killed by white people in 2012.

If her statement about a black person being killed by a white cop every 3 to 4 days is true, then over half of those killings were done by cops. Of course, she conveniently didn´t include where she supposedly got her "facts" from.

Of course, those same official FBI statistics show that 2,412 blacks were killed by other blacks in 2012. I´m guessing cops are far from the worst enemy of the average black person...

FBI statistics can be found at:

I checked out Ms Wilkerson´s short bio - she´s a past NYT bureau chief in Chicago so she´s got to be relatively aware of black on black crime there. I don´t think she´s a Brit - I do think she´s writing from a purely racial bias.
Jim Crow days were an evil time, but there´s little comparison with today. We should (maybe SHE should) be asking more questions re the missing fathers in the black community...

Uh, actually, her lynching narrative is even hogwash, a largely fictionalized version of history. Get underneath the history of the practice of "lynching" in America and quite a different picture emerges, one that doesn´t support the fictions being taught as black "history." The information is out there, and it´s quite easy to find. One might begin by breaking down "lynching" by state, territory, the real crimes they were accused of, and the racial breakdown of those lynched. Eye opening.

This is worse than revised history, it´s made up out of whole cloth. I studied Black History in American and even did a long term paper on lynchings in the South. Her statistics of a black person being killed every 4 days would be akin to genocide and we´d have a very, very small black population in this country, and no blacks in the South. Crazy.

What a twit.

When I see that Blacks are far more likely to be injured in confrontations with police, I ask, "What are they doing to force police confrontations, and why are they then agitating with the police?".

I rarely have to deal with a police officer because I don´t do anything that would require an officer to talk to me. When I do, I am respectful and not aggressive. I give the officer no reason to feel aggression is required to resolve the situation. Blacks walking around with a huge chip on their shoulder seem unable to understand this.

The people that end up talking to police most often are those that have criminal records or exhibit criminal or aggressive behavior. THAT is what the statistics show, that Blacks choose aggression far more often than whites.

Liberal twits see numbers and make up an unjustified story.

Washington DC thinks we are stupid, they really do. The professional political class has yet to grasp the understanding that “WWW” as a prefix in the internet stands for “World Wide Web”. We are quite capable of connecting, collecting and digesting information directly from the heart of the issues being debated. There is no mysterious “moderate” third option; the “rebels” are radical islamists. President Obama and Republican Senator John McCain

Medics carrying out a vaccination programme in rebel-held northern Syria accidentally administered a muscle relaxant to up to 75 children, killing 15 of them, the opposition says. Are chimpanzees naturally violent to one another, or has the intrusion of humans into their environment made them aggressive? A new study, published Wednesday in Nature, is setting off a new round of debate around this question. The study’s authors argue that a review of all known cases when chimpanzees or bonobos in Africa killed members of their own species shows that violence is a natural part of chimp behavior and not the result of actions by humans that push chimp aggression to lethal attacks. The researchers say their analysis supports the idea that warlike violence in chimps is a natural behavior that

Perhaps the best way to think of this is to use President Obama’s own words. It appears the “doctors, farmers, pharmacists and so forth” have struck up a truce with ISIS. That’s a problem, because Obama’s ISIS elimination plan requires the “doctors, farmers, pharmacists and so forth” to fight against ISIS on the ground while we shoot at ISIS from the sky.
