New Ohio abortion rules
close decades-old clinic

Washington Times, by Cheryl Wetzstein

Supporters of a Cincinnati area clinic that is ending its surgical abortion services Friday say it is the latest victim of a political attack — and that Ohio is at risk of losing even more of its abortion clinics. A state law enacted in 2013 “seems like a deliberate Catch-22,” said lawyer Dorothea Langsham, who represents the Women´s Med Center of Cincinnati. Its Lebanon Road Surgery Center in Sharonville, Ohio, is expected to cease offering surgical abortions as of 4 p.m. Friday. The ambulatory surgical clinic had been operating for more than 30 years in the Cincinnati area and was

And how many babies didn´t make it during those 30 years? Using abortion clinics as a method of birth control is heartless. There are better ways. Use them.

Now, to close the Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic next to Christ Hospital!

The mantra of safe, legal, and rare always focused more on the legality than safety or rarity.

This law is focused on the safety and if those facilities cannot fulfill the requirements rarity will also occur.

The hospital agreement law acts like a Catch-22 for abortion clinics because private hospitals are often run by religiously affiliated organizations who won’t accept such agreements from abortion clinics, Ms. Langsham said Thursday.

Don´t whine about it. The Catch-22 is easily fixed ... spend some of the millions they are making from abortions and open their own "private" hospitals.

Or are they really not that concerned about the women ... just the money?

"Surgical procedures" were done there. That means cutting. The only cutting done there was the dismembering of children. Closing this slaughterhouse is not "politics", it is moral common sense.

The R-turned-D Navy man and ex-senator is contemplating a 2016 run. He might not beat Clinton, but he’d be one tough sparring partner. Democrats uneasy about a Hillary coronation may have help on the way from former Virginia Senator James Webb, who told an audience at the National Press Club on Tuesday that he is seriously considering running for president, that he wants “true fairness” in our society, and that he would give voice to those who´ve been left out and written off. His remarks sounded like a campaign speech delivered from a populist perspective, slightly right of center where Webb,

President Obama will expand a protected marine habitat to six times its current size, making it the largest aquatic area off limits to development in the world, the White House said Wednesday. Obama will officially sign a proclamation increasing the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument in the south-central Pacific Ocean on Thursday to 490,000 square miles. The White House said it would help revive overfished populations, such as tuna, and preserve coral reefs that support marine life. "Expanding the Monument will more fully protect the deep coral reefs, seamounts, and marine ecosystems unique to this part of the world, which are

The dynamic comedy duo of Key & Peele are back for season four of their hit Comedy Central show tonight, and they’re honoring the occasion as guest-editors of this week’s Entertainment Weekly. You’ll recall that Obama participated in a comedy bit with Zach Galifianakis earlier this year as part of a huge promotion to get people enrolled in Obamacare. GREENFORD, Ohio - Former Ohio Congressman, Jim Traficant remains hospitalized in critical condition following a farm accident in Green Township. According to a statement from Goshen Police, Traficant was found by a Mercer County man just before 8:00 p.m. Tuesday who had stopped to buy some equipment at the West South Range Road farm owned by Traficants daughter, Elizabeth. Authorities believe that Traficant had been pulling the 1948 Ford tractor into a barn, when he lost control of the tractor and struck a large steel blade. The tractor rolled over backwards onto Traficant, trapping him underneath.

Why Wisconsin won´t become Illinois

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, faces a difficult re-election in six weeks. Under normal circumstances, he would probably be coasting to victory. He just beat a recall attempt in 2012, Wisconsin´s economy is improving, and he put in place reforms that have already saved the state $3 billion. But of course, this is the issue. His now-famous union bargaining reforms of 2011 have incurred the wrath of America´s big labor unions, which are now eager to defeat him. But anyone who doubts the wisdom of Walker´s reforms — and the self-interested short-sightedness of the public union bosses — need only look

Anti-climate-change marchers took to the streets of Manhattan in the hundreds of thousands over the weekend to demand international action to fight global warming. The throng would’ve been better advised to parade in downtown Beijing, assuming the Politburo wouldn’t have called out the infantry. China is the locus of the alleged crime against the planet that is carbon emissions, yet the marchers staged their event in the United States, where prior to last year emissions had been declining (thanks, in part, to the natural-gas revolution, which oddly didn’t get much love from the climate marchers). China is responsible for 27 percent of carbon

Bill Clinton never stops. Last week while he and Hillary were in Iowa, Mr. Clinton continued his nonstop campaign to sell his unique take on his own accomplishments. This time it was Haiti. Politicians and their minions practice spinning the facts to fit their campaign and governing narratives, and when they leave office, many of them spend their retirement years making sure that as many people as possible buy into their version of history. They do it because, at the end of the day, it’s not what happened that’s as important as what people “think” happened while they were in office. Former

There is one thing they can do, however, to contribute to the recovery of American strength overseas, particularly if they take the Senate this fall. They can make it clear that they intend for the next president to have the military means at his disposal to meet whatever threats we face. Those capabilities are steadily and quickly eroding. Budget cuts will force the Army to further scale back training for units based in the United States, allowing only
