Obliterate the Islamic State now
McClatchy-Tribune News Service, by Whitt Flora

President Barack Obama is now reaping the whirlwind for his feckless and sometimes politically motivated strategy of leading from behind in the Mideast, North Africa and Eastern Europe. The good news is that his decision to use U.S. air power to protect the Yazidi people from death and torture by Islamic State fanatics has allowed Kurdish and Iraqi soldiers to recapture the critical Mosul Dam and sent the Islamist terrorists reeling backward. Yet the president in a recent press conference reiterated his vow that air strikes are part of a “limited action” and that no U.S. combat troops will be

Obama isn´t going to do that. ISIS is the spawn of al Qaeda is the spawn of the Muslim Brotherhood and Obama has been backing them or removing obstructions for them all the way across the Middle East. He has to try to save the Kurds and Christians/Yazidis or appear indifferent to the fate of obvious allies and innocents but he´s doing that without truly harming ISIS. My prediction, he´ll continue that weak effort while his people prepare us for the inevitability of ISIS taking over Iraq and setting up a caliphate by touting their invincibility. Wait for it . . . hey we told you they were bad.

I´m one hundred percent with Lt. Col Peters. These people are little more than 5th century sub-human animals and should be, for the safety on the world, exterminated.

Eden’s greatest attraction is that it was a time before guilt; before hatred, greed and lust took over the world. (Snip) And if our ancestors killed the Neanderthals, then war — and genocide — goes back at least 45,000 years. The interesting thing about this narrative is it suggests that many of the conquerors were conquered in turn. Or as Glenn Reynolds puts it, what if “‘First Peoples’ were actually just the last people to wipe out whoever was there before”? The real honor, apparently belongs not to the First, but to the Last peoples. Thank Gaia we’re the last!

Kamla Negi, a 56-year-old rice farmer and grandmother from a small village in northern India, fought a battle to the death with a wild leopard—and won. She was walking home Sunday when the big cat leapt at her on a quiet path in her village in India’s hilly state of Uttarakhand. “It pounced on me suddenly from the front,” Ms. Negi told The Wall Street Journal in a telephone interview from her bed in an Uttarkhand hospital, where she is recuperating from her ordeal. “Its claws and teeth were on my throat. I could hear it breathing.” Luckily she was

2014 will be a year when the populations of the world began to wake up and smell the smoke. (Snip) But it may be no dream. David Cameron just warned Britain to brace for a possible ISIS attack on its shores. The jayvee ISIS team Obama scoffed at sure gets around. Cameron says ISIS ‘is more dangerous than al-Qaeda’. The doorman the president contemptuously glowered over at the summits is acting uppity too. That doorman, Vladimir Putin, has just used the “N” word in Ukraine. The “N” word being “Nuclear”.

Do not be fooled by Hillary Clinton’s attempt to rehabilitate her term as Secretary of State ahead of the 2016 presidential election. From 2009 to 2013, Clinton embodied U.S. foreign affairs even as President Obama’s avowed policy of self-effacement descended into listless, desultory abdication. Notwithstanding her recent critiques of Obama’s performance, Clinton’s failures as Secretary of State helped bring war to Europe, an arms race to Asia, and inferno to the Middle-East. The U.S. and its international standing are weaker for Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State. Clinton’s mistakes began early, with her contribution to the misconceived and poorly executed

The president has just held a press conference announcing he will do nothing much to counter the crises unfolding in the Ukraine and Syria. The New York Times reports: ’Obama Urges Calm in Face of Two Crises’. (Snip) The sanctions of course, have done nothing to stop Russia so far. It will now take a frightening amount of either military or economic pressure to rein in the Bear. So what’s the president going to do? The only thing he can do: keep going down the road he started. Obama’s time to stand came a long time ago and it’s receding

The late Leo Strauss (1889-1973) was a thinker sufficiently nuanced to allow a wide range of interpretation of his views, and a teacher broad-ranging enough to influence students with divergent interests. (Snip) Not since the late Roman Empire has the problem of willful self-destruction been so relevant to contemporary events. The whole of the industrial world excepting Israel is failing to reproduce itself, and great swaths of Europe and East Asia face demographic ruin at the hundred-year horizon. The civilized world, moreover, confronts mass suicide cults in the Islamic world happy to destroy themselves if only they can take the

The town authorities apparently knew as did the police, but they suppressed the facts out of the fear of being called ‘racist’ and more probably, the physical menaces of these ‘Asians’. Perhaps it is only syntactic sugar, but this statement advocating eventual co-existence with Israel from the Saudi Foreign Minister is worth noting. Recently, several liberal professors visited Gov. Rick Scott to brief him on the “closed” science of global warming. Never mind that many scientists will tell you that science is never closed or settled. These professors — like many in the media, academia and in Hollywood — will continue to scream the sky is falling until they force more polluters out of business and cause the loss of more American jobs. The big news in Europe is the dissolution of the French government as various left-wing government factions try to blame each other for the abysmal condition of their economy. ‘French economy going nowhere: now on track for nine straight months of zero growth’, writes the Telegraph. The problem, says Hollande’s critics, is that he isn’t socialist enough. “Two senior left-wing French cabinet ministers have broken ranks with the President, François Hollande, and demanded that Paris abandon the ‘forced march’ of public-spending cuts in Europe.” They warned that unless France did something drastic, like spend more government money, things would fall

The administration’s abrupt transition from complacency to near panic on the rise of ISIS recalls Donald Rumsfeld’s famous dictum. But before the dictum, first the panic. (Snip) President Obama’s earlier dismissal of ISIS in January falls into a much more serious category. In an interview with David Remnick of the New Yorker, he boasted that there were now no significant threats worth considering. Al Qaeda had been ‘decimated’ . When Remnick challenged that claim, pointing out that the Black Flag was flying over Fallujah, the president famously waved it off. During the Great Depression, the Communist scribes at the Daily Worker were forever assuring the more skeptical among their colleagues that the heroic spark was near. Having read about a “small riot somewhere in rural Minnesota,” Whittaker Chambers recorded in Witness, Robert Minor started shouting about “the beginning of the American revolution.” If the paper wished to capitalize upon dissatisfaction and spin it into insurrection and change, Minor proposed, it would need the staff to keep an eye out for the tell-tale sign and, then, to “play it up big.” Over the past month, the events in Ferguson, Mo., have played

Watching the events unfold in Ferguson, Missouri, I can’t help thinking about the Holocaust and post-war Germany. As the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, I’ve spent years watching Germany wrestle with its dark past. It’s just one of many places that have made efforts to understand and compensate for a difficult history: For nearly three decades, countries as varied as South Africa, Rwanda, and the nations of Latin America and post-Communist Eastern Europe have been engaged in this process, often called “transitional justice.” That’s a broad term for the ways in which societies deal with the legacies of past injustice.

It will take two decades to rebuild the thousands of houses destroyed during Israel’s assault on Gaza, according to a recent NGO report. At least 17,000 homes were obliterated or severely damaged during the conflict, with thousands more needing substantial repairs, according to an assessment by Shelter Cluster. More than 2,100 Palestinians, most of them civilians, were killed during the conflict. In addition 71 Israelis were killed – all but six of them soldiers. But the report on Gaza’s housing stock indicates inhabitants of the densely populated strip will face a severe infrastructural burden over the coming years.
