Why does AP refer to Michael Brown
as ´teen´, despite style guide?

Mediaite, by Eddie Scarry

Original Article

The Associated Press Stylebook states that in reports referring to a person’s age, the figure for the age number should be used. It also states that reports should “use man or woman for individuals 18 and older.”Why, then, are AP reports on the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown solely referring to him as a “teen” and “teenager”? “Don’t know’ if Missouri teen shot with hands up,” reads one AP headline from Monday. “County autopsy: Unarmed teen shot 6 to 8 times,” reads another. And an excerpt from yet another AP story, emphasis added: “Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon lifted a curfew

The MSM, including the AP, is a fully owned subsidiary of the DNC.

The DNC demanded that this thug (the tape doesn´t lie, and neither did his fellow thug) be referred to as a "teen", so the MSM obeyed their command.

Nothing new here...

We´ll good going, Mediaite!

A question that needs attention.

Otherwise we might assume that the AP is trying to manipulate the narrative, and we know they´d never do that. /s

The family was upset that he had gone from being a teenager to a black male. "Instantly!"

And to reinforce this bogus concept, Capt. Johnson gave an emotional reference to going home and hugging his thug-dressed, tattooed black "baby".

For the same reason they portrayed Treyvon Martin as a sweet-faced little kid, to make him look like something he´s not. Unfortunately, lies only work when there is a little truth mixed in. Seeing the huge bully robbing a store and pushing the clerk around right before the police caught up with him is stretching things quite a bit.

If mama loved her baby so much why was he living away and sometimes camping out with grandma? His food bill alone had to be a burden too much for her to bear.

Consistency and even-handedness in reporting the news is so last week. Anybody holding on to an idealistic sense of obligation to accuracy and fairness in reporting has been weeded-out of the business by now.

There´s far more sport and profit to be had in distorting the story and manipulating perceptions, after all. And the thrill of seeing your words affect the behavior of millions? Priceless.

(apologies for the bitter sarcasm...)

Voter turnout during last month´s primary races was a little too good in some counties, Arizona elections officials said Friday. Some precincts in northern Arizona tallied more ballots cast than there are registered voters, the Arizona Capitol Times reported. According to officials, errors made by poll workers and elections officials in Apache and Navajo counties led to the miscalculations. Initial reports from some precincts showed a turnout of anywhere from 200 to 400 percent. In Apache County, the Puerco West precinct reportedly had 100 votes cast, but only 23 voters are registered there. The voter turnout added up to 434

The United Nations Climate Summit will begin in New York this Tuesday, but environmental activists didn’t wait. There was a tone of fatalism in the comments of many with whom I spoke; they despair that the kind of radical change they advocate probably won’t result from the normal democratic process. It’s not because Democrats are rallying around a particular mission or set of candidates; it’s because Republicans and conservatives aren’t. It seems like I’m always writing on issues no one wants to hear are mistakes, such as messaging or social issues. But I don’t care. These things have to be said. If these columns are received like a gaseous cousin on a long car trip through the desert, so be it. Crack a window… If things continue on their current course, the GOP will not retake the Senate.

It was once said, “religion is designed to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable.” Jesus’ parables – short stories with moral lessons – were likewise designed to afflict, to draw us in but leave us uncomfortable. These teachings can be read as being about divine love and salvation, sure. But, their first listeners – first century Jews in Galilee and Judea – heard much more challenging messages. Only when we hear the parables as Jesus’ own audience did can we fully experience their power and find ourselves surprised and challenged today. Here are four examples of Jesus’ teachings that everybody gets wrong: 1.
