ROCHESTER, N.H. - President Barack Obama is expected to make a statement today about the beheading of American journalist James Foley by militants with the Islamic State extremist group. Foley was kidnapped in Syria in November 2012. The militants said his killing is in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes in Iraq. Islamic State is also threatening to kill American journalist Steven Sotloff, who was kidnapped near the Syrian-Turkish border in August 2013. Foley´s family confirmed his death on a webpage created to rally support for him. His mother, Diane Foley, said in a statement on the webpage he "gave his

I´m so glad that Obama will take time from his vacation to make a statement. HEAVY s/o Why couldn´t he utter a word last night?? He´s despicable and an embarrassment and disgrace to this country!! It´s especially infuriating since David Cameron cut his vacation short but King Obama didn´t. He´s just breathtaking in his lack of concern for anyone other than himself.

His speechwriter wasn´t available last night, and he needs someone to load his teleprompter. And that´s why he didn´t say anything last night.

There is nothing he can say about it that has any value or consolation. The only way that this sort of thing will stop is to wipe ISIS out completely. Not most of them, not many of them, but ALL of them. Most don´t want to hear that but, stop for a moment and consider that annihilation of all non Islamist is their goal, and although one can say, "that´s not likely" how many thousands of people must die before we hit back with everything we´ve got. We are capable of bombing them back into the stone age.

Whatever the scheduled time, Obama will be 35 minutes late, He has zero respect for his audience, whether those reporters assembled around his golf cart or Americans watching on TV. Besides, it takes a while for his cocaine hit to kick in, producing the heavy eyelids and the many "Ahs" in his speech.

As to his comments, he should say that we will track down and kill those responsible. And, that we are sending 24 A-10 attack jets to Iraq today. If another American is harmed by IS, we will send 24 more A-10s (we have 300) and a squadron of Apache attack helicopters to destroy IS in Iraq, Syria and wherever its leadership may hide. The killers of thousands of Iraqi Christians and Yazidis and captured Iraqi soldiers will be pursued by Iraq & Kurdish forces, and we will give them all the assistance they need to destroy this IS scrounge that has infected the Middle East. Finally, to all Americans, I must honestly confess that my terror policies have failed horribly, and that my attacks on George Bush were beneath a president. I apologize to everyone. As of this day, I am resigning since I have proven myself incapable of providing the leadership this country desperately needs.

The revamped expanded Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument will cover 490,000 square miles - an area roughly three times the size of California - and will become the largest marine preserve in the world. MSNBC’s Steve Benen derided the message as “overly defensive” and wrote: “If you have to remind the public that Republicans ‘are people’ and ‘have emotions,’ then you’re implicitly suggesting that Republicans’ basic humanity is, at least for some, in doubt.” Well…sometimes, yeah, it is in doubt.
