Obama dines with chef
The Hill (Washington DC), by Amie Parnes

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 8/18/2014 9:21:56 PM

President Obama stopped by for an unscheduled dinner on Monday night at the home of Sam Kass, a White House chef and adviser to first lady Michelle Obama. A White House pool report said his deputy chief of staff Anita Decker Breckenridge also joined him for the dinner. No other details were provided. Obama flew back to Washington from Martha´s Vineyard, Mass. on Sunday night, breaking up his two-week vacation. But it is unclear if Monday night´s dinner is the reason Obama made the trip back to Washington before he returns to Martha´s Vineyard to resume his vacation on Tuesday.

That is one of the stupidest things I have read and there sure has been a lot of it lately. The moron doesn´t think that´s ridiculous that Obama would interrupt his vacation to fly to Washington for a dinner with Kass?? Good. Grief. The ignorance of these "reporters" is just stunning.

I think this sounds like a little dig at Obama. The most important thing he did on his trip to DC was dine with the Let´s Move Chef.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — This struggling seaside gambling resort has been in the national news for all the wrong reasons lately: a rash of casino closings, thousands of unemployed workers, and a domestic violence case involving a former NFL star. But for three hours Sunday night, America will get a different look at Atlantic City. The Miss America pageant will present an upbeat view of the city where it began in 1921 and crown its next winner during a nationally televised finale. The show will feature iconic Atlantic City visuals including its beach, Boardwalk, the Steel Pier, Black Fish Pier

ATLANTA —Greg Norman is recovering from a chain saw accident that nearly cost him his left hand, but not his sense of humor. "At least I can still play tennis," Norman told The Associated Press by phone Sunday morning. Norman, the Hall of Fame golfer and entrepreneur, was cutting back trees in his South Florida home when the weight of a branch pulled his left hand toward the chain saw. He said the blade hit him just below where a person would be wearing a wrist watch. He said doctors told him it missed his artery by a fraction of

Harkin, who is retiring after 30 years in the Senate and was hosting his last annual Steak Fry today, said progressives should raise questions about Clinton´s foreign policy and economic positions. "As someone who has carried the liberal, progressive populist banner for many years, we´re always nervous about people moving too far to the right," Harkin told ABC News´ Jonathan Karl for

DALLAS, Pa. — In the summer of 2004, then Gov. Ed Rendell and top state lawmakers promoted legalized casino gambling as a way to provide historic relief from burdensome school property taxes. A decade later, slot-machine revenue has helped restrain the inexorable growth of a tax that homeowners love to hate, and completely eliminated it for thousands of low-income seniors. But an Associated Press analysis of state Education Department data shows that, despite the meteoric rise of Pennsylvania’s gambling industry, the casinos haven’t delivered enough revenue to put a significant dent in most homeowners’ tax bills. If anything, homeowners are

DES MOINES — Top Iowa Democrats expect Hillary Clinton´s remarks from the Harkin Steak Fry stage Sunday to be all about U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin — an old political friend retiring after 40 years of service — and the Democrats on the Iowa ballot this November. Earlier this month, President Obama decided to throw in a good word for our NATO friends in the Baltics, in the event that Russia is tempted to try out its invasion shtick on another former Soviet satellite. “We’ll be here for Estonia,” he avowed from that nation’s capital. “We will be here for Latvia. We will be here for Lithuania. You lost your independence once before. With NATO, you will never lose it again.” Vladimir Putin lost no time in leaping over that red line by crossing the Estonian border and abducting a security official once Obama had hardly left

The New York Times is going after the Koch Brothers once again. No news there, of course. But it’s worth noting that the Times has found a new angle to pursue—or should we say, a new club with which to cudgel the Kochs—namely, the legal curlicues of campaign finance. Liberals, no doubt, will be cheering for the Times, but they ought to be careful, because two can play at this game. Conservatives have long decried the left’s drive to “criminalize” politics as a means to achieve ideological ends. WASHINGTON — Democrats have reversed the partisan imbalance on the federal appeals courts that long favored conservatives, a little-noticed shift with far-reaching consequences for the law and President Obama’s legacy. For the first time in more than a decade, judges appointed by Democratic presidents considerably outnumber judges appointed by Republican presidents. The Democrats’ advantage has only grown since late last year when they stripped Republicans of their ability to filibuster the president’s nominees. Democratic appointees who hear cases full time now hold a majority of seats on nine of the 13 United States Courts of Appeals. When Mr. Obama took

His cynical grandstanding was rightly condemned — but he was hardly alone. Cruz agreed to speak to this group, which included bishops of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, ostensibly out of solidarity, but took the occasion to antagonize them over their insufficient praise for Israel, then smeared them as anti-Semites before dropping the mic. Voter turnout during last month´s primary races was a little too good in some counties, Arizona elections officials said Friday. Some precincts in northern Arizona tallied more ballots cast than there are registered voters, the Arizona Capitol Times reported. According to officials, errors made by poll workers and elections officials in Apache and Navajo counties led to the miscalculations. Initial reports from some precincts showed a turnout of anywhere from 200 to 400 percent. In Apache County, the Puerco West precinct reportedly had 100 votes cast, but only 23 voters are registered there. The voter turnout added up to 434
