Pentagon says Chinese Jet Carried

Washington Free Beacon, by Bill Gertz

The Pentagon on Friday called a Chinese jet’s encounter with a U.S. anti-submarine warfare aircraft an “aggressive” and “dangerous” act and said it has protested the action with Beijing. Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby told reporters that the incident took place Tuesday in international airspace. “We have registered our strong concerns to the Chinese about the unsafe and unprofessional intercept, which posed a risk to the safety and the well-being of the air crew and was inconsistent with customary international law,” Kirby said, adding that the incident was “very, very close, very dangerous.” “Also—and we’ve made this clear—that it undermines efforts

I guess the Chinese have already forgotten April 2001 when one of their fighters was showing off near a US Navy EP-3 and collided with the Navy jet. The pilot of the Chinese fighter was killed when his jet went out of control into the sea.

Well if the Obama crew along with the Admirals and Generals OK surveillance missions that essentially hang those military long range electronic warfare aircraft out on a string with no defensive protection near the China coast, it is only a matter of time until the Chinese cuts that string as they have done in the past.

#4 refers to the Hainan Island incident. The planes crashed, and the EP-3 landed on on the island in the South China Sea. The Chinese interrogated and held the 24 US crew members as "guests" for 10 days, released only after the US government issued an apology. The Chinese kept our aircraft for 3 months, and returned it to us in parts, no doubt gleaning all they could about our capabilities.

Full-bore foreign policy failure for the USA, invaluable information taken by the Chinese at minimal cost to them. Why wouldn´t they risk the same again?

President Obama this week committed professional suicide. Let me explain. There is a theory in politics that once a leader has fired 50 or more people from his or her administration, he or she is finished. The reason being that by creating so many enemies ‘outside the tent’, the tent itself becomes too deluged with poisonous bile to avoid sinking into a quagmire of back-stabbing ignominy. Obama went a lot further than firing 50 people. He managed to single-handedly alienate 200,000 employees in the American intelligence agencies by going on 60 Minutes and ruthlessly chucking them all under a bus

With President Obama blaming his intelligence functionaries for his failure to anticipate the swift advances of ISIS in Syria and Iraq, the intelligence community has responded in stories such as the Baker/Schmitt round-up yesterday in the New York Times (discussed by Paul here). I think the fault for the ongoing catastrophes in Syria and Iraq lie with Obama’s worldview and his related action (and inaction). Nevertheless, in the context of Obama’s buck-passing, the Government Accountability Institute’s tracking of Obama’s attendance at his Presidential Daily Briefs takes on a heightened interest.
