Media Magnet: What if we just
pulled the plug on Ferguson?

Fox News, by Howard Kurtz

Original Article

This is what journalists have been saying privately about the violence in Ferguson: What if we all just went home? What if we turned off the cameras? Would the protestors disappear—especially all the out-of-town agitators who have descended on the Missouri town just to make trouble? The answer is, probably, yes—and yet that can’t and won’t happen. I’m not suggesting for a second that the killing of Michael Brown and the eruption of anger and violence in Ferguson isn’t a hugely important story. But we all know how the massive media machine, once it clanks into action, changes the very thing on which

If they wern´t surpressing evidence that would exonerate the cop,it would already be over. You would think the cop being punched in the eye would be big news but you can´t find the details anywhere. They´re also with holding the thug´s toxicology report which could have "purple drank" in it and explain his erratic behavior. Where´s the incident report filed by the cop?

The Brown´s lawyer could be poisoning the jury pool by constantly saying the thug had his hands in the air while being shot. That´s pure speculation, not facts.

It´s possible to me the cop couldn´t see very well and fired extra shots because he couldn´t tell if he hit the suspect.

Days ago, I wondered aloud on this forum what would happen if the media stopped covering Ferguson and simply let the locals handle this. It seemed the only reasonable thing to do, given the media´s penchant for blowing things up to get their story.

Really, nothing out of the ordinary happened in Ferguson: A young thug got killed after robbing a store and shoving the proprietor around. He then attacked a police officer brutally. The officer in fear for his own live, shot the guy.

Let the locals handle it. But no, that´s no good enough for race-pimps like Holder, Jackson, Sharpton, and Obama. They get to inflame their false narrative of a racist America, while people who will never in their lives mean crap get their five minutes of face time.

Go home and let these people sort it out.

Everyone knows that demonstrators/protestors act out for the cameras. Not everyone knows that the media encourages that acting out.

How many times has a demonstration of a dozen or so people been made to look like a crowd, so there would be film at 11?

Conversely, I recall a demonstration of hundreds of thousands of Tea Party types in Washington that got very little coverage--so lots of people don´t even know it happened. The media wasn´t interested in encouraging that movement.

In a sharp criticism of Mexico´s "failure" on immigration and crime policies, Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Wednesday invited President Enrique Pena Nieto to visit his state and observe law enforcement efforts on the U.S. side of the border. Pena Nieto recently criticized Perry´s highly-publicized deployment of National Guard troops to the border as "unpleasant" and "reprehensible." Perry, mulling running for president in 2016, fired back Wednesday with a letter to Pena Nieto saying Mexico isn´t doing enough to control immigration along its border with Central America or to control drug cartels. How dirty is President Barack Obama prepared to get in the war to defeat ISIL? Beating back the brutal Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant may require cozying up to unsavory groups in Syria — including some currently affiliated with the Al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front — and may collide with existing law if the groups the U.S. wants to train or co-opt have murky human rights records, former officials and analysts say. Some lawmakers are questioning the wisdom of such alliances, though that doesn’t seem to be slowing down momentum on congressional approval of Obama’s plan to take on ISIL.

Not long ago, Washington considered arming and training rebels engaged in what would become a fierce civil war. Nations with an invested stake in the outcome discussed whether to support a perceived David against a corrupt Goliath in a strategically located region of the world. The consequences would have broad ramifications that would tip the scale in favor of one side. The issue wasn’t one of conviction. It was a matter of unanswered questions about an uncertain ally. The negotiations to which I refer could be mistaken as relating to arming the moderate Free Syrian Army against the oppressive regime of President Bashar

INDIANOLA, IOWA — Hillary Clinton is trapped in a bubble. She’s been guarded by the Secret Service since 1993. She hasn’t driven a car since 1996. When she shakes hands with voters _ as she did Sunday in Iowa _ she’s often separated from them by metal barriers. In some ways, Clinton is a prisoner of her own success. The Secret Service protection has been there since she became first lady in 1993, and it will follow her the rest of her life. In other ways, she has fed the sense that she is removed from the lives of everyday Americans, such

A poll released last week had some pretty bad news for congressional Democrats heading into the midterm elections. But buried in the poll numbers was a figure that just might constitute an even more important turning point. Respondents were asked: “On balance, do you feel that Obama’s presidency so far has been more of a success or more of a failure?” More than half, 52%, said “failure.” Only 42% said “success.” And it gets worse. Only 22% were “strongly” convinced Obama is a success, while 39% are strongly convinced he’s a failure. And the American people have pretty much made up

Everybody knows there is no real leader in the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. But ask voters an open-ended question — Whom do you want to be the nominee? — and the range of answers can be breathtaking. That´s what I did in an unplanned and totally unscientific way on my Twitter feed Tuesday afternoon. On Monday evening I posted a piece about Mike Huckabee´s preparations for another run for the nomination in 2016. Twitter reaction to Huckabee was almost entirely negative: Nobody, or at least nobody reading my tweets on a Tuesday afternoon, seemed to like the idea

The network news programs gave Mrs. Clinton’s trip to Iowa the gushing, royal treatment on Sunday, repeating it again on Monday, as she appeared before a throng of cheering Democrats in Iowa, where her party’s first presidential nominating caucuses will be held. The more violence that comes out of the Islamic world, the more that the Left insists Islam is a “religion of peace.” The rise of ISIS has inspired Western leaders to redouble their attempts at reeducation. Appointing themselves Islamic authorities, they declare that ISIS is “not Islamic.” These Western leaders are far more protective of Islam than their own historic religion. They are willing to subject Christianity to scrutiny for its supposedly reactionary teachings, even as they hold that the doctrines of Islam are flawless and beyond criticism. Obamacare—or at least the version of it that the president and his advisers currently think they can get away with putting into place—has been upending arrangements and reshuffling the deck in the health system since the beginning of the year. That’s when the new insurance rules, subsidies, and optional state Medicaid expansions went into effect. The law’s defenders say the changes that have been set in motion are irreversible, in large part because several million people are now covered by insurance plans sold through the exchanges, and a few million more are enrolled in Medicaid as a result of Obamacare.
