Why is the White House
playing politics with the
death of James Foley?

Telegraph [UK], by Rob Crilly

Why are White House officials and the Pentagon briefing on a failed raid to save James Foley, the journalist murdered by his fundamentalist captors in Syria? One downside is obvious. It is an admission of failure. [Snip] There is good reason why most special forces – including our SAS – keep operations secret. Now, the US has tipped of Isil that its special forces are already conducting operations in Syria. The element of surprise is diluted, if not lost altogether. And what about the hostages still being held? Several have been released in return for ransoms. Each one is now

Waste of time to ask.
Because they can, that´s why.
To these dudes, everything is political. Death, disease, disaster, defeat--it is all about the regime and the legacy.
There is no game in town but politics. Pity Foley wasn´t black, because then he would have been a real hero.
If it is politics, it is just words. No guns, no boots, no bombs. Just words.
And words are cheap. Especially from this regime, which spouts words as if they were the methane emanations from a cow.
Alas.
Journalists, take heed: no one will help you.

Anytime the White House puts out information on what should be highly classified special operations missions, they think that Obama will turn out to be a winner just by approving the mission.

If the mission succeeds Obama can take direct credit, and if the mission fails they can interject that Obama did his part, but that the special operations units carrying out the mission are the people responsible for the failure.

The White House can even control whether the mission succeeds or fails by slow walking the relating intelligence information until it becomes stale before they approve the mission. Just saying!

Our dilettante president does not want to defeat the jihadis; he couldn´t care less about Syria, Ukraine, Putin´s ambitions, the ambitions of China, or even the fact that one third of the country he rules is on some form of public assistance. However, I suspect that the world of the near future , which will be his legacy, will have no golf courses for him to run off to or maybe no place to run to at all.

Because they are too stupid to be anything BUT political.
An American has his head cut off and we´re told "this isn´t just an American problem"?
Turn our forces loose, order Special Ops to capture Isil members, cut off their testicles and send them to their leaders. Repeat until they retreat or are all dead. THIS is the language they understand.

I won´t give up--luckily I was raised while Churchill was still alive and my parents and everyone in the village just about worshipped old Winnie. ´Bout time for this rerun, eh?

Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

President Barack Obama is preparing to ask Congress to pay for a multibillion-dollar plan to expand the military campaign against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) militants, an unnamed administration official told the Wall Street Journal / Live Mint website. While the proposal hasn’t been made final and the total amount is still being calculated, it will likely be “in the billions of dollars,” reports the site, as Pentagon officials develop options for the president. Obama is scheduled to deliver a televised address to the nation at 9 p.m. Washington time on Wednesday to lay out his strategy to defeat the

US Secretary of State John Kerry has met the new Iraqi PM at the start of a Middle East tour to build support for action against Islamic State (IS). Haidar al-Abadi formed a unity government less than 48 hours ago. An inclusive government was a condition for greater US and Nato support in the fight against IS militants who have taken over large parts of the country. [Snip] He said on Tuesday that he had authority to widen military action against IS without the approval of Congress, but said he would still ask lawmakers to endorse the arming of Syrian opposition forces.

WASHINGTON--US President Barack Obama will tell the American people on Wednesday night that he plans to order strikes against Islamic State forces in both Syria and Iraq until the group is ultimately destroyed. The president´s plan includes additional support for opposition militias in Syria vetted by the United States, which will serve as a ground force complementing America´s air campaign. [Snip] The "comprehensive strategy," as described by one White House official, will involve "US military action and support for the forces combating ISIL [Islamic State] on the ground–both the opposition in Syria and a new, inclusive Iraqi government."

Israel on Wednesday hailed US efforts to form an alliance to fight jihadists in Syria and Iraq but raised concerns of a rapprochement between Washington and Israel´s arch-foe Iran. Liberman´s comments follow calls yesterday by Defense Minister Moshe Ya´alon for greater cooperation between global intelligence agencies to defeat IS.

Tonight, exactly one year after Barack Obama strode to a microphone in the East Room of the White House to make a prime-time televised address to the nation on "what to do about Syria", the US president is preparing once again to do…just that. Even by the tortured standards of Mr Obama, the 2013 address was a truly dismal affair in which the President could be heard arguing with himself over his own non-response to the Assad regime´s use of chemical weapons. The "Save Our NHS" slogan has nothing to do with Scottish independence. It is a trade union mantra.
