Obliterate the Islamic State now
McClatchy-Tribune News Service, by Whitt Flora

President Barack Obama is now reaping the whirlwind for his feckless and sometimes politically motivated strategy of leading from behind in the Mideast, North Africa and Eastern Europe. The good news is that his decision to use U.S. air power to protect the Yazidi people from death and torture by Islamic State fanatics has allowed Kurdish and Iraqi soldiers to recapture the critical Mosul Dam and sent the Islamist terrorists reeling backward. Yet the president in a recent press conference reiterated his vow that air strikes are part of a “limited action” and that no U.S. combat troops will be

Obama isn´t going to do that. ISIS is the spawn of al Qaeda is the spawn of the Muslim Brotherhood and Obama has been backing them or removing obstructions for them all the way across the Middle East. He has to try to save the Kurds and Christians/Yazidis or appear indifferent to the fate of obvious allies and innocents but he´s doing that without truly harming ISIS. My prediction, he´ll continue that weak effort while his people prepare us for the inevitability of ISIS taking over Iraq and setting up a caliphate by touting their invincibility. Wait for it . . . hey we told you they were bad.

I´m one hundred percent with Lt. Col Peters. These people are little more than 5th century sub-human animals and should be, for the safety on the world, exterminated.

Ryder Cup 2014: Rookies lead
U.S. early, but Europe rallies

GLENEAGLES, Scotland — Long on energy and short on battle scars, is there a better combination for an afternoon Ryder Cup foursomes match on a hilly course? Tom Watson, the American captain, thought so. He sat the rookies Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed, who had won their first match in a rout, and played the unbeaten team of Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley. His decision produced results only second-guessers and the Europeans could love. In Friday morning’s four-ball session, Spieth, 21, and Reed, 24, handed the European talisman Ian Poulter his first Ryder Cup defeat in his past eight matches.

TAMPA — The driver of a stolen Hillsborough County Fire Rescue pickup who caused a seven-vehicle crash on Interstate 275 on Wednesday afternoon was on a suicide mission and planned to drive against traffic on the interstate to kill himself and others, the Tampa Police Department said. John Edgerton told police after he was arrested that he wanted to drive off the interstate´s exit ramps in the stolen truck but wasn´t able to because Tampa officers and Hillsborough County Sheriff´s deputies had blocked the ramps, said Laura McElroy, a Tampa police spokeswoman. “(His plan was to) kill himself and to

Top chefs, grocers choose farmed salmon

Farmed salmon is becoming the surprise darling of top chefs and food-loving home cooks. The pink fatty fish has long been dismissed as environmentally harmful, chemical-laden or simply not that tasty by many fish lovers. Now farmed salmon producers are courting high-end chefs and improving some aspect of how they farm to win over naysayers. Restaurants from Red Lobster to New York´s revered Le Bernardin say they must have some version of salmon on menus. "It´s the chicken of the sea," says Eric Ripert, co-owner and executive chef at Le Bernardin where a prix fixe seafood dinner is $135 a

Eric Holder has suddenly announced his retirement, declaring it was time to rebuild trust between police and minorities. (Snip) Ferguson is more than a small town. It is now a political bomb shelter. Both Holder and Obama are running for cover in the only place they know how to hide. For a storm is now fairly upon them. The new Iraqi prime minister announced the existence of an ISIS plot to attack subways in New York, London and Paris. Foreign Policy writes that “a bad moon is rising”. David Rothkopf says that behind the presidents confident words at UN the

The Center for American Progress notes without embarrassment that in an age where stuff made by the greedy people has gotten cheap, the services provided by the well-intentioned are driving everyone to the poorhouse. (Snip) Since the consumer doesn’t directly pay the hospital, only the vast insurance system, most transactions are between huge impersonal medical centers and equally cyclopean insurance companies. The patient is just the pretext for the transaction, the name on the document. That allows hospital billing departments to charge astronomical amounts from eyeless bureaucracies for something that would be radically cheaper even at the hospital across the

In the year 1942, on the tropical island of Guadalcanal, two Marines independently created the most enduring superhero image of their generation. John Basilone and Mitchell Paige both won the Medal of Honor in the same spectacular fashion, by firing water-cooled Browning machine guns from the hip, mowing down their enemies by the dozen. Other men, like attack pilots and certainly submarine captains, might have dispatched more of the enemy, but none in so cinematic as manner of these two men, who wreathed in steam and gunsmoke, stood like Achilles astride the battlefield, possessed by an almost supernatural force so

Is it “kinetic military action”? Is it an “extended counterterrorism operation”? Is it war? Nah. Never war. (Snip) “War” would mean that America was actually out to win against ISIS/ISIL/ISI?. So far only ISIS has announced the intention of beating America. America just wants to manage ISIS/ISIL/ISI?. A bombing doesn’t make a war any more than Pearl Harbor did. And like Bluto said, ‘was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?’ No way. It ain’t over. It ain’t even war. The only ‘war’ the world today is the War Against Ebola and the world is losing that.

Back in the 1930s intellectuals sometimes advised each other: don’t give to beggars, you’ll delay the revolution. Socialism has been described as a method of loving humanity so that you can be indifferent to your actual neighbor. (Snip) One of the most interesting aspects of the now-famous confrontation between Robert F Kennedy Jr and PJTV’s Michelle Fields is his argument that you can be a conservationist without being one. Glenn Greenwald tries to solve a mystery. Why does the Muslim world hate Obama? (Snip) Obama’s popularity with Muslims in America can easily be explained by the fact that his mistakes haven’t affected them yet. Once American Sunni mosques are bombed by Shi’ites or vice versa, expect Obama’s popularity to drop. For once things come down to Muslim vs Muslim, as is happening elsewhere, it is the non-Muslim who they might rather have in charge. When Obama stopped being an outsider and became one of the tribesmen then he became part of the problem, not the unifying, attractive figure Andrew

ST. PETERSBURG — The Pinellas County School District has purchased 28 M16 rifles for its internal police department, according to Law Enforcement Support Office documents. The guns aren’t currently in use, but school police officers will begin training to use and store the weapons, school district spokeswoman Melanie Marquez Parra said. “Our hope is that our officers never have to use this equipment,” Parra said. The rifles, which cost $499 each, give school officers access to “comparable equipment” as other law enforcement agencies strictly for “worst case scenarios,” like an active shooter on campus, Parra said. So this video of The View’s women grappling with the Obama administration’s response to ISIS terrorism is noteworthy. I want to highlight O’Donnell’s contribution near the end: We are bombing Syria because Syria has so much oil, so there is a “financial incentive.” What the Hell is this supposed to mean? Why are liberals obsessed with oil? And what, exactly, is the “financial incentive?” Here is the

Eric Holder Jr., the nation´s first black U.S. attorney general, is preparing to announce his resignation Thursday after a tumultuous tenure marked by civil rights advances, national security threats, reforms to the criminal justice system and five and a half years of fights with Republicans in Congress. Two sources familiar with the decision tell NPR that Holder, 63, intends to leave the Justice Department as soon as his successor is confirmed, a process that could run through 2014 and even into next year. A former U.S. government official says Holder has been increasingly "adamant" about his desire to leave soon

President Obama on Wednesday delivered a speech at the United Nations filled with his usual soaring rhetoric of global collectivism and the importance of “international norms.” But the president also displayed a shocking naivete about global affairs, religion, Islam — a Pollyannaish interpretation on the state of the world and America’s role in it. Although Mr. Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize just eight months into office, the president made his annual trip to the ineffectual world council to deliver a call to war. “Ladies and gentlemen, we come together at a crossroads between war and peace,

Normally, no one would care that in a recent Atlantic essay — “Why I Hope to Die at 75” — 57-year-old Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel argued that living to be 75 years old was long enough for anyone. After 75, Emanuel suggests, “We are no longer remembered as vibrant and engaged but as feeble, ineffectual, even pathetic.” But Emanuel is no garden-variety crackpot. Nor is he a wannabe science-fiction writer dreaming of a centrally planned planet of robust youthful humanoids. Even though Republicans may take back the Senate by running against amnesty, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush pushed amnesty legislation while stumping for North Carolina Republican Senate candidate Thom Tillis on Wednesday. Bush, according to the New York Times, reportedly said that comprehensive immigration reform "will restore and sustain economic growth for this country." And even though a recent Gallup poll found that illegal immigration is now the top concern among Republicans, Bush said that if immigration reform is "framed in that way, I don’t think there’s a big debate in the Republican Party about the need to do this."

With the mid-term elections weeks away, many conservatives are confronting a difficult choice. Assuming there are no solid conservatives on the ballot, do we vote for establishment candidates? Hotels with 150 rooms or more will have to meet the wage requirement a year later. “Hotel workers are here because they want family-supporting wages,” said Maria Elena Durazo, executive secretary-treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, during the public

Of all the malfeasances of William Jefferson Clinton the one that would have most justified a removal from office was not the Monica hijinks, even with the attendant lying under oath and absurd parsings of the word “is,” but the pardoning of Marc Rich — the billionaire international commodities trader and mammoth contributor to, er, Clinton.
