IDF warns Gazans:
Steer clear from terror sites

Jerusalem Post [Israel], by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:Attercliffe, 8/23/2014 9:22:00 AM

The IDF called on residents of Gaza to steer clear of areas used to wage attacks against Israel. The army distributed leaflets across the coastal territory and warned the population via recorded voice messages and text messages that it "will use force against any military or civilian facility used for terrorist activities." "Any house that is used to wage attacks against Israel will be targeted," the leaflets read. "The mission is still ongoing; Beware." . "For your own safety," the army admonished Gaza residents, "prevent terrorists from using your property for terror activities and keep clear from any place where

I really don´t care much anymore about Muslim ´civilians´ getting killed or hurt in the Israeli/ Palestinian fight, since Muslim sympathizers don´t seem too concerned when civilian reporters are beheaded in public!

We aren´t doing it because of anyone´s stupid opinion--nothing we do will change us from "the nation that dwells alone"-- except that of the Only One who counts.

David Cameron: he said everything
we might have hoped for
Telegraph [UK], by Janet Daley    Original Article

Uncharacteristically, I´m almost lost for words--or at least for critical words. David Cameron said pretty much everything I wanted him to say in his belter of a conference speech. [Snip] What this amounted to in effect was a picture of a social morality based on rewards for hard work, personal responsibility, pride in your achievements, and true fairness (which is to say, getting "something for something" rather than something for nothing). And, most important, the idea that permitting people to live in permanent dependency was not just a waste of money, but a waste of life.

US cannot tell how effective
airstrikes against ISIS have
been because of huge gaps
in intelligence, officials claim
Daily Mail [UK], by Darren Boyle    Original Article

Pentagon officials are finding it difficult determining how effective US airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria are because of ´significant gaps in intelligence´. Senior current and former US officials have told the Associated Press that American aircraft are running under less restrictive rules than those governing drone strikes in Pakistan and Yemen. Despite this, they are having difficulties determining the effectiveness of the bombing missions targeting Al-Qaeda and ISIS due the lack of intelligence assets on the ground. These assets identify targets before an airstrike and conduct an after action battle damage assessment.

´We need tax cuts for hardworking
people´: Cameron promises no income
tax paid on the minimum wage and
40p tax rate to kick in at £50,000*
Daily Mail [UK], by Matt Chorley    Original Article

David Cameron today put two major tax cuts at the heart of his bid for re-election, promising to dramatically raise both the amount workers earn before paying income tax and before being dragged into the higher 40p rate. [Snip] And to huge cheers in the auditorium, he announced the point at which the 40p tax rate is levied will rise from around £42,000 to £50,000--a huge boost for middle class families. Mr Cameron declared ´I love this country´ as he pleaded for another five years in Downing Street to ´finish the job´ of turning the country around.

Ministry of Defence contracts
secure 7,500 naval base jobs
Telegraph [UK], by Ben Marlow    Original Article

The government has awarded £3.2bn of contracts to maintain the Royal Navy’s warships and submarines at the Clyde, Devonport and Portsmouth naval bases, in a move that secures 7,500 jobs. [Snip] The new government contracts will secure around up to 4,000 posts at Devonport, more than 2,000 at Portsmouth and a further 1,500 jobs at Faslane on the Clyde. The contracts come amid huge uncertainty for Britain’s shipyards after BAE announced last year it was ending shipbuilding at Portsmouth with the loss of 900 jobs and cutting a further 800 across Scotland. The announcement was a big blow to Portsmouth,

First Ebola victim in America
was sent home with antibiotics
Telegraph [UK], by Nick Allen*    Original Article

The first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in America was initially sent home with antibiotics after doctors failed to recognise the symptoms of the deadly disease. A desperate search has now been launched to find other people in Dallas, Texas who the man could have infected. [Snip] He is now critically ill and in isolation at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. The ambulance vehicle used to transport him has been quarantined. Three paramedics who were sent to get him are being kept isolated at their homes and will be monitored for three weeks, the incubation period of Ebola, to see if they

Kim Jong-un ´so fat he
has fractured his ankles´
Telegraph [UK], by Colin Freeman    Original Article

Kim Jong-un, the North Korean dictator, has become so fat while in office that his ankles have fractured under his own weight, it was reported on Tuesday. The 31-year-old, who has looked increasingly portly since taking power, had to undergo a hospital operation after putting too much strain on his ankles during a gruelling round of official engagements. [Snip] Unlike other members of North Korea´s political elite, for whom a sudden absence from public life often means they have been killed or imprisoned, in Kim Jong-un´s case it is said to be down to Elvis-style weight gain as a result

Prime Minister Will Ask Obama:
Don´t Cooperate with Iran on ISIS

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will meet in Washington Wednesday with US President Barack Obama--in their first meeting in seven months. Netanyahu will talk to Obama about the current tensions between Israel the Palestinian Authority, and is also expected to ask Obama not to cooperate with Iran as part of the campaign against the Islamic State (aka ISIS), reports IDF Radio. Iran is ready to work with the United States and its allies to stop Islamic State terrorists, but would like to see more flexibility on Iran’s uranium enrichment program, senior Iranian officials told Reuters. Netanyahu arrived in the United States Monday

What You Need to

The current outbreak of Ebola virus in Dallas has people all over the United States panicked about the possibility of Ebola coming to their hometown. [Snip] The CDC lists the following symptoms, which generally appear within 8 to 10 days after exposure to Ebola: Fever of above 101.5°F; Severe headache; Muscle pain; Weakness; Diarrhea; Vomiting; Abdominal pain; Unexplained hemorrhage (bleeding or bruising). Treatment. If you come down with these symptoms, go to a hospital immediately. There is no antibiotic treatment or vaccine for Ebola virus; essentially, your immune system is the only defense against Ebola virus.

Federal health officials on Tuesday confirmed the first case of Ebola diagnosed in the U.S., a male patient who recently traveled from Liberia to Dallas and a sign of the far-reaching impact of the out-of-control epidemic in West Africa. The unidentified patient was critically ill and has been in isolation at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital since Sunday, officials said. Health authorities have begun tracking down family and friends who may have had close contact with the patient and could be at risk for becoming ill. But officials said there are no other suspected cases in Texas.

Mass default looms as world

Telegraph [UK], by Jeremy Warner    Original Article

As if the fast degenerating geo-political situation isn’t bad enough, here’s another lorry load of concerns to add to the pile. The UK and US economies may be on the mend at last, but that’s not the pattern elsewhere. On a global level, growth is being steadily drowned under a rising tide of debt, threatening renewed financial crisis, a continued squeeze to living standards, and eventual mass default. [Snip] The raw numbers make explosive reading. Contrary to widely held assumptions, the world has not yet begun to de-lever. In fact global debt-to-GDP--public and private non financial debt--is still growing, breaking

12.00 Boris is cheering up delegates: asking whether there are any ´kippers in the audience and saying that Ed Miliband´s "surreal" speech has put victory in the Tories´ grasp. "The subconscious rebelled. The baggage handlers in his memory went on strike and refused to load the word deficit onto the conveyor belt of his tongue," says Boris. Modestly, the Mayor says he is a merely a "municipal toenail", and decries the "Londonophobia" seen in the Scottish independence referendum. Secret Service officers

The break-in at the White House makes the US Secret Service look terrible. It also sheds light on an agency that operates largely behind the scenes. [Snip] On Friday, a man later identified as Iraq War veteran Omar Gonzalez climbed a fence, ran more than 60m (197ft) and made it through the North Portico door. One former Secret Service officer who asked not to be identified ("I´m a private person," he says) is as puzzled as anyone about his former colleagues--and "how hapless they seemed". He says he´s spent "many hours" standing at the North Portico door. He wonders how Gonzalez made it
