Burger King wants to buy
Tim Hortons, save on taxes

Associated Press, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 8/25/2014 11:25:17 AM

Miami - Burger King is in talks to buy Tim Hortons in hopes of creating a new, publicly traded company with its headquarters in Canada. With a new base in Canada, Burger King, now based in Miami, could shave its U.S. tax bill. Tax inversions have become increasingly popular among U.S. companies trying to cut costs. (Snip) In an inversion, a U.S. company reorganizes in a country with a lower tax rate by acquiring or merging with a company there. Inversions allow companies to transfer money earned overseas to the parent company without paying additional U.S. taxes. That money can be used to reinvest in the business or to fund dividends

Comments:
This was tried by Walgreens recently until 0bama put the pressure on them to stay and pay up. Burger King is the home of the homosexual "Proud Whopper." I'd be careful as IS may be moving into Canada and they espouse sharia law.

I applaud and encourage all US-based corporations to move to countries that treat them more favorably. We have a Marxist dominated government and any corporation that pays taxes to this government is supporting the Marxists -- not by choice, but nonetheless supporting them. When the opportunity to stop supporting them arises, they should take it -- it would be for the good of all Americans.

It´s funny how creativity kicks in when companies are being held up almost at gunpoint by the IRS/Congress/total force of government coercion.

Businesses seek to increase profits, for their investors (some of which are labor unions). => anyone who approves of increased business profits is pro union. Any lefties who disapprove are anti union and therefore fascists.

Obama´s biggest backer was Wall Street. He has repaid them many times over. There is now a stock market bubble, and a 4% return is considered very good.

When your job disapears to Mexico, the govt shrugs and goes on.

When the taxes are moving across the border, expect them to scream about it.

Air travelers on Sunday can likely expect further delays and cancellations at Chicago airports as the FAA labored to return traffic to normal after an arson fire Friday at the agency´s Aurora radar facility wreaked havoc in the nation´s air travel system. Although the FAA said Saturday that technicians were working to complete a "damage assessment and timeline for restoration of services" at the Aurora facility, the agency did not specify when the air traffic control center, one of the nation´s busiest, would be fully operational. Flight cancellations and delays continued to slow travelers Saturday.

Syrian militant group al-Nusra Front has denounced US-led air strikes as "a war against Islam". In an online statement, the al-Qaeda-linked group called on jihadists around the world to target Western and Arab countries involved. It comes as the US and other nations widened air strikes against Islamic State (IS) fighters in Iraq and Syria. The Pentagon said jets hit the Syrian city of Raqqa on Saturday as well as IS positions near the Turkish border. Kurdish fighters have been defending the Kurdish town of Kobane on the Syrian side of the border since an IS advance sent about 140,000 civilians fleeing to Turkey.

Political pollsters have a tough job. They have to create formulas to determine if the person they are interviewing is likely to vote, and it is within this calculation that their reputations are made. Typically, those who are likely to vote in an off-year election are pretty set. They are the people who always vote in elections — with some motivated by specific issues. In a wave election, the number of those motivated by specific issues escalates, changing the electoral landscape as the candidates who are beneficiaries of this increased participation sweep to victory.
