1,461 Days of Summer
Washington Free Beacon, by Matthew Continetti

Original Article

The headline was brutal. “Bam’s Golf War: Prez tees off as Foley’s parents grieve,” read the cover of Thursday’s New York Daily News. Obama’s gaffe was this: He had denounced the beheading of James Foley from a vacation spot in Martha’s Vineyard, then went to the golf course. Seems like he had a great time. Such a great time that he returned to the Farm Neck Golf Club—sorry, membership is full—the next day. Technically, Obama’s vacation began on August 9. It is scheduled to end on Sunday, August 24. With the exception of a two-day interlude in D.C., it has been

In case Continetti didn´t hear the actual broadcast, Obama called the beheaded journalist by the name ´´Jim´´ as if Obama knew him personally, which he DID NOT.

If, as suspected, he began the job to demean the office of the president, he has succeeded beyond all expectations.

All were wondering why the president would be returning to DC for a brief interlude; it was to bring one daughter home and pick up the other daughter. No expense is too much for the American tax payer don´t you know.

I like where Continetti questions just what IS the work BO is doing while he plays and parties?

Presidents are "always" working, so they say. But can this one really "multi-task"? Maybe if he´s walking the dog and talking with Val-Jar.

He doesn´t start the work day early in the morning like President Bush did.

BO behaves as if the mere force of his persona is enough for the world. The sycophants surrounding him and in the media feed that ego beast, or beastly ego.

It seems that Dempsey and Hagel were saying yesterday that they are really worried about the spreading ISIL horror. Perhaps I missed it, but I did not hear them say that they are in constant communication with The President.

The Pentagon had better rescind all those pink slips they´ve been sending out to our guys.

They´d better call for sealing the border here at home. NOW.

Leave BO on the Island.

Obama´s mission is accomplished. He has defanged the evil United States Giant given enemies an open door to enter, ruined the economy, killed and taxed energy companies then set race relations back to post Civil War times.
Nothing left to do but shank a few on the golf course until a proper communist replacement is found.

Gawd, what an endless litany of the horrors of this man´s persona.

Criticizing the president the other day, Joe Scarborough nonetheless conceded, “Presidents are always working, whether on a golf course or behind a desk.”...What, exactly, does President Obama do? He seems to learn everything from the papers...International events routinely take him by surprise.

Can we safely say he is not faithfully executing the duties of the presidency? He isn´t executing anything except our Constitution.

But there is no passion behind these [official] activities, no restless energy, no managerial competence, no sense of purpose or mission or strategy, none of the qualities associated with leadership in business, politics, and culture.

Could that be because too many American voters really believed he was a leader despite his utterly blank leadership canvas?

Donors complain the president does not schmooze, or even have much interest in what they are doing or thinking.

The mark of a true narcissist or worse, a malignant narcissist, is that he doesn´t want to hear about you. He wants you to hear about him, to worship him, to admire him. What you have to say is annoying. You must listen to him.

We have all met such people at parties or other gatherings: They ask how you are or they will ask you where you are from. Your answer is nothing more than an opportunity for them to start talking about themselves, which they will do until you spot your spouse across the room who needs a drink from you.

Relating to someone like Obama is like talking to the family dog: He hears but doesn´t understand. It´s all tonal and body language. The moment your tone or body language looks better than Obama´s, you are history.

That is why O´s "isolation" gets worse; people don´t like him and are finding out he is an empty chair. His surrogates, however, are not and it is they who are doing the work Obama avoids.

Have you noticed that Obama and others in his administration use the term ISIL. The media uses the term ISIS. They even type ISIS on the text under the interview in which the administration is saying, "ISIL".

As I understand it, the difference is largely a matter of how lofty their goals are in the Middle East. ISIS refers to their desire to dominate in Iraq and Syria. ISIL refers to the same group wanting an islamic caliphate in the entire region they want to dominate, which includes Israel, Jordan....

So why would the administration want to feed their egos and aspirations?

Four teachings from Jesus

It was once said, “religion is designed to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable.” Jesus’ parables – short stories with moral lessons – were likewise designed to afflict, to draw us in but leave us uncomfortable. These teachings can be read as being about divine love and salvation, sure. But, their first listeners – first century Jews in Galilee and Judea – heard much more challenging messages. Only when we hear the parables as Jesus’ own audience did can we fully experience their power and find ourselves surprised and challenged today. Here are four examples of Jesus’ teachings that everybody gets wrong: 1.

The whole point of setting the border between Mexico and the United States at the deepest channel of the Rio Grande was that the river was not supposed to move. That was the thinking in 1848, when, following Mexico’s defeat by the United States and surrender of its vast northern lands, boundary surveyors from the two countries were tasked with reinventing the border. The choice of the river for the boundary’s eastern half had been obvious: its use as a territorial marker stretched back into the region’s Spanish colonial past, and it was hard to miss and often difficult to

The quote comes from The Roosevelts, the new Ken Burns documentary that PBS airs this month. The last few weeks of public polling have offered contradictory and surprising results, like surveys showing the Democratic Senate candidate in Colorado either up by six percentage points or down by eight. Nonetheless, the polls have clarified the fight for the Senate. Three and a half months have come and gone and the Pentagon has offered no clarity on what happened to alleged Army deserter and Taliban collaborator Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Fellow soldiers and other critics fear the military’s now-delayed investigation is shaping up to be a whitewash. The case has become a political powder keg for President Obama. Since he traded five imprisoned Taliban leaders for Bergdahl, the US Government Accountability Office has declared the swap illegal, and nearly two dozen House Democrats have joined Republicans in officially condemning the move for making “Americans less safe.”

The question that caused Ms. Rice to flee was a fairly simple one: whether or not the president has authorized the bombing of targets in Syria.
