Palin goes 0 for 2 in Alaska as
clout disappears nationally

McClatchy Newspapers, by Sean Cockerham

WASHINGTON — Sarah Palin has lost the magic. The defeat of her choice Tuesday in a Republican Senate primary in her home state of Alaska capped a primary season in which her favored candidates have stumbled across the nation. A referendum to restore Palin’s signature achievement from her time as Alaska governor, a state tax on oil companies, was also headed toward defeat following Tuesday’s voting, dealing a double whammy loss to Palin in her home state and highlighting her declining influence. Only four of the 15 congressional candidates endorsed by Palin nationwide this year have won their primaries, a far worse

If those in charge don´t like how a vote turned out, they have been known to ´fix´ it. The voters (in AL)voted out a certain R woman a couple of years ago. The person running against her won. However, she ran as a ´write in´ and won. Thing is her name has lots of letters and is difficult to pronounce and the law states every write in had to be spelled correctly. So, my point is, those who won didn´t necessarily.

That´s certainly good news for the moderate/liberal republicans, and democrats, but bad news for America.

I have a busy day ahead of me, and I haven´t much time to ponder; however, I going to take the time to say the following:

The majority of humans in the world are stupid. The founding fathers knew this, and put measures in place to compensate for that. That´s why they put limit on whom could vote in the USA. Voters had to be land owners, and etc., and etc. They barred women from voting because they knew widows could become land owners, and there´s a higher percentage of stupid women than the percentage of stupid men.

Well, men wanting power talked the stupid people into changing all that, and the constitution was amended. Link all that to how the country has changed for the worst since all the stupid people can vote.

I´ve got to run . . . have a good day

I think that there is a simple reason why Joe Miller lost. He has a beard. Think about it. No Senator, or Congressman has a beard. Or a mustache either. And hasn´t for decades. All our elected representatives have to have a certain look, and that look is kept within strict limits of clothes and grooming. It´s too bad, but our governing classes are as uniform as the Borg.

Any Tea Party related loss, no matter how narrow, is interpreted as the last nail in the coffin. Dems can lose from now to doomsday, and the stories will ever be about how they are on the verge of "turning Texas blue" or somesuch. That´s just how it works - the mainstream media coverage, that is.

Maybe there just aren´t enough people who believe in the principles of good government to elect those candidates.

The constant attacks on Sarah Palin would seem to indicate that.

Scott Brown riding an

SALEM, N.H. — Voters have soured on President Obama. National and statewide trends favor Republicans. And here in his new home state, Scott Brown’s truck is gaining speed. Analysts and recent polls have found Brown closing in on US Senator Jeanne Shaheen, the Democratic incumbent he is vying to unseat, in a race that has become increasingly nasty and expensive. Once largely dismissed by critics as an unlikely second act in a state he moved to only last year, Brown’s Senate bid is increasingly seen as a plausible path back to the US Capitol. Observers see a race that may be largely determined

A new study from Johns Hopkins University suggests exactly what many conservative activists have been complaining about for years: Washington is out of touch with the rest of America. From Johns Hopkins: Surveying 850 people who either work in government or directly with it, researchers found that the inside-the-Beltway crowd has very little in common with America at large. Washington insiders are more likely to be white. They are more educated. Their salaries are higher, they vote more and have more faith in the fairness of elections. They are probably Democrat and liberal. They more diligently follow the news. And they think

America is silently acquiescing to President Obama’s extraordinarily expensive and flawed plan to fight Ebola in West Africa. Tuesday, Obama announced he is committing $763 million dollars and 3,000 military personnel to taming the outbreak that so far has killed 2,400 people. Though help is urgently needed there, the plan does too little to protect Americans. Obama said nothing about temporarily banning commercial air travel between the U.S. and West Africa, in order to help prevent Ebola from coming here. Some 220,000 residents of West African countries have visas that permit them to enter the United States.

Late yesterday, the Kansas supreme court granted the writ of mandamus filed by former Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Chad Taylor and ordered Kansas secretary of state Kris Kobach to remove Taylor’s name from the November ballot. But the controversy may not yet be over because of another writ filed by a Democratic voter. The court dismissed Kobach’s claim (explained in an earlier NRO post) that Taylor failed to comply with the state statute (K.S.A. 25-306b(b)) that requires a candidate who wants to withdraw to certify that “they are incapable of fulfilling the duties of office if elected.” Taylor sent a letter
