CHICAGO -- Antonio Smith, 9, was fatally shot in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, his family told Eyewitness News Wednesday night. The victim´s relatives made a plea to the shooter, who remains at large on Wednesday night. "He was just a child, just a baby, still had a whole life ahead of him. And like, why? Just a child," said Kenya Eggleston, victim´s cousin. Smith was shot multiple times in the chest around 4 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200-block of East 71st Street. "At first I didn´t know if they were really shots or not. I just heard pop, pop, pop, pop, pow.

And why aren´t they protesting outside of Rahm´s office every day in Chicago?

Oh wait, I forgot. Unless he was killed by a white person it just doesn´t matter.

The truly sad thing is...they don´t know who killed him. And, what´s worse, the assumption is -- that it was another black person -- and what´s even worse than that, is that is probably the case. The follow up story I read said that he left the house because he was mad that his mom wouldn´t let him have a cupcake after school. She was on her way home and he called her to ask (instead of just taking it and asking forgiveness later). When she denied his request, he took off in anger. Unbelievably tragic.

ATLANTA — Atlanta police now say a mother whose 3-year-old son shot himself in the face had three unsecured guns in the home, including an AK-47. The news that police said 22-year-old Angel Douglas had three guns in her home when her toddler found one and shot himself in the face caught some of Douglas´ northwest Atlanta neighbors by surprise. "Why so many guns? Why so many guns?" LaShandra Pope asked. Officers said Douglas had that AK-47, a 12-gauge shotgun and a handgun. "It´s not that serious to have that many guns around a child. Not that many to keep safe,"

UNTERFÖHRING, Germany — In nearly 30 years at Heckler & Koch, a legendary German gunmaker, Ernst Mauch designed some of the world’s most lethal weapons, including the one that reportedly killed Osama bin Laden. A state regulator once called him a “rock star” in the industry. Now the gun world sees him a different way: as a traitor. The target of their fury is the smart gun Mauch designed at Armatix, a start-up near Munich. The very concept of the weapon has been attacked by U.S. gun rights advocates even as it has helped Mauch resolve a sense of guilt that

First Lady Michelle Obama has made healthy eating and exercise her signature issue. But, a recent study published by the Sage Journal found that her “elitist” advice actually “shames poor and middle class mothers.” The College Fix added that the study found that Michelle Obama’s healthy eating program is also sexist. It’s also sexist, the study’s authors suggest, noting that “intentionally or not, it places the burden of a healthy home-cooked meal on women.” Sage Journals published the study by North Carolina researchers Sarah Bowen, Sinikka Elliott and Joslyn Brenton. Democrats are now (very slightly) favored to hold the Senate majority on Nov. 4, according to Election Lab, the Post´s statistical model of the 2014 midterm elections. Election Lab puts Democrats´ chances of retaining their majority at 51 percent -- a huge change from even a few months ago when the model predicted that Republicans had a better than 80 percent chance of winning the six seats they need to take control. Washington - The current threat posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, will test not only the resolve and strategic judgment of America and its allies, but also our nation’s fidelity to a basic constitutional principle. Our Constitution reserves to Congress the power to declare war and designates our president as the commander in chief, but our recent history has been characterized by executive overreach and legislative abdication in the initiation of military action. The current crisis gives us an opportunity to restore the proper balance between the branches. America’s history since 2001 should compel us to fix the way

Those pushing to have more states legalize marijuana consider this drug rather harmless, medically beneficial and liberal politicians consider this issue one that will attract voters. I don´t blame Rubio for not discussing whether he indulged n his youth or not. He is a public official with young children and carries a different responsibility than the rest of us.
