Dan Rather to Pundits Calling
for War: Send Your Own Kids
or ‘Don’t Even Talk to Me’

Mediaite, by Evan McMurry

Original Article

Veteran journalist Dan Rather told Reliable Sources host Brian Stelter that the scores of pundits calling for action in Iraq, Syria, and elsewhere were reminiscent of the buildup to the 2003 Iraq War, which Rather called a blunder of “historic proportions,” and that hawks needed to be prepared to send their own kids to battle before they so cavalierly recommend it for others. Quoth Rather: “All of these people on television, some of whom I have enormous respect for, it unsettles me to hear them say, listen, we the United States have to ‘do something’ in Ukraine, we have to

This is a war for the very survival of civilization!!!

I am willing for both of my kids to go fight once they of age, and I am willing to go myself if it comes down to it (and it may).

I guess Dan didn´t notice how Islamic savages treat the media, did he now, or he would be very happy that we have a modern volunteer military ready to make sure that doesn´t happen to his cowardly girlyman self!!!!

Gee, Dan. There still are a vast number of Americans who understand that freedom isn´t free, and have made the commitment to serve in out military. Many of us have ancestors that fought for the Confederacy. We view military service pretty much as an obligation of citizenship. Our kids have been brought up to understand that too.

We also understand that our wing man, or the guy in the next bunker, is probably not a liberal.

But everyone tells us how sophisticated the IS military force is. Let´s show them some real sophistication, play to our strengths. Let´s bomb the h**l out of them!

And I don´t mean 500# bombs delivered from carrier-based jets on a 2,000 mile round trip journey - to take out a Humvee.

I mean lots of armed drone attacks, sub and ship-launched cruise missiles, C130 and C-17-d3elivered Daisy Cutters and MOABs (Mother Of All Bombs), and B-52/B-2 carpet bombing when the roaches come out in the open.

Islamic terrorist aren´t an army. They are a bunch of subhuman vermin that surround themselves with women and children, and use hospitals, schools and mosques as bases.

Where are we supposed to bomb where we won´t just give them a bunch of photo ops of blown up hospitals and dead women and children.

That type of enemy can only be fought on the ground, man to subhuman vermin terrorist.

The last war that America really "won" ended in 1945. We won it by destroying the enemy regardless of "collateral damage." The ROE in Iraq and Afghanistan, even under Bush, we´re absurd and cost US lives.

Either win regardless of collateral damage, or stay out. As it´s been said, let Allah sort ´em out. Given our current "leadership," no chance.

#26: Cut me some slack, please. I try to pay attention.

Respectfully, I think your description better fits the dug-in forces of Hamas, rather than the terrorists forces of the Islamic State which is on the march, gobbling up territory.

The strategy I proposed above was for the IS. When we´ve decimated them and the start to operate like Hamas, we should then resort to the Israeli strategy of pinpoint air strikes followed by overwhelming force on the ground.

Above all, we should s**t-can the bleeding heart ROE philosophy our guys have labored under (and been killed by).

The New York Times has lost faith in President Barack Obama‘s pledge to avoid committing ground troop to the ISIS fight in Syria and Iraq. When Obama gave a speech last week that laid out his plan to combat ISIS, an Islamic terrorist network, he said the U.S. would engage in military airstrikes but would not be utilizing its own ground troops. That policy seemed to reverse on Tuesday, however, when Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Martin Dempsey said there could be scenarios where ground troops would be necessary. The White House then tried turning that back around, saying

Previous congressional investigations, including one just wrapped up last month, have not yielded any smoking guns against the Obama administration. But Gowdy’s investigation is expected to last well into 2015 or beyond, potentially complicating a presidential run by Hillary Clinton, who was Secretary of State when the attacks occurred.

The unveiling of President Obama’s new plan to contain the Ebola virus did little to appease critics who questioned the White House’s commitment to halting an epidemic with wide-ranging national security consequences. Cat Stevens - also known as Yusuf Islam - is to perform a series of dates in the US for the first time since 1976. The musician, who converted to Islam in 1977 and put his career on hold, will play six concerts in December. The 66-year-old, who was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, is now known by his original stage name and Yusuf. He is best known for his 1971 recording of Christian hymn Morning Has Broken, a top 10 hit in both the UK and US. Stevens had a number of other hits during

Democrats are now (very slightly) favored to hold the Senate majority on Nov. 4, according to Election Lab, the Post´s statistical model of the 2014 midterm elections. Election Lab puts Democrats´ chances of retaining their majority at 51 percent -- a huge change from even a few months ago when the model predicted that Republicans had a better than 80 percent chance of winning the six seats they need to take control. (Worth noting: When the model showed Republicans as overwhelming favorites, our model builders -- led by George Washington University´s John Sides -- warned that the model could and

Department of Justice is launching a new program today in partnership with the White House, the Department of Homeland Security, and the National Counterterrorism Center that will train "community leaders" like teachers and social workers to monitor their communities for signs of radicalization. (snip) In his announcement of the initiative, Attorney General Eric Holder described the program as a way to "be both innovative and aggressive in countering violent extremism and combating those who would sow intolerance, division, and hate" in the homeland. He labeled it an expansion of existent efforts to "to identify threats before they emerge, to disrupt

First Lady Michelle Obama has made healthy eating and exercise her signature issue. But, a recent study published by the Sage Journal found that her “elitist” advice actually “shames poor and middle class mothers.” The College Fix added that the study found that Michelle Obama’s healthy eating program is also sexist. It’s also sexist, the study’s authors suggest, noting that “intentionally or not, it places the burden of a healthy home-cooked meal on women.” Sage Journals published the study by North Carolina researchers Sarah Bowen, Sinikka Elliott and Joslyn Brenton. Here are a few of the findings: Magazines such as Good Housekeeping and

The Obama administration is preparing to introduce major steps to phase out production of a popular chemical coolant used in refrigerators and air conditioners, citing growing evidence that the substance is contributing to the warming of the planet. The White House will announce on Tuesday a series of voluntary commitments by some of the country’s largest chemical firms and retailers to move rapidly away from R-134a and similar compounds used in nearly every office, home and automobile in the country, according to current and former U.S. officials familiar with the effort. The administration is simultaneously stepping up diplomatic efforts to

Washington - The current threat posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, will test not only the resolve and strategic judgment of America and its allies, but also our nation’s fidelity to a basic constitutional principle. Our Constitution reserves to Congress the power to declare war and designates our president as the commander in chief, but our recent history has been characterized by executive overreach and legislative abdication in the initiation of military action. The current crisis gives us an opportunity to restore the proper balance between the branches. America’s history since 2001 should compel us to fix the way

The United States government is sending thousands of military troops to the west African nation of Liberia as part of the Obama administration´s Ebola virus-response strategy, the White House said late Monday night. [Snip] ´A general from U.S. Army Africa, the Army component of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), will lead this effort, which will involve an estimated 3,000 U.S. forces.´ Liberia is the hardest-hit of the four west African nations that have confirmed Ebola cases, accounting for more than one-half of the fatalities. The others are Sierra Leone, Guinea and, to a lesser extent, Nigeria.
