White House takes suggestions

CBS News, by Rebecca Kaplan

In addition to reviewing the deportation system of immigrants in the U.S. illegally, the Obama administration is weighing executive actions to change the legal immigration system in ways that could benefit businesses, the Wall Street Journal reports. In more than 20 meetings this summer, White House and other administration officials have recruited suggestions from industries like technology, agriculture and construction. High-tech firms, in search of ways to increase the number of skilled foreign workers that can come to the U.S., have pitched the idea of excluding workers´ spouses from the 140,000-per-year visa cap. Spot on, #3, and that´s 140,000 foreigners a year--A YEAR--taking jobs from skilled Americans, including Mr A, a vet who hates working for about the same amount of money he was making around 12 years ago. Never mind all the ConEd he´s done or the experience he´s gained, or the loyalty and conscientiousness he´s known for--bring in the foreigners who´ll work for what they can get until they can obtain a green card and start bringing in their relatives and collecting some welfare and social security payments. Yes, it can be done. Just look online at the astonishing number of law firms who advertise all sorts of things they can do for H-1B visa imports.

I hope Democrats understand what he´s doing. He´s not working to prepare more Americans to take high paying jobs, he´s looking to import more foreign workers to prevent Americans from taking high paying jobs. Hope and change.

Isn´t it great that Obama doesn´t have a Congress to deal with. He can take suggestions directly from executives and illegal immigration supporters without ever having to be bothered with the House and Senate. If our founding fathers hadn´t been old white landowners, we could have elimated the expense of Comgress 225 years ago. Instead, we had to wait for Obama´s reelection to finally get rid of 535 senators, representatives and their staffs.

Obama, he may be a tyrant, but he´s our tyrant.

Attorney General Eric Holder, who announced his resignation on Thursday, leaves a dismal legacy at the Justice Department, but one of his legal innovations was especially pernicious: the demonizing of state attempts to ensure honest elections. As a former U.S. attorney general under President Reagan, and a former Ohio secretary of state, we would like to say something that might strike some as obvious: Those who oppose photo voter-ID laws and other election-integrity reforms are intent on making it easier to commit vote fraud. That conclusion is inescapable, given the well-established evidence that voter-ID laws don´t disenfranchise minorities or reduce

The Northeast, once the nation’s political engine that produced presidents, House speakers and Senate giants including the late Edward M. Kennedy, is losing clout in Washington as citizens flee the high-tax region, according to experts worried about the trend. The Census Bureau reports that population growth has shifted to the South and the result is that the 11 states that make up the Northeast are being bled dry of representation in Washington. Critics blame rising taxes in states such as Massachusetts and Connecticut for limiting population growth in the Northeast to just 15 percent from 1983 to 2013, while the
