Libya´s newly-elected parliament has condemned as terrorists the militia alliance which says it has captured Tripoli´s international airport. It said the alliance was now a legitimate target for the armed forces. The alliance includes Islamists and fighters from the city of Misrata. A spokesman for the militia said that the new parliament was illegitimate and called for the country´s former governing body, the Islamist-dominated General National Council, to reconvene. FBI agents to guard UK
airports against jihadi fanatics
Daily Express [UK], by Caroline Wheeler    Original Article

Dozens of FBI agents are to be posted at UK airports amid fears that Britain’s anti-terrorism efforts are failing to keep track of jihadi fanatics. Three US officers from a specialist FBI counter-terror unit are expected to land at Heathrow on Tuesday, with another 10 arriving within the week and dozens more over coming months. They will monitor suspect passengers as well as investigate “terror hot-spots” across Britain in the wake of the beheading of American James Foley in Iraq. Last night, however, critics claimed their arrival was an admission that cuts to police and the UK Border Force had

President Obama was back on the golf course today as he enjoyed yet another 18 holes amid deepening concerns about the spreading terrorist rampage of extremist group ISIS. The President played a round with former NBA basketball star Alonzo Mourning and Cyrus Walker, cousin of White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, at Farm Neck Golf Club, in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts on Saturday. His hours on the golf course during a two-week break on the resort island of Martha´s Vineyard have his detractors teeing up as they highlight the slew of foreign policy crises currently facing the U.S.

British jihadis involved in the brutal beheading of American reporter James Foley callously boasted of making personal fortunes from ransoms paid for other released hostages. The gang openly talked of making so much money they could ‘retire to Kuwait or Qatar’, according to testimonies by former hostages obtained by The Mail on Sunday. The four Islamic State militants--nicknamed The Beatles by their Western captives--were reported to be ‘interested in money’ from the start of the kidnap ordeal, even bragging to prisoners about how much they were making. A security source revealed last night that £24 million was paid by at least

British Special Forces hunting the killer of James Foley are using an array of sophisticated equipment to track him down--and possibly free other hostages being held. The Mail on Sunday has been given a detailed account of how elite troops from the SAS and the Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR) are conducting high-tech operations inside Syria and Iraq, which could lead to the capture of the extremists within days. It is understood the true identity of Jihadi John has not yet been established and that the precise location where Mr Foley was executed--as seen in a video which shocked the world--remains

Five rockets from Syria landed across the border with Israel in the Golan Heights overnight between Saturday and Sunday. [Snip] Multiple alert sirens sounded in the Golan Regional Council warning of the attack. The projectile strike from Syria came hours after a separate incident on Saturday night in which a rocket fired from Lebanon hit a building in an open area in the Upper Galilee. Two children were lightly injured by shrapnel and four people were suffering from shock as a result of the attack. The news agency NNA, citing its correspondent in Tire, said the rockets were fired towards Israel

Thousands of people shouted anti-Israel and anti-Semitic slogans, wore anti-Semitic T-shirts, and defended Hitler on Saturday--all in alleged defense of a "free Gaza" and "Palestinian rights" at a protest outside London´s Downing Street. Breitbart News reporters at the scene reported a current of violence running through the crowd, with at least one peaceful pro-Israel counter-protester saying he felt "physically intimidated." Police later banned the man from participating, possibly for his safety; reporters were also asked to leave. Hate crimes against Jews have risen 383% worldwide since 2013, including a 436% hate crime hike in Europe. Thousands of people have participated in anti-Israel

Lauren Bacall, one of the last great actresses of cinema´s golden era, has left $10,000 (£6,000) to her pampered dog Sophie. The star, nicknamed "The Look" for her smouldering on-screen presence, died this month at the age of 89 in New York, the city where she was born and raised. Her estate documents show she left $26.6 million, split between her three children, plus a special bequest to her beloved papillon dog. That money will go to her youngest son, Sam Robards, 53, to ensure that Sophie continues to live in the manner to which she is accustomed. Neighbours frequently

We are not engaged in a religious war. This is not a confrontation between Islam and the West. To start from that premise is to place Isil (which should not be called by its presumptive title “Islamic State”) on precisely the ground it wishes to occupy. [Snip] The contest is not modern liberal democracy versus the Dark Ages. This is to impose meaning on what is, in truth, meaningless. There is nothing coherent or comprehensible at the heart of the homicidal Isil frenzy. It is just what it looks like: psychopathic nihilism. Indeed, it may be worse than counterproductive to

The US is considering escalating its assault on Islamic State and the Levant extremists with air raids, drone strikes and special forces operations inside Syria following the murder of James Foley, an American journalist. Barack Obama has so far resisted calls for attacks inside Syria, and justified similar operations in Iraq as protecting US forces or preventing the genocide of religious minorities at the hands of Sunni fundamentalists. However, the graphic video of Mr Foley’s death has brought a hardening of Washington’s position. Benjamin Rhodes, the president’s deputy national security adviser, told reporters in Martha’s Vineyard, where Mr Obama is

President Obama has few remaining friends—either in his own party or in the media. That’s the unmistakable conclusion of two pieces this week in the New York Times. Just about everyone, it seems, is down on his single, solitary nature.I’ve been saying for a year now that the president’s liberal media allies have soured on him. It started with the ObamaCare debacle and continued through his seeming passivity or slow reaction time in the wake of the VA scandal, the Bowe Bergdahl mess, the military collapse in Iraq and so on. At this point they’re basically Waiting for Hillary. What is striking

We wuz robbed. Admit it, you neo-cons, paleo-cons, compassionates, country clubbers and decline-to-states: right now, in a just, moral, ordered universe, Mitt Romney should be President. He was right on Iraq and Benghazi, right on healthcare, immigration, and Russia. But he was so mendaciously smeared that voters possessed the ludicrous mindset that Mitt didn’t “care about someone like me.” Feckless Republican operatives allowed data-mining splashed with voter fraud to seal the defeat. Twenty months later, numerous polls indicate significant voter remorse. This genuine sentiment has naturally provoked calls of “Run, Mitt,

I’ve sat in archives and stared at the first documents that American communists excitedly sent from their offices at 1219 Blue Island Avenue in Chicago to Soviet Comintern headquarters in Moscow. I’ve spent hundreds of hours reading old copies of the Soviet-funded

President Obama is still vacationing in Martha´s Vineyard as this is written. But he may have experienced a jolting encounter with a grim reality. The problem with Obama is too often there is no "there, there" with his words on foreign policy issues. Most infamously, he drew a red line Syria, warning of terrible consequences if the Assad regime used chemical weapons. Then, when the Assad regime did use chemical weapons, Obama unexpectedly deferred to Vladimir Putin to broker a deal that rendered the red line irrelevant. There is no doubt that Obama, to this point in his presidency, has been epically

Ferguson, MO - Conditions calmed this week in Ferguson after nights of sometimes violent unrest stemming from the fatal shooting of a black 18-year-old by a white police officer. But a delicate and crucial question lingers: What happens if the grand jury now considering the case doesn’t return a charge against the officer? The fear among some local residents and officials trying to maintain peace in Ferguson is that failure to charge the officer could stoke new anger among a community profoundly mistrustful of the legal system. Many say they just hope the grand jury’s decision, whatever it is, has irrefutable facts to back it up.
