The Coming Race War
Won’t Be About Race

Time Magazine, by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Will the recent rioting in Ferguson, Missouri, be a tipping point in the struggle against racial injustice, or will it be a minor footnote in some future grad student’s thesis on Civil Unrest in the Early Twenty-First Century? The answer can be found inMay of 1970. You probably have heard of the Kent State shootings: on May 4, 1970, the Ohio National Guard opened fire on student protesters at Kent State University. During those 13 seconds of gunfire, four students were killed and nine were wounded, one of whom was permanently paralyzed. The shock and outcry resulted in a nationwide

Kareem paints politicians with a broad brush but does not touch the hell that the Democratic party has unleashed on urban residents. It was LBJ that was quoted on AF1 saying that by increased entitlements that "We´ll have these n*ggers voting Democrat for the next 200 years". While lauding LBJ at a recent remembrance at the LBJ library, Obama also failed to mention or ever acknowledge this.

What is the black unemployment rate now? 30%? What has the Democratic party done for their constituents except enrich themselves. Yet, the black and latino communities continue to vote against their own best interests.

We read the same excuses - Bush, Republicans, and Fox News - sadly Kareem echos this. Only when people can face reality and tell the truth and educate themselves will there be any growth and empowerment.

The officer is guilty, blah blah blah. Kareem wasn´t a very good co-pilot either.

I think Obama has bigger plans than Ferguson. Unfortunately for him he´s still a couple generations away from eliminating the white majority. He won´t rest over the next two years, however.

For insight into Kareem´s meaning and intent, maybe someone should ask him why he shucked his Christian name and chose a Muslim name?

If he will answer that truthfully, then we can understand his motive in writing about a war to come.

Kareem says here that "The coming race war won’t be about race."

I tend to agree with him about a future war except it will not be as he suggests: Poor vs Rich.

It will be a culture war: Christianity vs Islam. We´re already in it now except only one side is fighting . . . Islam.

"60 percent of claims on Fox News are false. . . " such foolish gibberish.

Pretty incoherent, not much actual reasoning going on there. It gets boring very early, such predictable leftist biases, non-factual assertions and standard race baiting and class-warfare phrases Not really anything interesting, insightful or new.

I’m not saying the protests in Ferguson aren’t justified—they are. Way to go, Abdul.

It´s probably good that Time Magazine doesn´t have a comments section or they would´ve heard some things they definitely wouldn´t like. This piece by Jabbar is so typical in that it does not hold the Black Community accountable or responsible for any of its own actions...such as getting even a rudimentary education that would help better themselves. Many of the Ferguson protestor types that I had the misfortune of knowing in high school had no interest in learning anything and they ended up at the low end of the spectrum to complain about how it was always someone else´s fault that they could bare;y get a job pumping gas. But you can´t tell them that...that´d be racis´.

Abdul-Jabbar states that black violence against whites has "almost no measurable social impact".

Black violence against whites has a huge social (and economic) impact. I don´t know if it´s being measured, but it´s obvious. Normal white people who´ve been targeted, or seen other whites brutalized, avoid being in areas where they can be easily attacked. "White flight" isn´t just to get away from some unwanted proximity, but to save their white (or asian) hide. I don´t know about Abdul-Jabbar, but I don´t spend money where I don´t feel safe.

The Census Bureau reported Thursday that the nation’s marriage rate is the lowest since 1920, and the first-time inclusion of same sex married couples did little to reverse the decline. According to Pew Research Center analysis, the marriage rate of Americans 18 and older hit a bottom of 50.3 percent in 2013, down from 50.5 percent in 2012. In 1920, the first year mentioned, 65 percent were married, and the marriage rate hit a high of 72.2 percent in 1960.
