A Canadian imam known for his pacifist sermons has warned that Islamist militant group IS was actively recruiting in Canada and said one member issued him a death threat. Syed Soharwardy, founder of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada (ISCC), called on Canadian and Western authorities to intensify the fight against jihadist movements. "Absolutely I am convinced that this recruitment is going on right here in this country, under our noses, in our universities, in our colleges, in the places of worship, in our community," he told CBC public television. Comments:
Something to contemplate as summer ends and all those large gatherings at football games begin. Unless we can jump-start 0bama to reverse the drawdown of out troops, we are very vulnerable. His constant "warning´ IS of his plans of the Pentagon´s possible plans of attack are criminal. Israel may use the knock before missile attack because of know human shields, but the IS is a whole different must be killed outright without remorse enemy. They are coming for US.

When weren´t they recruiting ?

How many jailhouse converts ?
How many young women are brought into the fold and converted ?
How many naive kids trying to find themselves because they don´t have religion at home ?

I know one who says the BF isn´t like the old country. Yeah huh, still praying five times a day? Grandma still in her get up ?

After weeks of heavy criticism and calls for his ouster, the police chief of Ferguson, Missouri, issued a video apology on Thursday to the parents of Michael Brown, the black teenager shot to death by a white police officer last month. "I want to say this to the Brown family. No one who has not experienced the loss of a child can understand what you are feeling," Chief Tom Jackson said in the video. "I am truly sorry for the loss of your son." Jackson spoke directly into a camera and read from a script in the video, which was released by a public relations firm hired by the city. He addressed Brown's parents, as well as people

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, whom the Obama administration has considered enlisting in the fight against the Islamic State, blamed the growing threat of the jihadist group on the West’s involvement in the Middle East. During his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, Rouhani said, “Today’s anti-Westernism is the offspring of yesterday’s colonialism; today’s anti-Westernism is a reaction to yesterday’s racism,” according to a live translation. “Certain intelligence agencies have put blades in the hands of madmen who now spare no one.” “All those who have played a role in founding and

New York - Iraq´s prime minister says his country´s intelligence operation has uncovered a plot for an imminent attack on subway systems in United States and Paris. Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said he was told of the plot by Baghdad on Thursday, and that it was the work of foreign fighters of the Islamic State group in Iraq. Asked if the attack was imminent, he said, "Yes." Asked if the attack had been thwarted, he said, "No." Al-Abadi said the United States had been alerted. The Los Angeles City Council voted Wednesday to raise the minimum wage for hotel workers to $15.37, one of the highest wage requirements in the country. Hotel workers in yellow shirts packed City Hall as the council voted 12 to 3 to approve the measure, which will go into effect for hotels with at least 300 rooms beginning in July. Hotels with 150 rooms or more will have to meet the wage requirement a year later. “Hotel workers are here because they want family-supporting wages,” said Maria Elena Durazo, executive secretary-treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, during the public

Somali pirates who abducted a journalist and held him for ransom claim they were paid a $1.6m (£1m) to release him. Michael Scott Moore was released on Tuesday after being held captive for two years and eight months. He holds both German and American citizenship. According to a pirate leader, identified as Bile Hussein, negotiations were conducted with Somali intermediaries acting on behalf of Germany. A German spokesman would not confirm that money was paid and US policy prohibits paying ransoms. German federal police had worked "very closely" with US authorities to win Moore´s freedom.

President Barack Obama favorably quoted and praised on Wednesday in his speech before the United Nations a controversial Muslim cleric whose organization has reportedly endorsed the terror group Hamas and supported a fatwa condoning the murder of U.S. soldiers in Iraq. Obama in his remarks offered praise to controversial cleric Sheikh Abdallah Bin Bayyah and referred to him as a moderate Muslim leader who can help combat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’s (ISIL or ISIS) radical ideology. However, Bin Bayyah himself has long been engulfed in controversy for many of his views, including the reported backing of

With the expansion of the U.S.-led military campaign against Islamic State and al Qaeda-linked Khorasan in Syria, the Obama administration has come out with a more detailed explanation of the legal basis for the airstrikes. Legal scholars are taking stab at untangling the strands of legal arguments articulated in the administration’s letters to Congress and the United Nations sent out Tuesday. Justifying the military effort under domestic and international law, the White House is pointing to Congress’s 2001 authorization to fight al Qaeda, its 2002 authorization of force in Iraq, international legal theory, and the president’s

Charitable commitments have been made. Important topics like Ebola and elephant poaching have been discussed. World leaders from President Obama to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan have convened. But, for me, perhaps the person who stands out is the friendly 20-something press aide who the Clinton Global Initiative tasked with escorting me to the restroom. She waited outside the stall in the ladies’ room at the Sheraton Hotel, where the conference is held each year. Security, foundation aides told me, dictates that the hordes of journalists, many of them from overseas news outlets, be cloistered in a basement at the

The Republican Party’s top leader in Congress is catching flak for a comment that appears to call the jobless lazy – a comment that has rekindled an old challenge for the party: appearing insensitive or uncaring toward Americans who are poor or in financial difficulty. House Speaker John Boehner was asked after a speech last week to comment on a plan for addressing poverty – promoted by a Republican colleague, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. Speaker Boehner gave a response that was favorable toward Representative Ryan´s plan, but not so favorable about Americans’ work ethic.

White House aides posted the sloppy salute video on Instagram. President Barack Obama saluted a pair of United States Marines on Tuesday while holding what appeared to be a styrofoam cup in his saluting hand, a breach of military regulations that won´t win him fans among veterans and servicemen. Obama is known for drinking tea, not coffee, when he travels, especially before delivering speeches. His quasi-saluting gesture was an instant embarrassment for the White House, and not because his environmentally taboo drinkware clashed with the green-policy speech he was on his way to deliver at a UN Climate Summit. On Tuesday, shortly after announcing to the American public that the United States was now bombing ISIS in Syria, the President of the United States flew to New York to address the United Nations – on climate change. His speech mixed high-flown sentiment with apologies for America, and pledged American sacrifice in the name of a lofty goal without evidence that such sacrifice would in any way contribute to attaining that goal. In other words, it was a typical Barack Obama whirligig. Even as American warplanes struck targets in Syria, even as regimes tottered in Jordan and Iraq and Yemen,

President Obama on Wednesday delivered a speech at the United Nations filled with his usual soaring rhetoric of global collectivism and the importance of “international norms.” But the president also displayed a shocking naivete about global affairs, religion, Islam — a Pollyannaish interpretation on the state of the world and America’s role in it. Although Mr. Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize just eight months into office, the president made his annual trip to the ineffectual world council to deliver a call to war. “Ladies and gentlemen, we come together at a crossroads between war and peace,

So this video of The View’s women grappling with the Obama administration’s response to ISIS terrorism is noteworthy. I want to highlight O’Donnell’s contribution near the end: We are bombing Syria because Syria has so much oil, so there is a “financial incentive.” What the Hell is this supposed to mean? Why are liberals obsessed with oil? And what, exactly, is the “financial incentive?” Here is the

Standing alongside her mother, Hillary Clinton, at the Clinton Global Initiative this afternoon, the very-pregnant former first daughter warned the plight of African elephants, killed for their ivory tusks, is an “existential” one, and said that if the current poaching rates continue, elephants could be few and far between within the next decade.
