NAACP president: Special prosecutor
"critically important" in Ferguson

CBS News, by Rebecca Kaplan

Original Article

NAACP President Cornell Brooks said it is "critically important" that a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate the death of Michael Brown, the unarmed black teenager who was shot by a white police officer last week. Browns´ death has resulted in a week of clashes between protesters and police in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Mo., even as Gov. Jay Nixon attempted to restore the peace by instituting a curfew over the weekend. Nixon said in a separate interview on "Face the Nation" Sunday that the local prosecutor assigned to the case "has a real opportunity to step up" in

Only if you are a racist Cornell Brooks.

The audio of eyewitnesses state that the criminal ran away from the officer trying to arrest him, the officer gave chase, then the criminal turned around and charged the officer, like a wild animal. The officer realized his life was in danger and stopped what he thought was a threat to his life.

Sorry NAACP, but you burned your bridges when you were vehemently opposed to a special prosecutor for all of Barry´s and the demonrat scandals.

Remember Benghazi, Fast & Furious, IRS, etc?

The subreddit created to spread uplifting news has some uplifting news for those who don’t like parasitic websites like the Huffington Post — links to HuffPo stories are no longer welcome. HuffPo has a long and storied history of “borrowing” content without attribution or payment, or just making it up completely (remember when they made up a “blog post” by George Clooney?). Well, their editors have apparently been sticking by that business model. In a post entitled, “PSA – HuffingtonPost articles are no longer welcome in r/UpliftingNews and will be immediately removed moving forward,” the Uplifting News subreddit announced, “Simply put, a

There exist any number of fair criticisms of George W. Bush’s Iraq policy — that he underestimated the resistance we would encounter, that he deferred too long to failing generals, that the surge ought to have come sooner, and so on. The one thing that can’t be said about him is this: that his war policy was driven by the polls and politics. This is the operative difference between Presidents Bush and Obama, which the latter drove home in his prime-time address Wednesday evening. On the surface, there are similarities between the two. Like Bush’s Iraq reset, Obama’s comes near the midway point

A group helmed by a major donor and policy adviser to Democratic Senate candidate Michele Nunn is under investigation by the Georgia secretary of State for alleged voter fraud. Secretary of State Brian Kemp (R) said in a memo, reported by WSB-TV, that his office has “received numerous complaints about voter applications submitted by the New Georgia Project,” an organization launched to register and turn out voters to the polls. “Preliminary investigation has revealed significant illegal activities, including forged voter registration applications, forged signatures on releases, and applications with false or inaccurate information,” Kemp wrote in the memo. Some of the things I don’t claim to know about the Ted Cruz-IDC kerfuffle: 1 – I don’t know what Cruz was thinking when he told attendees at The IDC Summit for Middle East Christians that “Christians have no greater ally than Israel.” Maybe he was baiting the crowd and looking for a reason to walk off the stage. If so, he’s doing an excellent job being a politician. 2 – I don’t know whether it was only a “vocal and angry minority of attendees,” as Cruz contends, who participated in this “shameful display of bigotry and hatred.” The IDC says “a

American voters disagree with President Obama that the economy is in better shape today than in 2008. Most are unhappy with ObamaCare. And optimism about the future of the country is down. With only 54 days until Election Day, these sentiments are pretty well baked into the cake -- boosting Republican candidates in a new Fox News poll. The poll, released Thursday, also shows that nearly as many people say their household income has gone down as say it has gone up during Obama’s presidency (36 percent gone down vs. 42 percent gone up). The Department of Energy Wednesday granted approval for two facilities in Louisiana and Florida to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) to nearly any country. Sempra Energy’s existing Cameron LNG project in southwestern Louisiana will be allowed to export 1.7 billion cubic feet of gas per day once the company installs the necessary equipment. The Carib Energy plant in Martin County, Fla., has been granted a license to export 40 million cubic feet a day. The DOE is legally obligated to review every application to export LNG to countries with which the United States does not have a free-trade agreement, to determine whether the

U.S. Army sociologists are worried that a lack of black officers leading its combat troops will have detrimental effect on minorities and lead to fewer black officers in top leadership posts. “The issue exists. The leadership is aware of it,” Brig. Gen. Ronald Lewis toldUSA Today on Thursday. “The leadership does have an action plan in place. And it’s complicated.” The Army reports that only 10 percent of its active-duty officers are black, which has contributed to its dearth of black officers leading soldiers with occupational specialties in infantry, armor and artillery. “It certainly is a problem for several reasons,” Col. Qua speech, Barack Obama’s address Wednesday on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was surprisingly terrible: a disorganized mess, insincere and unconvincing. To appreciate just how bad and bizarre it was, compare the president’s speech announcing a new air campaign in Iraq and Syria to Dwight Eisenhower’s 1958 statement on his decision to intervene in Lebanon with 14,000—14,000!—troops. The statement contains no chest-thumping about America’s leadership in science and medicine. No pivot to the auto industry and medical research. Eisenhower simply explained what had been done, and why.

Berlin - President Obama´s declaration of war against the terrorist group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria marks a decisive break in the American constitutional tradition. Nothing attempted by his predecessor, George W. Bush, remotely compares in imperial hubris. Mr. Bush gained explicit congressional consent for his invasions (Snip) Mr. Obama may rightly be frustrated by gridlock in Washington, but his assault on the rule of law is a devastating setback for our constitutional order. His refusal even to ask the Justice Department to provide a formal legal pretext for the war on ISIS is astonishing.

Rarely has a president faced a greater challenge in establishing his credibility for a new foreign-policy move than Barack Obama did in his nationally televised speech tonight. A CNN poll earlier this week found that just 30 percent of voters thought Obama had presented a clear plan for fighting the Islamic State. While Obama now pledges to ask Congress to train and aid Syrian rebels who would fight the group, voters remember that he backed similar plans in Syria in 2013, when his advisers saw Syrian president Bashar Assad as the major threat. President Obama just announced that he is bringing a counter-terrorism strategy to an insurgency fight. He was at pains to repeat the phrase “counter-terror” four times in a short speech. Noting that ISIL is not a state (partly because the international community thankfully does not recognize it), he declared, “ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.” Neither of those sentences, unfortunately, is true. ISIL is an insurgent group that controls enormous territory in Iraq and Syria that it governs. It maneuvers conventional light

Throughout his presidency, President Obama has emphasized one point while talking about Islamist extremists: They are not practicing Islam, he has said, they are perverting it. He took that a step further Wednesday night. While announcing that he´s expanding the campaign against the Islamic State extremist group into Syria, Obama said flatly that this group, which is trying to install a caliphate in the Middle East, "is not Islamic." He didn´t say they are perverting their religion; he said they´re not even part of that religion. SAN DIEGO — African-American elementary students in California were chronically truant at nearly four times the rate of all students during the last school year, according to a state report released Friday. The report by the California Attorney General´s office is the first time the data has been broken down according to race and income levels. Officials say such data is needed to address the problem. Poverty and suspensions are contributing factors. Overall, more than 250,000 elementary school students missed 10 percent or more of the 2013-2014 school year or roughly 18 or more school days.
